Thanks. The purple primer is messy. But where primer is required by code they want to see it so purple is specified in code. Clear is available if you want a cleaner look though.
Tom this video is amazing! I've never seen a full installation video like this. Great editing! I'd love to have you as a guest on my channel someday to walk me through some of my 3D plumbing modeling / installations in Revit. Keep up the great work. I'm sure this video will do very well!
Thank you for making and sharing this video. I am trying to figure out how much clear space I need to provide below a 14” floor joist for both 4” storm drain and 3” waste pipe if the pipe go perpendicular to the joist, and if we do not count the slope. Any suggestions? Thank you!
You can bring a drain right up underneath the joist, but then of course as it runs along it will need to have a slope. There is not a required clearance below. Thanks for watching.
Good question. DWV pipe is cellular core. That means the walls are not completely solid. This is fine for drains which are not made to hold pressure, just gravity flowing waste. DWV pipe even says "not for pressure" right on the pipe. Regular schedule 40 pipe for pressure has a solid wall structure and is made to hold pressure. It is fine for use on drains, but costs more because of the solid wall, so typically it is not used. If you already have some and want to use it, that should not be a problem at all. The outside diameter of both pipes are the same. Thanks for watching!
Good video, Tom! Nice job. Just slow down on the purple primer. It would be a perfect job if not for the excessive purple primer. I hate purple primer!
Hello Bruce. Thanks for watching, and thanks for your evaluation. I replied to your comment about primer on the other video. But I agree, it is messy. I use it because I believe it makes for a better joint connection. I make a mess because I am trying to move as fast as possible. I can tell you are a real professional! We need more plumbers like you!
Nice and clean work. That is how it is done, ladies and gentlemen ! PS: Always wonder when they will start making that primer in white or clear

Very helpful videos for a general understanding thanks
Great! Glad you found this one!

@@plumber-tom9470 Thank you so much! We will try our best to bore through some joists. Will go under the steel beam like you said.
Does your main pipe have to be dwv or can you use pvc with dwv fittings? I already have 3" pvc but it is not dwv.
