Imagine being such a good singer that songs like this are taken half seriously and done in one take but still sound amazing.
Well the actual singing for the recording is sung at a different time than just recording the video. So he can be as humorous as he wants while he lip syncs for the video. If you want an example of when that is most obvious go watch "GREEN DAY - Boulevard of Broken Dreams (Cover by Jonathan Young & Caleb Hyles" ... They show that the mics and headsets aren't even plugged in humorously and Jonathan even stops lip syncing for a bit while the song still plays.
