I've watched this 100 times, just gets better every time. The bass & drummer are off the chain. The keyboard player killing it, the singers throwing down behind Chaka who is the greatest female singer of our times. The arrangements are bad ass, & this night it all clicked and fell into place. Big Groove, and Chaka showing the world she's still got it badder than ever age 60. Love You Chaka you are the queen of Funk, R&B & the greatest singer of our times ... The Best
Wish I could have been at this concert. She is my absolute favorite singer. Nobody can do it like Chaka. Have to give credit to singers and the band is great. Such talent.
yooooooo chaka is a beassssssst! she killed this show! and the band!!!!!!! omg i'm spazzing off the arrangement of aint nobody!!!!!!! AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DAMN!!!!!! and those background vocalists r on fire!!!!!!! this was a reli great show...great vocals (Chaka did her thang and her bkgnds supported her reli well and doing their own as well) and great music (Andrew Gouche is a fool on that bass....javan...whoooo) amazing amazing!!!
Oh nooo ohh noooooooo nooooooooooooooo this is sooooooooo sooooooo amazing, the best of best, no words for this performance...and believe me I really heard a lot
I don't understand why she fired this band. The arrangements gave her a fresh sound on some already classic songs. Hard to find a band and MD to pull that off like that. Gouche has been my favorite bassists since I was a kid. His cd is amazing too.
Stan Gatlin as a musician...when watching Gouche I tend to pay more attention to what he does vs the singer...and most singers wouldn't like that. Gouche have always been a busy bass player..he's awesome but that could be a possibility. Now I don't know for sure . It could be something totally different. But Thaddeus Tribbett video of him playing at a church playing Moving forward and he's another busy bass player and people was saying he's doing too much and taking away from worship and others was saying that's Tye tribbett style...having busy musicians lol which is true. ..I'm a bass player as well. I get busy when it's called for to get busy. I listen to my other musicians and the singer. Again busy isn't bad but if you're running every measure then some people don't like that and can overshadow singers. Well some singers prefer busier bass players. Depends who u play for I guess. People that aren't musicians probably won't notice what Gouche is doing on the bass ..killing lol. But yeah. Gouche always played that way and he's one of the most used bass players as far as gospel or Christian music.
Well I don't understand it either this is the BEST BAND SHE EVER HAD PERIOD say what you want about Gouche' being too busy he is KILLIN it I seen the previous bands with Melvin Lee Davis an OUTSTANDING bass player but I'M sorry they cannot top this band you can here and feel the GOSPEL ROOTS in this project ALL these musicians are KILLIN she will NEVER have a band SLAMMIN as hard as this GOUCHE' play and do you don't let the HATERS steal your JOY MAKE A JOYFUL NOISE UNTO THE LORD....PRAISE HIM ON THE STRING INSTUMENT!!!
I totally agree this was "Thee" band for her ... ! Playing and arrangements were killing. This band gelled so very well. Maybe change the male backup but this was off the chain
@Stan Gatlinburg Not sure why the band disbanded (could be a multiplicity of reasons, good, bad or situational)? It happens. Thats just da the business. But I doubt it's due to his bass playing....Chaka's had many "this is her best band ever", along with the accompanying great bass players putting down da stink. So I doubt it's for that reason. My 2 cents.
Fantastic i LOVE this woman she is my fave singer. She looks really good & has dropped alot of weight, go on Chaka. I luve she is having fun & doing what she does best & that's sing her ass off!
Hands up everyone who bought the first "Rufus" album when it came out (raises hand!) She's well past her very best (which I say as someone well past his own modest best) but it's great to see her performing and looking well because it wasn't always so.
Does anybody notice that sometimes Chaka sings higher than other times and sometimes slightly off key. I wonder if she does that on purpose. I didn't notice it in her younger days when she first began her career. Anyway she's still great for not having any formal training.
Yeah, Gouche is an exceptional bass player of our time and a great musician. But this woman.. To let him, the bass player (I mean WTF!!!) be the actual star of the show in musical context.. She is a wonder woman in every way. Not to mention she IS the voice of entire generation on all the globe.
@achiappa I think its a controller for his software. It looks like a digidesign. At this desk he starts samples or sequences (no not everything is live). "Aint nobody'" fi starts with a sequence but they came in wrong.
@achiappa they did cover it up very well. If you listen to another video Ain´t Nobody, Live In Pori Jazz 2002 the starting sequence is in time. It doesnt matter cause they fixed it like pros.
This show happened on July 9, 2011-- The Lineup: Chaka Khan (lead vocals); Andrew Gouche (director, bass); Sharetta Morgan, Tiffany Smith, Davion Farris (vocals); Yohei Nakamura (guitar); Javad Day (keyboard); Charles Streeter (drums). You're welcome.

Gouche one of the inspiration to be if you are a bassist
When she sang the line at the top of “Ain’t Nobody” 💐💐💐🤯🤯🤯
Does anybody notice that sometimes Chaka sings higher than other times and sometimes slightly off key. I wonder if she does that on purpose. I didn't notice it in her younger days when she first began her career. Anyway she's still great for not having any formal training.
God I love her ❤❤❤

Love it!
woe great
VIVA CHAKA KHAN
Some sequences, samples and of course the clic track for the musicians!
@Funkredible she rarely does a large set. I bet she could do a 20 song set if she really wanted to lol.
3:18 insane break!
Backround singers off the hook!!!
@DuxJerome they didn't use sequence in Chaka's shows back then.
@achiappa I think its a controller for his software. It looks like a digidesign.

"Aint nobody'" fi starts with a sequence but they came in wrong.
THE SWEET SWEET C. ❤.

Gouche smashes it at the Gladys Knight White House gig, right in front of Clinton. He was a Ken Smith then..awesome

Could anybody tell me who s the guitarist? I saw him also playing guitar in stevie wonder concert
Arranger:Andrew Gouche
The thread below about R&B, 'over-playing' and being sacked, is really interesting.
And he got on with Prince soon after…
Jay-Z on drums!
Where can I find part 2 of this concert ??
That's and MTD bass (Michael Tobias) probably and MTD 535.
MTD AG 635-24 No Notes M!SS!NG!
The player makes the bass not the other way around. Y'all need to stop sucking off Michael Tobias, his basses ain't all that bruh.
Andrew Gouche
the bass player is off the hook!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
