  • Trinic LLC. - GFRC Mixing Tips and Techniques - Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete
Many of our customers mix small quantities in less than ideal mixers. You can be successful if you take the time to properly shear though the material. Trinic’s in house testing indicates no measurable difference in strength in GFRC mixed with a dual shaft mixer and GFRC mixed with a high shear mixer. The one exception is barrel mixers which seem to have trouble eliminating lumps.

How much fiber per bag? SCC mix

That all depends on the fiber. For AR glass fiber you'll want to add 3%. PVA fibers very with the type: Recs15 = 1/2%, Recs100 = 1% and RFD400 = 1.5% All are dosed off of total dry weight, so for AR glass it would be 1.5 pounds per 50 pound batch.

Great video. I need to use 4.5 CF for my projects and I struggle getting all the mix then placement done timely. Would a concrete drum mixer work better? What is your recommendation?

I have a newly acquired eibenstock dual paddle mixer and it keeps shutting off, like I'm hitting an automatic overload feature, but I don't think I'm overworking it. Have you experienced anything like this?

You sell COLLOMIX but in the video you are using a EIBENSTOCK mixer. As someone shopping for a mixer, can you explain this? Is one better than the other?

Hi! Im trying to do my own mix and i find all products in my country but in liquid(superplactizer, silica fume and polymers) i mix it with water before add cement, it looks good but after 3- 5 days i get micro cracks on my countertops.. what did i wrong?

Thanks for the video. What I've learned is just to give it time when mixing and use a proper mixer. My basic mix drill simply won't cut it (it started burning :D). Also, with my test mix yesterday I've noticed it started setting fairly quickly, but it's 30°C here so that's why, and I've made a crucial mistake that I've added more water and started bleeding the water once poured.
What I'd like to ask you, with that dual paddle mixing drill, do you use top-down or down-up direction of the paddles (the one I have my eyes on have those two options for mixing), do you have any preference?
Also with larger applications like 2x1x0.03m, would you recommend to mix everything or do the facecoat first and then the backcoat? Cheers

We put the sand in the bucket first, then cement and all the admixes then add water and mix top down incorporating the sand last. It is easier on the mixer. Have all materials in the backer bucket (except water) do your face coat first then when it is almost ready mix your backer. Replace 25-50% of your water with ice and that gives you more working time. Just make sure all the ice is melted before placing the concrete.

@@TrinicLLC thanks heaps. one last question pls, in the first video, is your plasticizer added to the dry mix or to the water? So when you say 'Im adding more water', is that water + plasticizer or just pure water? If I have the plasticizer powder, I usually add it straight to the water and mix that up a little, but I wonder what your approach would be.
btw I'm still struggling with how quickly it starts setting ... at 5mins of mixing I see it's already setting up...what then ? more plasticizer or a bit of water ? cheers and fantastic videos you have here. subscribed

@@skywalknotpossible add the plasticiser to the dry mix. Adjust your mix with water. Send me your mix design at info@trinic.us and I’ll help you with the quick set issue. TH-cam it the worst place for me to communicate.

Is it possible to produce UHPC with this electric mini mixture?

  • @mauriciogonzalez6302

I thought that the mix was supposed to be kept under 60 and the last part of the video shows the mix getting up to 61 degree with the fiber being mixed in.
