From a storytelling and writing perspective, I think it was a really brilliant decision to tell Violet's personal story through the eyes of the people she meets, rather than having Violet herself telling what she is feeling or thinking - since the whole point of the story is that she struggles both to understand and communicate her inner feelings, it would've been hard to make her an interesting or relatable character, if every episode was her just being stoic and confused about other people, instead having other people react to her social shortcomings, and by having the episode focus on Violet learning about that other person, and what they are trying to express, we also learn indirectly about what kind of character Violet is, without it having to be explicitly stated. Introverts, stoics, and emotionally repressed characters are really hard to write as main characters, simply because their defining characteristic is that they *don't* express themselves well. One common solution is expressing their thoughts through internal dialogue, or exaggerated animated expressions - but in the case of Violet, part of the problem, is that she doesn't even really understand herself, what she is feeling or why, and so an internal monologue wouldn't really be able to describe her character all that well either, compared to having other characters notice and react to her behavior instead.
It is nice to see that you feel good just by seeing how well done is this animation and the characters design, and so. I remember when I saw it for the first time and I really felt the same. The next episodes are also beautiful, not just by the aesthetic, but the stories within each one of them. Thats the kind of anime that makes you feel your heart a little warm 😅
In case no one’s told you, the OVA should be watched between 4 and 5. And you’ve mentioned it less over time, but you should know that Violet is closer to 10 while the men are closer to 30, so the predicted romances may be… misinterpreted.
Rip Luculia’s name 💀
@@mcdcrss43 Thank you for sending!! And I’ll try to remember that haha
