When I was young in the 80s, there were many opera shows as compared to getai. I remembered just downstairs my house, there will be Chinese opera show at least once a year followed by banquet and bidding of 福物. It was a very crowded event with children running around, ice cream, rojak, mua chee sellers etc. Although I don't understand what the artistes were singing but flamboyantly dressed artistes wielding their "weapons" really fascinated me. I hope the Chinese opera will continue on so that more younger generation will appreciate this traditional art Thank you Tuesday report and for another wonderful documentary.
