Overall a moderately difficult mountain hike, as quite a few kilometers are covered. Some surefootedness is also required on the descent.
The ascent is mostly on tracks and is therefore rather easy.
If you start at the valley station in Immenstadt in the direction of Mittagberg, you climb directly up the pipe of the hydroelectric power station to Sennalpe Hochried. You can then switch from the asphalt road to a rooty forest path, at least as far as the middle station.
A fantastic panoramic view over Sonthofen and the Allgäu mountains awaits you at the top. From here, we recommend taking the alternative descent route via Alpe Oberberg and Alpe Derb. This will take you past the Bärenköpfle and there are two nice places to stop for refreshments along the way. The way back from Alpe Derb to the valley station is a little longer, but leads across beautiful meadows and through small forests.
