I am so glad that these two met and that their brilliance shone. Ain't no stopping us now" came out when I was a child and it is still the baddest tune ever. So sad that their lives were so tragically short, but for sure their music will live on forevermore. Rest in peace Gene & John and thank you. What an amazing legacy ❤

Just a thought...if you talk about the success they had behind the scenes with their writing, why not tell us some of the songs you're talking about? I still know very little about their writing careers other than they sang Aint No Stopping Us Now...and I knew that before.
AINT no stopping us is a cookout song.
ThAT song would never have happened had Jimmy Williams not come up with the main bass line. They were going to end the session and do something else but Jimmy was like, "Let me try something" and bam, one take and it was done. He should have been listed as a writer and got publishing on it. Instead, he only got paid for playing on the session. As someone who has played bass on a fair amount of tunes by Black producers (I'm Black), I can't begin to tell you how often Black producers rip Black musicians like this.

If you’re from Philadelphia you know they were musical royalty. You can’t hear Ain’t No Stopping Us Now and not remember the version they did for the 76ers Championship run. It was everywhere. This song come on at work last week and I was singing the 76ers version and I don’t ever like bball😂.
