Can I send you pictures of our dead giant cottonwood tree? 5 years after it died the bark fell off and we were shocked at the state of the wood underneath, all kinds of healed over scarring, large low areas which must have been dead for decades if not a century, and yet the bark atop was uniform in appearance, I am curious to know what could cause unseen damage under the bark like that
I'm so glad to have found your Channel, Roger. Hope you hop down to monmouthshire again, we have lots of curiosities!
Many thanks. I have a new grandson at Caerphilly so I will get a chance to explore your county on 'days off' :-)
