@@PatriciaCrabtree-wm8xdBulgakov is still on my TBR list... I've heard a lot about 'The Master and Margarita' but have not yet managed to give it a try. So many great books and so little time 😅
Good day, David. When I listened to your introduction I thought you were describing The Gormenghast novels by Mervyn Peake. Carrington I knew as artist, not writer, so this is an interesting surprise, especially since like Peake's nightmarish books, It's something I'd enjoy.
Peake's characters are something out of an enchanting nightmare. Turns on its head Christian Anderson, Lewis Carroll, and Brothers Grimm books and infuses them with Poe, Angela Carter, and maybing Carrington's book. Now I'm curious if he read it. @@heathereads
@LibroParadiso-ep4zt I've never heard of Mervyn Peake! Sounds like something I'd like to explore. That's the beauty of booktube: one can meet so many interesting people who can give excellent recommendations. Thanks a lot, - I'll give the Gormenghast trilogy a try! Best regards, - David 😊
The feeling is mutual, David. I will be looking for Carrington's book. I have a Peake biography somewhere around and see if she is referenced. Best to you from Texas. @@polyglotreading
Thank you for the video. Her art work was very interesting. This sounds like it could be an episode of The Twilight Zone. Well done making something I normally wouldn't be interested in and making it interesting. Well done.
@FacelessBookReviews-wr5vl Thank you for the positive feedback! I'm happy to know that I managed to raise your interest in this book. This is what I want to achieve with my channel 😊
@@polyglotreading You are welcome. I'm finding that I'm getting a lot of enjoyment hearing reviews on things I probably won't read. It's like I'm able to get the jist of it and enjoy it without reading. Sounds lazy but I know I won't read certain books...anyways keep up the good work.
@@FacelessBookReviews @FacelessBookReviews-wr5vl I think I know what you're talking about. Sometimes it is enough to see pictures of scenic views along the hiking trails one has decided not to follow 😊
Whew! What literature can do and what a 91-year old can do. You had me at her cat hair sweater plans.
... and that's just one sentence on page 4 or 5. The book is full of hilarious oddities like this.
@@polyglotreading Am finishing The Master and Margarita; this looks like a proper sequel.

It is interesting to know that Peake's work is similar. I have wanted to read the Gormenghast trilogy - I must give it priority

@@polyglotreading lol well said sir.
Just spent an overnight gypsy opium dream with Ms. Leatherby. Marian sends you her best. Got out alive; am home safe; no more port or sardines for me.
So glad you've made it. Maybe the right time to celebrate with one of Carmella's cigars?
Sure. Enjoyed whenever Carmella came on scene.
