I had my 1st session with my new client. It was mostly pairing and playtime. I was anxiety ridden. I was also learning the program on the ipad, while working with my kiddo. I was able to implement some of the programs while pairing. It seemed to go well. But, i wont coynt my chickens before they hatch. I love your videos. You've helped to give me a confidence boost! Hey Jessica, from what I have learn the less words the better. This depends on the client's level of verbal skills, cognitive level, etc. Kids have short attention spam so i do not think using a lot of words helps :) this is from what i have learned, hope this helps i am still brand new to ABA
@@julissamendoza9412 Exactly. For early learners, saying something like "Hello there! Will you do me a favor and touch the cup, please?" will most likely end up not being successful. The learner needs to discriminate the relevant vocal stimulus....is it "hello", "there", "you", "the", "touch", etc...etc....? If reinforcing receptive identification to a brand new learner, I would initially just go with the relevant vocal stimulus "Cup". Even "touch" and "the" are not really important. It's still receptive identification if the learner touches, picks up, elbows, places his nose on it or whatever.
How are you taking data each response whether it’s incorrect or no response is an error? While doing airless learning if you’re doing a full physical prompt but yet your data only shows plus or minus would that still be a minus? I think that’s where I get thrown off. Also, you’re not taking data points for transfer trials.
Quick question for listeners responding+ command error correction prompting,(cup)why did you go from full physical to partial physical to gestural and then to model?
great examples, would have love to see the examples with data collection, and reinforcers used, also when the listener got an incorrect response when the target was replaced on the table they were switched around even though the listener got an incorrect response - shouldn't the target stay in the same location for the error correction?
thats a great idea! the reason for the switching is to prevent positional bias. We do not want to teach that the correct response is on the right or left, we want the learner to discriminate the actual stimulus.
@@allaboutaba1875 you should always present that first (errorless) trial in as close to the same format/layout as the initial (errored) trial. That's exactly what 'resetting' is -- you're resetting the now-teaching environment to match the environment within which the error initially occurred. Ideally, we'd just travel back in time to the precise moment(s) the error occurred and correct it under the same exact conditions in which it was emitted. it's impossible to go back in time, so we try to get the environment as close to identical as we can. you might rearrange during the transfer trial(s) but it's most likely that you'll rearrange during or after the check trial. initial stimulus presentation probably contributes more to side-bias than anything else that we do throughout session. and to make matters worse, practitioners display side-bias as well. so, it's very important that we arrange our teaching arrays/targets before we even start new teaching sessions or trial blocks. i've heard it recommended that practitioners might find it helpful to arrange their arrays during a portion of the learner's break (away from the table, etc).

Hello, I'm going to be attending school soon to become a BCBA but I was wondering why this field lack the balance of men than their is women? And is men in this field in high demand?
Congratulations on taking the step to become a BCBA 👏🏽 we wish you luck as you study. This field is definitely predominantly women but there are more men choosing to join the field. We do not have any data to support that claim nor do we know why that is, wish we had an answer for you. In my opinion, I think men are in high demand especially with specific cases.

One of my clients always get frustrated and engages in maladaptive behaviors when I implement errorless teaching or error correction.
