Objectives:
The Cybrids attacking our production facilities where the prototype of the laser 400 gw is developed. This time we have to shoot down the landskimmers to complete the mission.

Played this back in the day...great game. This video brought back very fond memories. Wish someone would remake it.
Same...first time you could fly in this mission i was so immersed, i replayed it plenty of times doing most absurd manevers killing all on the ground. So fun!

Earthsiege and Earthsiege 2 were amazing games!
Still one of my favorite games, I'm revisiting it on a near new windows 98 laptop I got cheap off Craigslist. A few tidbits of advice.. before you go out the first time, scrap all the weapons you don't need, for instance the 20 MM cannons.. install all but one of them on hercs and sell them off one at a time or you'll get screwed on the salvage. Same for the 100GW lasers. If you also lose the 6 and 8 X missile packs, 3 of the radar jammers and all of the near-useless EMP cannons you should be able to begin building a Tomahawk. Build multiple Collossus ASAP. When you have access, build and install shield and energy pods on all Ogres. Use twin plasma cannons, Razor missile packs and a pair of 50MM cannons on the razor. I use ARH missiles. And BTW you can "Razor" enemies at least twice (not pit bulls!) and really bash them, take them nearly out of the fight. Hit them on the cockpit solidly and level but remember you basically can do this twice, only. On this paerticular mission I have a pair of 200 GW lasers and an ELF 2, and use the Elf to cut legs off for salvage. The light cybrids in this mission won't shoot you until you open up on them, so let them get close and take out any of them with valuable weapons such as Elf 2s. Tell your squad to attack one with inferior weapons and after that send them after the flyers to keep them off the valuable salvage cybrids while you take their legs off. You will have to use your keyboard directional keys to adjust the Elf into position. Do not stray outside the tower areas or you will run into 3 Diablos (60 ton, powerfuul cybrids with missiles and 50MM cannons) and get the ass torn off your team. I. f you're elite and use the right tactics you can take them, but you are going to get hammered. One more thing, Razorr tactics...you can kill buzzards with a pair of 50s once you learn how they are programmed, but with the right dogfighting techniques, one missile will also do it
I noticed you don't use Autotracking. It's frustrating at first, but once you learn it, gives big payoffs in quite a few scenarios, such as taking out fliers. With my Outlaw weapons combo, fliers are easy

God I loved ES2 you don't see detail like this game had or content anymore.

Funny how the squaddies in this game, Mechwarrior, and Heavy Gear kicked so much butt, yet modern squaddies tend to just sit back and let the player do all the work.
Man the ELF was so much cooler in these than in Starsiege or Tribes :/

All I remember from this game is how those land skimmers would destroy me before I even hit them once.
Always a good feeling when your squad mate takes out a leg and not the torso

Most modern games are for casual gamers. The console industry is to blame for the death of imersive titles like Earthsiege. If only developers could go back making games built for the PC that actually pushed the hardware, with a bigger focus on gameplay and less on fancy effects. This game managed to do both almost a decade ago....
S1nwar, the maverick mech is useful if you equip it with energy pod,a turbo pod, a plasma cannon and a 100mm autocannon (to conserve energy). You can use the turbo pod to do hit and run attacks on the heavier mechs with the plasma cannon and then use the 100mm autocannon while waiting for your energy to recharge. Its fast enough so they cannot really hit you. Its mostly for recon missions though.
how do you get this game to work on Win 7? I got the original CD but cant install it lol

Sadly no. If it did it could have taken the crown away from the Mechwarrior franchise. Like many I didn't play ES until years later. Now I realize in many respects it is a superior game.
Just found out that there is a game similar to Earth Siege 2 that is free to play that was made between 2010-2012.
does anyone know what the maveric herc was good for? when u got it u already had stronger hercs ...

I dont think you can play it on Windows 7 or 8... Vista is the last operating system that is compatible.

MW2 played less stiff and was less restrictive in how you approached missions, but both games were nice. I like them equally.
MW3 was solid, a little under-cooked towards the end. A plus for multiplayer.
MW4 was the point where I lost interest.
