Just watched your build on TH-cam. Amazing craftsmanship indeed. When I was a younger man I worked for a Timber Frame company in Cambridge NY building Timber frame homes. It was soul satisfying work.
Wow! From one pastor to another I'll say it backwards...Wow! We both share a mutual dedication to another guy that knew a few things about a carpenter shop.Your commitment to excellence is obvious in all of your efforts. Congratulations.
Follow up video still coming? I'd love to see more details of the construction process. I really appreciate that you constructed a traditional timber frame sill. So many timber framers are using conventional foundations nowadays, like wooden I-beams or concrete slab. Thanks for a great video!
I enjoyed your video very much and look forward to the next one. I’m currently building a timber frame treehouse with timbers cut on my sawmill. I just subscribed and blessings to you and your family.
Beautiful home, and love the intent. Our first look at God is as a creator and we are made in his image. We were made/ designed to create. Please upload more content, and God bless!
Hi Derek! I was checking those plans in timberframeHQ and noticed, that there is not sill in the pictures, so did you figured out on yourself or there is in actual plans included? Have a nice day!
I really like your basic building concept; small and simple, yet artful. I am planning a similar build in the Laurel Highlands of Pennsylvania. Also wanting cabin furnishings to be made, albeit mostly by my way-talented nephew. Considering self-milled timbers from the wooded lot, timber frame kits, and converted new post and beam barn kits. What are the basic plan dimensions; looks like maybe 16'x24'? Looking forward to your more complete build video, more of your musings, and good luck with your book.
This is truly inspiring. I have been studying building science and sustainable living for many hours / months / years. Looking to free ourselves from a mortgage and unsustainable bills which will allow is to serve others more freely. We are hoping to break ground on a small timber frame home (20 x 36) in the next handful of months. Where did you source the frame? Thanks so much for documenting the build. Wishing you and yours much success in advancing the kingdom.
Jack Sobon's Learn To Timber Frame (book). It has all the necessary information you need to build a 12' X 16', but you can make your own dimensional building. I used this same book to build a 14' X 18' cabin. Hope that helps?
Yes that Sobon book is very helpful. The plans I used came from TimberFrameHQ and were well worth the few bucks they cost. White oak was Way heavy to do myself with no equipment to move them and also by myself. That's why my above-floor timbers were poplar. Good luck!
You put your floor insulation upside down. Paper goes to the living space, everyone does it backwards though, I doubt it causes any problems, I did the same thing lol. The house is beautiful by the way, it’s perfect
Am I right , you said your a professor not in carpentry though , some of the components you got the names wrong or perhaps like a lot of traditional names they have been changed in America, although some of your work is nice you have put somethings together wrong .
Hey, my name is Lee. I live outside of Portland. I have access to a mill and kiln and a lot of good logs. I’m interested in starting up a timber frame company and working with people interested in ethical/sustainable building practices. Please contact me if your still doing this.
Super inspirational

Really amazing. Great job. Looking forward to the book. E.O. Wilson wrote a good one you may like called "The Creation".

Yes, 16 x 24 and I found the plans I bought at TimberFrameHQ to be very helpful, though I did modify them somewhat. Good luck!
@@kellyanddereknelson716 Did you get permits for it? And if so did the county/city have any issues since it’s not stick frame?
Wawww..nice brother.
Wow.
Looks great congrats!!!
Just one thing I hope that you made good use of the old maple tree 🌳 and didn't just burn it !!!
Eaven if he burned it that's how he heats so he made good use of it
@@billhatcher2984 I did cut it up for firewood and it will heat both buildings for almost one year.

he said in a reply upabove that he sourced the plans from TimberFrameHQ. hope you got your Timber Frame built; i'm breaking ground this spring.
Do you have a place I can buy the plans? Wanting to build something like this with white oak

Well done. If you can do that for $25,000 I'm impressed. Thank you for the inspiration.
Hi Tom, wish I'd still be w Barr-Nunn !
Can you recommend me a book for timber frame house
You put your floor insulation upside down. Paper goes to the living space, everyone does it backwards though, I doubt it causes any problems, I did the same thing lol. The house is beautiful by the way, it’s perfect
There's no paper on that insulation. None is needed in this context.
What is the footprint of the cabin?
Thanks
How long did that take?
👌👌👍
Where did you get timbers from
Update?
What's the dimentions ?
My dream home. Why the name evergreen?
My wife's idea - she's from the PNW, loves (and misses) evergreen trees here in the midwest, and, well, it's green...
Dam
Nice job..... now go write that paper
Made it 32 seconds. What do I win?
Why are you windows so small with a timber frame?!?!?!??!?!
chairs are hard chairs take for ever that was funny i dont care what color you are
