Sare jahan se acha Hindustan Hamara !!! The Indian soil has given birth to so many legends and here we are !! Amjad Ali Khan.. No boundaries, No religion, No politics nor politicians can divide what God has created... This is the music of Heavens in its form ... Salute to Humanity !!! Amjad Ali Khan the true form of humanity live and alive... The truth and the goodness of the Lord will always dwell in his creations... Praise the Lord almighty who has given this heavenly sounds of the true nature of heavens...
Wow... It should be a very proud moment for the great Ustadji to share the stage with his 2 talented boys and play music together... its one of my dreams to play Violin with my son.... Thank you Ustadji for the beautiful music you have always produced..God Bless Humble request to all those who talk about religion... please do not bring religion, politics and unwanted discussions in music forums... there are lot of other forums to discuss politics and religion... here in music forums, please enjoy the music... discus about music... not religion and beaf and all... we are all HUMANS... not hindus or muslims or anything...Its a very humble request.
Ustad Amjad has been a great inspiration. He has trained his sons so well to take the music to the next generations. This is a real great contribution.
Fantastic rendering of the two भजन by thegreat maestro himself . A treat to the ears . i have always liked and loved to listen to SAROD over to sitar because of the human voice नाद of सरोद .
Just to say thanks a lot for uploading ... all played raaga including "Vaishnab Janto", "Raghupati Raghav" and "Jodi tor dak" a precious work of Rabindronath Tagor were too tremendous presentation to say...
Mesmerising performance. God bless them with a long and healthy life,s so that they can shower such beautiful spiritual please to millions and millions of people.Proud to be an Indian
The sawal jawab in Raag Desh is great. Ustad Amaan and Ustad Ayyan are equally great like their father. They will keep their gharana Flag flying high for next Generation and make our music to go into next century.
Ustad Amjad Ali plays all the iconic melodies of India--sacrosanct through generations of reverence--and it is such a magnificent contribution. He is such a wonderful cultural ambassador. What a blessed life. Those who haven't heard his rendition of Bande Mataram, should..
Soulful music. Nothing less can be expected from Ustad Amjad Khan and his disciple sons. Will someone who wrote the closed captions correct them please. This is not sitar music. It is called Sarod.
It's good but he has much better performances !!! and the subtitle shows several times SITAR instead of SAROD ......also I don't know why the word DRUM is used instead of TABLA in the subtitle....and his performances are always so refreshing even though the same compositions he has played several times in different occasion !
Does anyone know the background or organizers of this? I'm specifically interested in the amplification - four simple mikes with some sort of directional shield, 12 or 8 inches away, and it sounds GREAT? Mike type, preamps, any guesses? And all the sarods are IDENTICAL, no? P.S. LOVE the music, "playing in the band" is not conventional but it surely is a path growing wider and deeper every passing year. We HAVE to encourage experiments, even if the individual results aren't what we want. OF COURSE NOT, that's why it's an "experiment"....
+stubhead I did notice in a closeup that they are using Neuman km184 pretty darn nice mics, know for their ability to capture clear high frequency instruments like sarod, I would say they also add just a hint of warmth.
Sorry to say ayaan dada i am not being able to access u till now inspite of calling ustad ji at home, although he was buisy didn't have that good luck of mine to talk to him
i have seen amjad ali to cover his legs in all of his performances... why? i know they use their foot to maintain taal... but why hide it? ravi shankar never did that...
During the old days, the musicians used to perform for the Kings and it would be considered indecent if the musician's foot pointed towards the king. Hence out of respect, the musician would cover their feet. And the tradition continued. I, once had the opportunity to attend Pandit Birju maharaj 's concert and he explained this concept to the audiences.
They dont use their feet to 'always' and 'exclusively' maintain taal-it happens occasionally and in charged situations. There are two reasons as to why he does this. One is respect to the instrument-anything that is associated with Saraswati is given a certain elevation and the bare feet denotes baseness. Secondly is looks very DIGNIFIED. Your feet sticking out is an unprofessional and somewhat ungainly thing on stage. Just because Ravi Shankar or even Ali Akbar did it doesnt justify it by an means-its plain awkward. If you dress well overall then why neglect the feet. If your not wearing socks, then a shawl is a good solution really. Basic concepts of etiquette and propriety.
Irony is my friends. we miss the trance of such melody in debating on mere exposure of feet. I mean who cares .. are we in a state of calm and peace when we are listening to the instrument.?? are we actually feeling the music?? did the alap drowned us in meditation?? no, why ??cause we are after a Shawl...
great playing, but the tabla is miked/mixed horribly. I guess this it's not supposed to be a tabla performance, but with 3 sarodes, you need at least a little tone from the tabla.
Google made it happen once again. showing the common thread that " Samarpan to your Guru". Total submission to the Cause. Google can not made all things happened without this Key and that is already there in indian customs deeply. Thanks to Google.
No me han gustado, sinceramente. Y estoy escuchando mucha música hindú, pero la verdad prefiero a otros. Estos son muy lentos y su música no tiene chispa, le falta sal y pimienta, es plana, sosa.
Muslim musicians and artists gave so much to India and look what's happening now with Muslims. Being killed because Hindu Indians suspect them of having beef in the fridge. On top of that Hindu Indians condoning the killing of an innocent man who supposedly had beef in the fridge. Later the police found out it was not beef. Before anyone starts bashing :) I know this is not the right forum and we should enjoy music. But I am also enjoying the music of the maestro :)
+sightsandsoundsofpak ... just as some people say that terrorists dnt have religions... so does musicians...dnt forget there are also hindu maestroes... Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma, Pt Bhimsen Joshi, Pt Ajoy Chakroborty, Pt D.T. Joshi, Pt Hari Prasad Chaurasia.. Please dnt add religious colours in these sacred and heavenly sounds and their creators.... You cannot brand all hindus as bad.. because when you say so, you also include these precious and god like people in them... let muisc be their only religion...Its my request to you sir..
+sightsandsoundsofpak 1st question, do you know anything about music? 2nd question, would you accept Ustad Amjad Ali Khan after learning that he performs Saraswati puja at home? 3rd question, you have any idea on what's happening to Pakistani minorities on daily basis? Your extra obsession for religion and conversion has given the world such unrest, yet you look for others' faults?
+sightsandsoundsofpak are you sure enjoying this music? It started with Vaishnav janoto and after knowing the meaning of this song you would probably contact ISIS to take revenge upon this legendary maestro. :D
+sightsandsoundsofpak most of these so called muslim musicians have hindu ancestery.Hindustani music which they are playing is from Hindustan all the ragas and ragini these are sanskrit terms. and may be there was some Persian influence mind you Persian pre islamic not Arabic Islamic. Tansen was hindu many got converted due to mughal court. Amjad ali khan's wife is Hindu, Aamir Khan, Sharukh khan's wife is Hindu. Salman Khan, Saif Khan' s moms are Hindus. AR Rehman's musician Father is Hindu. Muzafar Ali's wife is hindu etc. Most of the successful liberal muslims you are quoting are half hindus , married to hindus even Mughals rulers after Akbar were half hindus. Even your ancestors were Hindus!

does it really bother you? i did not even notice that he was covering his legs because i was to much intoxicated by his performance.

great playing, but the tabla is miked/mixed horribly. I guess this it's not supposed to be a tabla performance, but with 3 sarodes, you need at least a little tone from the tabla.
did somebody know freetless guitar........
Why don't they sing?
India has many aspects of rythm and music ..Then it depends on a person to choose instruments or vocal arts
