I loved Sidra. The scenarios she was in, and the way she experienced things and voiced her perspective, were so relatable. As an autistic person, I felt seen.

I have read her first trilogy. I really love that she writes strong characters and emphasizes character over plot (unusual for classic scfi), and yet somehow manages to have intriguing, thought provoking themes running throughout the plot. And her prose is clean and laconic and pulls you right along, not overly dense or flowery. Also, she happens to have a nice reading voice apparently. Keep writing, girl.

GREAT INTERVIEW. Love Becky and her work, currently half way through ’A closed and common orbit’ now and love it. The world building in her work is magnificent. I wonder what role her experience with Role Playing Games feeds that skill, i know she mentioned D&D, i grew up playing a range of RPG including Traveller a Sci-fi based system.
Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations of other modern sci-fi/fantasy authors that resonate with them like Becky’s work does? I love Neil Gaiman, William Gibson and even Jim Butchers Dresden File series. Any recommendations especially enjoy the LGBTIQ influences, love from West Australia

I’m half way through a closed an common orbit too!!!! I absolutely ADORE it. It’s such a beautiful, important book. It’s exciting to think your reading it too! (Maybe your finished now)
And lots of other people 😊
I love your question as well! There’s so much to be fascinated by! I’m glad I’m here.
I recommend Ursula K Le Guin - all her work but especially her short story collection called The birthday of The World. - I loved it’s exploration of diverse relationship styles.
I also highly recommend a book called Dream Snake by Vonda McIntyre. I found it very beautiful and exciting when I read it.
I’m excited for your continued explorations! And thank you for your recommendations! I’m about to google.

34:30 I had an old school big-wig at work once commenting that wearing "professional" ironed dress clothes made him more productive because it put him in a serious mindset.
No part of my brain can relate to that. Jean's, tshirt, and a hoodie is were I'm at for work. Dress clothes are for presentations, weddings, and funerals. None of which speak very much of "work" to me.
