Do we really need spymasters to pump hard I do about 1.2m overall without spymasters just can’t get it to drop

Spymasters won't give you 900k, it's more about pull timings and which packs are pulled. I often get 500k difference doing the same things just because the team takes different routes, pulls the pack when I have or don't have cds or packs die too fast. Generally your damage in pugs will be less than in premade just because you need to react on what the team does

And skill obviously matters, I won't be able to do as much as Khaelt because I'm just a worse player - even though I'm generally orange logs he's 99% and those 4% is a greater gap than purple/orange
