Yeah, the Hara-Kiris are if you don't wanna get humiliated by the opponent's finisher, you can input the command to take yourself out instead before they can.
Mortal Kombat 9 was a reboot. It created an alternate timeline like in Star Trek 2009. Everything that happened from MK1 to MK Armageddon was reset. So a lot of these characters like Ashrah and Hotaru never showed up in the newer trilogy. Now things are reset again after MK11, so who knows what direction it's going to go. (Some characters from Deadly Alliance and Deception showed up in the MKX tie-in comics).
So some character explanations: Li Mei : a native to Outworld Li Mei was trained by Shujinko and is a very skilled warrior. When the Deadly Alliance of Shang Tsung and Quan Chi attacked her village she managed to fight off their forces, impressing them enough to allow her to enter their tournament, promising that if she won they'd spare her and her people. Instead, when she won Shang Tsung ripped out her soul and used it to animate one of the Dragon King Onaga's warriors. Fortunately Bo Rai Cho found her and undid it, though her soul was tainted and she was compelled to serve Onaga when he returned. Li Mei was the first to die in the final battle between the Good and Evil warriors before Raiden sent his message to the past in MK9. She makes a brief appearance as the leader of the Outworld refugees in MKX, who warns Earthrealm about Mileena having the amulet. Hotaru is the leader of the guard from Seido, the Realm of Order. He has lava powers and his personality is entirely Lawful Stupid. He was a friend and trainer to Shujinko and ended up arresting him when Shujinko accidently broke a law he didn't know existed. Noob-Smoke: After discovering Smoke robot body Noob reprogrammed him to obey him. During this period of the games the characters could switch between different fighting styles during kombat, so the gimick here was that you were not just switching styles but also switching characters as well. Havok: Is the leader of chaos realm, he's completely insane in the most entertaining way possible. He lives only to spread chaos and conflict throughout the realms and has weird powers. Ashra: She's a demon, a former servant of Quan Chi. While fleeing from his assassins she found a magic sword that cleansed her a little each time she used it to slay a demon. Ashra set out on a mission to cleanse herself entirely and be expelled from the Neatherealm. She's technically good but in a very fanatical way. She's also convinced that the entire vampire race is evil and needs to be wiped out. Kobra and Kira were recruited by Kabal to form the new Black Dragon. Kobra was a street fighter who took things too far and started killing people in his matches and Kira was a weapons seller. What they didn't realize was their final test was to fight each other to the death. Darrius and Dairou are from Order Realm, they are members of the rebellion and oppose Hotaru. They are basically completely irrelevant to the story and are just there to have more new characters. Shujinko: I actually explained him to you in a previous video. He's the focus character of MK Deception's konquest mode. As a child he trained under Bo Rai Cho and dreamed of saving Earthrealm from Shang Tsung. The Dragon King Onaga noticed his eagerness and decided to make use of him. Onaga pretended to be servant of the Elder Gods and imbued Shujinko with the ability to copy any fighting style he saw and gave him the mission to gather the kamidogu, which were scattered throughout the Realms and when combined would allow him to control the Realms and reshape them as he saw fit. Actually Darrius and Dairou are important to the Order vs Chaos conflict. See, Havik is not the RULER of Chaosrealm, he's the Cleric and goes to other realms to spread chaos to them. Darrius is the leader of a rebellion inside Seido and shows that the people of orderrealm do NOT like the strictness of that order. That said, Darrius is shady in how he recruits people, often getting an assassin to kill the family of a guardsman and then that guardsman loses his orderly temper and kills the criminal, which gets him imprisoned for violating order. Darrius breaks them out and has them join his rebellion. Dairou WAS a Seido guard like Hotaru but his family was murdered and when he killed the one who murdered his family, he was imprisoned by Hotaru, a former friend, for his one act of "Chaos". Dairou works with Darrius to overthrow Seido's government, but also isn't aware Darrius hired the assassin who killed his family.

Pretty much Kenshi is the only mortal kombat character to do a real life hara-kiri on himself. Also this game is the first time Raiden became dark raiden
The 3D era is a gold mine of some of the best characters and some very forgettable characters as well. But it brought in Onaga, Blaze, and Zombie Liu Kang. Whenever you get the chance dive deep into the 3D era lore of MK. Deception is by far the best one, in my opinion
Shujinko is literally goated. Growing up, I went through the entire Konquest mode of Deception and it was the best thing to encounter because you basically grew with Shujinko throughout! He needs to make a return to the modern Mortal Kombat games, and a form of Konquest mode needs to definitely make a komeback as well!!!

Yes there is a story mode for this game, it is called 'Konquest' and it is kind of like an open-world mode where you explore the different realms of Mortal Kombat.
So the thing with Noob - Smoke is that they’re basically a tag team of well.. Noob and Smoke. Also basically since the beginning of Mk9, the universe was rebooted and went back to the beginning and a LOT of different things happened.

9:34 Li Mei was my favorite character in MK: Deception. I used to destroy everybody with her and Baraka lol. She was in the story mode in Mortal Kombat 10, she was talking to Johnny Cage and Sonya about Outworld and the people that was coming. It sucked that she wasn't a playable character, I was really looking forward to that. I hope she's in part 12 though, it's rumored that Onaga (who was the villain in this one) is going to be the main villain in part 12 again. Fun Fact: Li Mei was Onago wife for a while according to her arcade story in this one, so if he's going to apart of 12 that means, she has too as well🙌💪🔥
Yeah, the reason why there was no hero from the first games (Sonya, Johnny, Jax, etc) besides Liu Kang it's because in the previous game, MK: Deadly Alliance, all of them died against Shang Tsung and Quan Chi, only Raiden got to live because although he died, he is a guardian god so he was resurrected but in a dark way. Before Mortal Kombat was rebooted, there were 7 canon games, so it's not weird that you guys don't know about many characters from this games, the most recent games are more simple with their character roster.
So basically: Shujinko is "Wrong place, wrong time", the character. When he was still young, he got tasked with finding the Kamidogu, which are McGuffins scattered around the realms, to revive the One Being (which, in-universe, is essentially God), and he has the ability to copy moves from others, but the guy spent so much time messing around during his mission that he got old. Li Mei was introduced in the prequel, Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance. She's a fighter who actually won the tournament, but Shang Tsung took her soul and put it into one of Onaga's undead soldiers. Bo' Rai Cho managed to undo it, but that corrupted her soul, and she became Onaga's servant anyways. Hotaru is "fucking idiot", the character, but Lawful. He's from Orderrealm, so he tries to maintain order. Havik is the complete opposite. He's from Chaosrealm, and he exists solely to spread chaos around, completely insane. He appears in Joker's ending in MK11, becoming besties with him. Ashrah is a demon who got her hands on a holy sword and her soul gradually became more and more cleansed everytime she killed a demon with the sword. She wants to become completely cleansed so she can leave the Netherrealm Noob - Smoke is essentially a tag team of Noob Saibot and Smoke Kobra and Kira are Black Dragon recruits, taken in by Kabal. Unfortunately, as a final test, they have to fight each other to the death. Darrius and Dairou are just there. Liu Kang is a zombie in this one because he was killed by Quan Chi and Shang Tsung in MK Deadly Alliance Raiden is dark in this one because, well, he blew himself up to try and stop Onaga (and killed Shang Tsung and Quan Chi in the process), but came back fucking pissed at the mortals for causing the return of Onaga, which made him dark, I guess.

Ahh a nostalgia trip to see these classic fatalities in the 3D era of MK history was the most unique and memorable game that brings tears and laughs 😄 Fun fact- Havik made a appearance in MK 11 Ultimate during Joker’s Arcade Ending by being in the Netherrealm and being “Boosum Buddies” 😅 Also there is a new for MK 12 that we might get back Konquest Mode in the game since Ed Boon twitted a poll on what the fans want to see for future game and Konquest won it. So it might be a interesting time to see and play since these old MK games had open world Quest Mode in their games.

Dairou: Unsure Noob-Smoke: Noob Saibot and Smoke in one slot. Ashra: also unsure. Darrius: a leader of a resistance, kombating Shao Kahn's Forces. Li Mei: Edenian Warrior
The ps2 Mortal Kombat games were easily the best. Also, there are so many ps2 era characters from the old timeline that would fit so well in the new timeline. So many of them have interesting endings and lore and yet they got left behind, and many of them like Li Mei, Hotaro, Havik and some of the others from this timeline who aren’t in this game, but in MK Armageddon (the follow up game to this) people like and are popular. Thankfully Fujin and Frost are some characters that got story relevance in mk11 so hopefully there will be more in mk12
I was just thinking about how you guys have a day of the week dedicated to fighting games, aka Fight Night Friday, and it hit me: I think the reason there are so many videos for fighting games and they make for such good reactions is that since MOST fighting games either don’t have a story mode or a very weak one at that (there are exceptions), it’s up to those “intros” and “finishers” and move-sets and dialogue to get across a characters personality and story. Even Guilty Gear Strive makes it so by just character’s “themes” you can get a good grasp on their personality and story.
We like stories as well though. But yeah our channel kind of grew because of the mortal Kombat reactions like these so always have a fond place for fighting games 😊
Nice 😀 My favorite ones are Sub-Zero when he plays Ice Baseball with the opponent’s head Fatality, Sindel’s Scream Fatality, Liu Kang’s Body Switch Fatality, Darius Fatalities, Shao Kahn’s Fatalities, and Bo Rai Cho’s Fart Fatality. But definitely Sub-Zero has the best Hara Kiri. Overall MK Deception was super fun. Oh and you should see the part where Ermac says SUCK IT during his Sky Temple stage death
Some of the characters you saw were some new Earthrealmers that kinda weren't that popular. Some of the others are from Chaos Realm and Order Realm, which have only been referenced in the latest games and not introduced in the new games yet.

Deadly Alliance and Decpetion added a bunch of new characters and Deception especially did away with most the classics. The spark notes is the story mode for deception, which is so good, is Shujinko's quest throughout all the realms so most these new characters are not Earth Realmers.
Some of the 3d era characters are cool and some of them are not li mei is cool hotaru is cool shujinko is cool havik is good story wise in endings kira is underrated

If you want to know more about Ashrah she is a demon who has discovered a means for escaping the Netherrealm I think the hara-kiri that Ken was referring to is Hotaru's with the twisting of the head. My favorite hara-kiri is Nightwolf's and one of the worst ones was Sindel's hara-kiri when her neck was bent. And my favorite death traps are the pit and the golden desert when Darrius got smashed with the buddha statue.

I'm not a bloodthirsty sicko. :P Also did you notice that at about 5:10, Mileena's torso kinda twitched/jerked while impaled on Baraka's blade? It's kinda subtle, but a bit disturbing when you see it.
You guys should definitely watch Deadly Alliance's fatalities. Fewer finishers than Deception but still nice. This chapter of MK is called the "3D era" and consists of MK4, Deadly Alliance, Deception, Armageddon and MK vs. DC. it is a very underrated period of MK and a lot of old fans want to see these obscure characters in MK12.
Info dump: Shujinko is the main character for Deception, you'll play as him in Konquest mode as he was given the power to copy fighting styles and abilities of fighters he trained under. Gameplay wise/purely cosmetic it LOOKED like he shapeshift into a random fighter but in reality he's just copying their movesets [devs are just lazy in reporgramming one character to use everyone's movesets] If let's say he transforms into Sub-Zero or Liu Kang he's only just using their movesets. In Arcade Mode he has few abilities he copied from several fighters.
Actually, Hara-Kiri is basically a suicide and it can be done by player who lost the fight and don't want his opponent to do a fatality on him. That is what Hara-Kiri is for. Also, Hara-Kiri basically translates as suicide from Japanese, and it comes from Japanese warriors like samurai for example. And Noob - Smoke is just a team of a two characters: Noob Saibot and Smoke. And by witching between the fighting style, you selecting another character. Like, Smoke or Noob. Also, that first Noob's fatality was from Reiko from MK4. About Kira. She is a member of a black dragon clan, which is Kano's clan. And basically, she is a Kano's girlfriend. The same with Kobra. But also Kobra is a joke character, that is a ripoff of Ken from Street Fighter series. And he is a member of the same clan too, as well as Kabal. Li Mei is a warrior from Outworld, who is trying to win a Mortal Kombat tournament to win a freedom for her enslaved people, that was enslaved by, if i'm not mistaken, Shang Tsung and Quan Chi. Ashrah on the other hand, is a demon in human form, from the Netherrealm. She served Quan Chi for a long time as a memeber of brotherhood of shadows cult, but later she question Quan Chi's orders and escaped, trying to find a way to free herself from a bond with Netherrealm, so that she could not return back in there and start a new life. Darrius is a warrior and a leader of resistance from the Order Realm, who is fighting it's regime for freedom. And one of the regime warriors and his enemy are Hotaru, who is basically like a officer in Order Realm, who brings the law to this realm. Kinda like Judge Dredd lol. Shujinko is a main protagonist of MK Deception. He is basically been fooled by Onaga - the real Outworld ruler, to collect all kamidogu relics for him. And so now, Shujinko is aiming to stop Onaga, to prevent him from taking over Outworld and destroying other realms. And Dairou is former good guy from Order Realm, where he was basically a hero because he saved many lives in there. But, when he got pissed of and killed someone, he got sentenced a whole life in prison. And when he escaped, after Darrius and his members attacked Order Realm, he became a mercenary, and now working for Onaga, but his main goal is to kill Hotaru for unfair, in his opinion, sentence.

What's interesting about Kenshi's Hara-Kiri is that it's called "Seppuku". Basically a real-life form of suicide used by samurais for ritual purposes.
Harakiri is a vulgar name for seppuku, though both mean the same. Setsu=kiri=cut, fuku=hara=abdomen.

9:34 Li Mei was my favorite character in MK: Deception. I used to destroy everybody with her and Baraka lol. She was in the story mode in Mortal Kombat 10, she was talking to Johnny Cage and Sonya about Outworld and the people that was coming. It sucked that she wasn't a playable character, I was really looking forward to that. I hope she's in part 12 though, it's rumored that Onaga (who was the villain in this one) is going to be the main villain in part 12 again. Fun Fact: Li Mei was Onago wife for a while according to her arcade story in this one, so if he's going to apart of 12 that means, she has too as well🙌💪🔥

Yeah, the reason why there was no hero from the first games (Sonya, Johnny, Jax, etc) besides Liu Kang it's because in the previous game, MK: Deadly Alliance, all of them died against Shang Tsung and Quan Chi, only Raiden got to live because although he died, he is a guardian god so he was resurrected but in a dark way. Before Mortal Kombat was rebooted, there were 7 canon games, so it's not weird that you guys don't know about many characters from this games, the most recent games are more simple with their character roster.

Genuinely one of my favorite MK games ever
just found yalls channel thru the overwatch shorts.
So basically:
Shujinko is "Wrong place, wrong time", the character. When he was still young, he got tasked with finding the Kamidogu, which are McGuffins scattered around the realms, to revive the One Being (which, in-universe, is essentially God), and he has the ability to copy moves from others, but the guy spent so much time messing around during his mission that he got old.
Li Mei was introduced in the prequel, Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance. She's a fighter who actually won the tournament, but Shang Tsung took her soul and put it into one of Onaga's undead soldiers. Bo' Rai Cho managed to undo it, but that corrupted her soul, and she became Onaga's servant anyways.
Hotaru is "fucking idiot", the character, but Lawful. He's from Orderrealm, so he tries to maintain order.
Havik is the complete opposite. He's from Chaosrealm, and he exists solely to spread chaos around, completely insane. He appears in Joker's ending in MK11, becoming besties with him.
Ashrah is a demon who got her hands on a holy sword and her soul gradually became more and more cleansed everytime she killed a demon with the sword. She wants to become completely cleansed so she can leave the Netherrealm
Noob - Smoke is essentially a tag team of Noob Saibot and Smoke
Kobra and Kira are Black Dragon recruits, taken in by Kabal. Unfortunately, as a final test, they have to fight each other to the death.
Darrius and Dairou are just there.
Liu Kang is a zombie in this one because he was killed by Quan Chi and Shang Tsung in MK Deadly Alliance
Raiden is dark in this one because, well, he blew himself up to try and stop Onaga (and killed Shang Tsung and Quan Chi in the process), but came back fucking pissed at the mortals for causing the return of Onaga, which made him dark, I guess.

Fun fact- Havik made a appearance in MK 11 Ultimate during Joker’s Arcade Ending by being in the Netherrealm and being “Boosum Buddies” 😅
Also there is a new for MK 12 that we might get back Konquest Mode in the game since Ed Boon twitted a poll on what the fans want to see for future game and Konquest won it. So it might be a interesting time to see and play since these old MK games had open world Quest Mode in their games.

man, i remember playing this game ages ago. Of the 3 games that came after MK4, Deception was my favorite. They were experimenting with new characters. MK9 rebooted the frenshies so a lot of them didn't come back but they're referenced here and there.
Hopefully they bring some back in MK 12 since it’s supposed be a new storyline 😀

Kira & Kobra: basically just members of Kano's Black Dragon Gang
Shujinko: the Hero of MK Deception, trained by Bo Rai Cho and has abilities of Most of the Characters in the game.
Dairou: Unsure
Noob-Smoke: Noob Saibot and Smoke in one slot.
Ashra: also unsure.
Darrius: a leader of a resistance, kombating Shao Kahn's Forces.
Li Mei: Edenian Warrior
The ps2 Mortal Kombat games were easily the best. Also, there are so many ps2 era characters from the old timeline that would fit so well in the new timeline. So many of them have interesting endings and lore and yet they got left behind, and many of them like Li Mei, Hotaro, Havik and some of the others from this timeline who aren’t in this game, but in MK Armageddon (the follow up game to this) people like and are popular. Thankfully Fujin and Frost are some characters that got story relevance in mk11 so hopefully there will be more in mk12
I was just thinking about how you guys have a day of the week dedicated to fighting games, aka Fight Night Friday, and it hit me: I think the reason there are so many videos for fighting games and they make for such good reactions is that since MOST fighting games either don’t have a story mode or a very weak one at that (there are exceptions), it’s up to those “intros” and “finishers” and move-sets and dialogue to get across a characters personality and story. Even Guilty Gear Strive makes it so by just character’s “themes” you can get a good grasp on their personality and story.
We like stories as well though. But yeah our channel kind of grew because of the mortal Kombat reactions like these so always have a fond place for fighting games 😊
Nice 😀 My favorite ones are Sub-Zero when he plays Ice Baseball with the opponent’s head Fatality, Sindel’s Scream Fatality, Liu Kang’s Body Switch Fatality, Darius Fatalities, Shao Kahn’s Fatalities, and Bo Rai Cho’s Fart Fatality. But definitely Sub-Zero has the best Hara Kiri. Overall MK Deception was super fun. Oh and you should see the part where Ermac says SUCK IT during his Sky Temple stage death

Some of the characters you saw were some new Earthrealmers that kinda weren't that popular. Some of the others are from Chaos Realm and Order Realm, which have only been referenced in the latest games and not introduced in the new games yet.
I ordered Mortal Kombat Deception PS2 game and it was no game cover but the game cd. Also Scorpion stole Sub-Zero’s head rip fatality 😂. Noob Saibot and Smoke are partners in Deception.

Kung Lao, Johnny Cage, Sonya, Kitana, and Jax all died due to the events of the previous game, Deadly Alliance. They're reanimated by the Dragon King Onaga and serve him until Ermac and Lui Kang's soul can break his control of them.

Shujinko is one of the characters of Mortal Kombat Deception and Armageddon, and inside Mortal Kombat Deception,(in konqueat mode;it's like story mode) you play with shujinko, when you start konquest mode shujinko is young man and when you finish konquese story mode hes old and his abilities are from different characters in the game, such as Raiden, Sindel, Lei Mei, and... I don't remember the rest

Deadly Alliance and Decpetion added a bunch of new characters and Deception especially did away with most the classics.
The spark notes is the story mode for deception, which is so good, is Shujinko's quest throughout all the realms so most these new characters are not Earth Realmers.
You should do a reaction to the fatalities of Mortal Kombat Deady Alliance. I think some of ur favorites are there and along with some new ones also.

Some of the 3d era characters are cool and some of them are not li mei is cool hotaru is cool shujinko is cool havik is good story wise in endings kira is underrated
Havik would be fun i think if he ever is playable again (joker was fun why not Havik)
Can handle watching a man get cut in half, decapitated, or explode, but a neck snap gets them over the edge (ngl i feel the same way)

If you want to know more about Ashrah she is a demon who has discovered a means for escaping the Netherrealm I think the hara-kiri that Ken was referring to is Hotaru's with the twisting of the head. My favorite hara-kiri is Nightwolf's and one of the worst ones was Sindel's hara-kiri when her neck was bent. And my favorite death traps are the pit and the golden desert when Darrius got smashed with the buddha statue.

I'm not a bloodthirsty sicko. :P Also did you notice that at about 5:10, Mileena's torso kinda twitched/jerked while impaled on Baraka's blade? It's kinda subtle, but a bit disturbing when you see it.

This chapter of MK is called the "3D era" and consists of MK4, Deadly Alliance, Deception, Armageddon and MK vs. DC. it is a very underrated period of MK and a lot of old fans want to see these obscure characters in MK12.

Fun fact: Hara-Kiri comes from Japanese and it literally translates to "Belly-Cut" 腹(Hara) and 切り (Kiri).
Info dump: Shujinko is the main character for Deception, you'll play as him in Konquest mode as he was given the power to copy fighting styles and abilities of fighters he trained under. Gameplay wise/purely cosmetic it LOOKED like he shapeshift into a random fighter but in reality he's just copying their movesets [devs are just lazy in reporgramming one character to use everyone's movesets] If let's say he transforms into Sub-Zero or Liu Kang he's only just using their movesets. In Arcade Mode he has few abilities he copied from several fighters.

Actually, Hara-Kiri is basically a suicide and it can be done by player who lost the fight and don't want his opponent to do a fatality on him. That is what Hara-Kiri is for. Also, Hara-Kiri basically translates as suicide from Japanese, and it comes from Japanese warriors like samurai for example.
And Noob - Smoke is just a team of a two characters: Noob Saibot and Smoke. And by witching between the fighting style, you selecting another character. Like, Smoke or Noob. Also, that first Noob's fatality was from Reiko from MK4.
About Kira. She is a member of a black dragon clan, which is Kano's clan. And basically, she is a Kano's girlfriend. The same with Kobra. But also Kobra is a joke character, that is a ripoff of Ken from Street Fighter series. And he is a member of the same clan too, as well as Kabal.
Li Mei is a warrior from Outworld, who is trying to win a Mortal Kombat tournament to win a freedom for her enslaved people, that was enslaved by, if i'm not mistaken, Shang Tsung and Quan Chi.
Ashrah on the other hand, is a demon in human form, from the Netherrealm. She served Quan Chi for a long time as a memeber of brotherhood of shadows cult, but later she question Quan Chi's orders and escaped, trying to find a way to free herself from a bond with Netherrealm, so that she could not return back in there and start a new life.
Darrius is a warrior and a leader of resistance from the Order Realm, who is fighting it's regime for freedom. And one of the regime warriors and his enemy are Hotaru, who is basically like a officer in Order Realm, who brings the law to this realm. Kinda like Judge Dredd lol.
Shujinko is a main protagonist of MK Deception. He is basically been fooled by Onaga - the real Outworld ruler, to collect all kamidogu relics for him. And so now, Shujinko is aiming to stop Onaga, to prevent him from taking over Outworld and destroying other realms.
And Dairou is former good guy from Order Realm, where he was basically a hero because he saved many lives in there. But, when he got pissed of and killed someone, he got sentenced a whole life in prison. And when he escaped, after Darrius and his members attacked Order Realm, he became a mercenary, and now working for Onaga, but his main goal is to kill Hotaru for unfair, in his opinion, sentence.
