I had bought 1 of this type of MP3 player from HongKong in 2006 which was for about HKD15. This has only 128MB storage, which also came with 2 chinese songs preloaded. Good that it takes 1 AAA battery. comes with USB mini female & a neckband & earphone. I still have the piece.

Nice vídeo. I was curious about the wma info. I searched and as far i understood, mp3 has smaller size files overall than wma, but wma has better compression so has better quality. Don't know the actual áudio experience, but it would probably change on the player implementation. Overall I don't judge because I used to convert all incompatible videos to wmv because I liked windows media player.

Back in the day I did a lot of listening in a studio setting before deciding to rip everything to WMA at 64KBps because it sounded equivalent to MP3 at 128KBps --- but at almost exactly half the file size. That meant twice as much portable music on my Xtatix player (and others)! Obviously, there are a lot of variables there, and a healthy application of the principle of "good enough."
Revisiting this decision, though, made me wonder if I'd do the same today. So just now I set up a blind test and had Tru (with much younger ears) listen to both of those options against the raw, uncompressed PCM. He SOMETIMES picked WMA/64 as the lowest quality, but not EVERY time, and agreed that all three are functionally equivalent, especially if you intend to listen in the car.
Given that 2GB cost $70 at the time, I still think it was a fair trade-off. And I'm glad I don't have to think about such things anymore.

@@geargraveyardHeh, I still dabble with audio conversion because I want to fit my own music on my phone while still having space for other stuff. I've settled on 128k AAC for the time being, for a lot of songs I find it extremely difficult to ABX against the lossless source.

I grew up poor so little cheap mp3s like these kept me happy. We couldnt afford ipods or zunes or whatever it was called 😂 those were the days, hiding my mp3 player from other students because i was already poor and didnt need to emphasize it more
