I had one on order from back in November and then I came across the Lasermatic Mk2. Cancelled the L8 and ordered the LMMk2 and I’m glad I did. The L8 looks nice but for the price, the LMMk2 is a nice step up.
That was some good info. The photo quality was amazing for luan and I imagine it would be top quality on Maple. I might have to consider this one in my list of upgrades, from my Longer 10 watt.
I've had mine on order since early December. Just had an email today that there's delays and hopefully be delivered by the end of January..... If not, MARCH! This is going to kill me as my LC-40 died last night.
To me, they are totally different. The MK2 is better but comes with a higher price tag. My MK2 is also a 30 watt, not a 20. The L8 is budget friendly but comes with a bit less build quality.
You made a comment in a recent video that you connect to your machines wirelessly with your laptop. Maybe you covered this in a previous video, but what do you use to wirelessly connect to your machines? Thanks again for your videos!
The ones that have the options in their software. Most lightburn controlled machines do not have the option. Ortur does have the capability in the LM3.
Could I get your lightburn dev file for setup? I have a friend who is having trouble getting lightburn to connect and wants me to come over and help them get setup.
I finally took delivery of mine on Thursday. So far I've managed to waste 4 pieces of wood because the machine is constantly alarming out even when it's just stood idle and not cutting/engraving. I've seen on the TF card there's a firmware update and Lasertool flashing software but I can't get it to work..... On my older LC-40, you had hold the reset button while you turned the machine on to put it in flash mode, anyone any ideas how to do that on the L8?
I did update the firmware on mine, the old firmware had some alarm issues. I do remember using the software, it will prompt you on how to put it in update mode
@@TheClackShack I’ve emailed Sainsmart about it. Just hope they come back to me soon. There’s no prompt or instructions on how to enter update mode. I’ve gone back to the trusty LC40 for now.
Just curious, I am trying to decide between the L8 since i have the prover xl and the atom stack A24. Im looking for something I can take with me to some shows but bigger than the F1 or Laser pecker. Either of these do you see being capable of transporting?
@@TheClackShack wow thank you. Knowing you use it seals the deal for me. You know your stuff. I think the camera on site would be awesome, I've never used one up to this point on my D1. I'm looking to get a purifier with it as well. which one if any do you use? Thanks again
Hey Clack. I have done long butcher block counter tops before. I like the open bottom of this system for that reason. Given the option, would you pick this laser or the lasermatic?
So i am between the lasermatic roly mk2 and the genmitsu L8 i see that at least early on you have mentioned the roly would be your choice, but do you think that is just with the 20w version of the L8 would the 40w version possibly be more on par or surpass the 30w version of the mk2?
It is designed similarly, the construction isn't as rigid and it doesn't have a bottom to the enclosure. Also, the L8 is a 20 watt where the MK2 can be a 30.
Love your videos, I find them very helpful! Thank you!
Glad you like them!

I agree, the engineering in the lasermatic is a step up.
Looks like a nice step up from the open frame lasers. Love the pause on the lid opening feature!
That was a nice touch.
Hopefully it's a good sign that more companies start coming out with fully enclosed and equipped diodes. Not a bad price either.
It isn't bad considering the performance. I think more companies are headed that way.

Not a bad machine, and pretty affordable for the build.

Maybe soon. Good luck
Looks like they're trying to resemble the Roly Lasermatic
It does appear they are leaning that way.
Hello, would you please share a interval test result of this machine? Thanks.
I do have one.
Awesome quick overview video 👍. Have you tried over types of materials? If so, how did it performed?
It performs as good as any others. It is a pretty hot 20 watt
Not fair, I'm still waiting for mine. They said it won't be shipped out till after the first. I ordered it back in november. I ordered the 40w
You will be glad I helped them fix the firmware. They send me a lot of prerelease stuff.
I am currently deciding between this machine and the LaserMATIC Mk2. Which one would you recommend?
Depends on budget, the MK2 is built a little better
Can you compare the Genmitsu L8 and the Roly Lasermatic MK2. I am really tossed between the two.

@@TheClackShack Thank you sir.
Been waiting for a review video on this machine, but unfortunately they don't ship to Australia? :(
That’s too bad
Need some help with the software. It’s a brick and I can’t get the software to see the laser. So far the instructions are horrible. Any advise?
Are you using lightburn? Make sure you add the driver, I think it is on the as card or thumb drive. (Can’t remember which)
Is pass-through available without lifting it up on the feet?
Yes, but it is limited height
@The Clack Shack how does this compare to WeCreat Vision Laser Engraver
I prefer it over the wecreate due to lightburn compatibility

Hey Clack. I have done long butcher block counter tops before. I like the open bottom of this system for that reason. Given the option, would you pick this laser or the lasermatic?
It is a good machine, the Lasermatic is heavier built and has linear rails. This one isn't bad but not quite up to the lasermatic.
What software do you use for this unit?
Lightburn
Thank you for the review! Seeing the unit is essentially bottomless, can this unit be placed on a flat object, like a door for engraving???
Yes, the engrave will be limited unless you tile.
There's a file in the TF card, "L8 Camera calibration file.lbcm", how do we use it???
I did my own calibration, you can load the file but I prefer to do my own.
Any advice for calibrating the camera? Seems the coordinates are always off.
Only use a half sheet print. Take your time. The cameras are never perfect but will be really close.
@@TheClackShack thank you for the help! Take care and be safe!

I would be afraid to say without testing but the output of the 20 watt is pretty good.
Where can I find the firmware patch?
I am assuming their website. Should be under support
The camera is crap, the calibration is so difficult and innacurate~
I have had good luck with mine. The camera calibration is the same as any other lightburn camera.
Is it normal after calibration to not see the entire bed? If so I will stop endlessly calibrating to achieve it. Thanks
@@matthews5531 it you don’t place the cards in the corners, yes
How do you like it Sainsmart vs Roly (lasermatic)? If you had the cash witch one ? Not to put you on the spot but.....Be well and be saafe,💯❤
It is early to throw stones but the Lasermatic has an edge on build quality. Similar features, just a little better built.
How do you think this measures up to the Acmer P2?
The L8 is a 20 watt, they have similar characteristics if you had both in 20 watt.

So the mk2 even at 20w would be a better machine?
