Thunderbolt was supposed to come out in July of this year then December THEN it got delayed into next year.
Cap 4 was supposed to come out this year too and got delayed into 2025.
Mission impossible also got a year delay so did Avatar3

With all the source material for a Batman storyline to pick from. It really shouldn't take more than two years to write the dialog.
Perhaps Matt Reeves should hire a co-writer to help him get it figured out.
Honestly, I think what happened is that Warner Bros wants all the attention to be on James Gunn’s new universe! If the Batman part 2 were to release in the same year as Superman, this would allow for fans to watch Batman Part 2 over Superman and WB doesn’t want that!
I don’t think their target demographic are people so incredibly poor that they can only afford to go to the cinemas once in a year
That is why I don't think The Batman 2 is happening anymore.
Superman is coming out next year. I have to believe that the next character that Gunn will be focusing on besides Supergirl is Batman.
That would mean that Brave and the Bold would come out 27/28. Why would WB or Gunn want a competiting Batmans?
I heard an excellent point on Kristian Harloff’s Big Thing from Mike Kalinowski..space in production studios have to be booked well in advance, and the space in Scotland where The Batman was filmed, may simply be booked for the bulk of 2024

It really hurts to wait for another year. With that said. I hope the next part will be much better than part 1. I want to experience another masterpiece sequel
Reeves said he was deep into the script at the start of 2023.
Although Pattinson is my fav live action Batman, he wouldn’t be my first choice for the cinematic universe Batman. But at this point I wish James Gunn, Matt reeves and Pattinson could somehow just work him into the dcu.

Parallel to the gaming industry. Big dev studios have been putting out big name IP, but not enough time into making it good. Sometimes a slow down is a good thing.
We were so close to having Batman, Superman, and Fantastic Four films all releasing in the same year. Would have been gnarly.

I agree that, without more information, this doesn't appear justifiable. This movie should be pushed and prioritized hard after the success of the first one. Maybe there's enough justification but I'm not seeing it currently. 4.5 years between releases is a long time, nearly as bad as it's going to be for Shang Chi
Pattinson will be well into his 40s before a third film happens- if it happens. While the strikes and the pandemic have certainly caused a lot of delays over the last few years, nobody seems to care about getting certain films and TV shows out in a timely fashion anymore. So called prestige shows on streaming and cable average 18 months to 2 years between seasons now, and many blockbuster film franchises have gaps of 3-5 years(or more)between installments. This bodes ill for that proposed Harry Potter reboot on HBO, since all those young kids in the cast can't exactly put puberty on hold if the show can't produce its first 4 or 5 seasons annually

The Batman 2022 is my absolute favorite film of all time and iv been waiting for news on this and I’m just glad we got some news but I also am very bummed about the delay

Here's my theory. The Batman part 2 is pushed back that far because James Gunn is still trying to convince him to join the DCU. Reeves will give the okay, after he sees how Superman 2025 does at the box office, critics and fans. If it's a hit, then he'll join. If he doesn't, it'll be it's own thing
Reeves is not waiting for Superman to come out before he makes up his mind lol. He's not bringing it into the Gunn universe, Reeves nor Gunn wants that. Nor should we want that, Reeves created something special and it would only be harmed by introducing God's into it.
Honestly what worries me more is that we might have to wait even longer for the brave and bold 😭 im pretty sure they not gonna want 2 batman movies filming around the same time
I’m not so sure cus I feel like they’re gonna be vastly different films, but you could be right. I just think considering it’s a story with his son Damian Wayne and establishing the batfamily it’s gonna be different enough from what reeves is doing to not have to worry so much about having them so close together

Right now they don’t even have a production start date for brave and bold which makes me think it’s not gonna be happening until like 2027 so I definitely get your worry for it cus it does seem super far off atm
After the Penguin comes out, it will be announced that Robert Pattinson's Batman is a part of the DCU. The sequel will be TB&TB. Some of the events of the first movie are cannon. Not all, but some. The same thing has already happened with Peacemaker, Waller, Blue Beetle and the Arkham series. Stay tuned guys.
That’d be cool but why would only some of the movie be canon? Nothing happens in the movie that can’t be part of the larger universe

Imo, I would prefer Pattinson's Batman to stay separate. It's just too realistic & grounded to be a part of a superhero cinematic universe. Same reasons I wouldn't think Bale's Batman would work in the DCEU. And I doubt Pattinson would want to stay as Batman for 10+ years, he's too great of an Actor to stay tied to the comicbook movie genre only. Look at RDJ, left the MCU & won his first Oscar right away.
I prefer him to take his time with script etc. marvel tends to keep writing up until they’re filming and change during… we know how that turns out 😬

I think the pushback makes sense with Joker 2 in the fall. I guess DC and WB are concerned about having back-to-back years with two different Jokers
Originally they were talking about the Arkham series coming out before The Batman, I'm pretty sure. I'd say this is more James Gunn. I've heard they swapped Part 2's release date with the DCU's Supergirl
Considering it's taking 2 years to get a new season of a tv show, I'm not surprised that movies are being pushed back a year.
Exactly. It took HBO years to make a second season of HOD. Who knows when we'll even get a 3rd season.
I'm starting to really hate how TV series are taking 2+ years for another season nowadays. It makes me gravitate more towards limited series now, since you only have to invest into 1 season or so, then it's over.
@@lazzi2462ya...hell it's not like they even keep many good shows around for more than 1 or 2 seasons before they cancel them. Streaming services are flooded with good shows that are may not even be 2 seasons. At this point as soon as I realize there's not at least 3 seasons I just stop watching.

Anytime a film gets delayed, I’m all for it. The more time to fine tune the better. It’s only 5 or more years when it gets worrisome for me.
Let Penguin come out and hit MAX and get everyone ready for The Batman II … it’s not a problem for me it’s not like there isn’t anything else to watch until then. If The Batman is considered ElseWorlds let it set a little bit after Joker
I know Matt has said that he was a slow writer for the first movie and I respect that but it's been two years since it's release surely he'd be ready to cook part 2 by now.
I’m so tired of people bitching!!! This is actually a good thing, regardless of the time gap between the first and second movie, but let’s look at the facts. We just got past several months of the strikes last year which caused delays for several movies and their scheduled release dates. I was getting nervous because Matt Reeves is meticulously taking his time writing the script. Jeffrey Wright even hinted, saying he hadn’t read the script yet, and location scouting, casting, that all takes time. The film hasn’t even entered pre production yet, and James Gunn is already getting the Superman reboot underway. Gunn isn’t canceling The Batman 2, and is even supportive of Reeve’s trilogy placing it into DC Elseworlds. Yeah a lot of time will have passed, Robert Pattinson will be turning 40, while playing a 30+ year old Batman, but I’m sure the story will be top notch. It’ll all be worth the wait, and The Penguin is coming out later this year, which will be a good tease for what’s to come. Reeves and Pattinson are trying to make gold cinematic experiences, not some cash grab fast paced mindless sequel unlike Disney. Let the man cook, because The Batman is the best comic book film I’ve seen in years. DC films have been in turmoil lately, there’s so much reshuffling, and you can’t blame Gunn for wanting to give his new universe a successful startup next year. It seems like the studio or Matt Reeves really likes that October release window, so delaying another year to drop it at the right time seems pretty logical to me.

The Batman... year 6
The first movie came out around my birthday and I rented a movie theater from Cinemark and had my friends and family come. Got drunk af lol but I really loved it. I hope the next movie doesn’t delay more and more.
They should just worry about them making a Great James Gunn Batman film thats what i would like down the road

True. 4 years isn’t a crazy gap so I’m not too worried. I know some are worried it will get pushed back more later on because we also have that upcoming brave and the bold Batman movie coming at some point and some think they don’t wanna release those within like a year of each other

It suck to hear coz it’s the only dc thing I’m genuinely interested in and invested in. My only guess as to why it’s been delayed is could Matt reeves be working on writing the 3rd movies script as well and they could be planning on filming part 2 & 3 back to back and doing that to catch up on lost time ???

This could get me a lot of hate, but is it possible that Matt Reeves' heart isn't into it? Similar to John, I put the delay on Reeves, but comments he made around the release of the original make me think this was a one-and-done, and maybe he just hasn't cracked a script for the second movie that's gotten him excited.
That's actually a good point. Reeves might have been burnt out making the first one and just isn't inspired to make the second.

I say let the man take his time. We always bitch when movies are rushed but when someone takes their time to make a great movie we complain too. We are in a renaissance of cinema so there is plenty to keep us entertained.

Matt Reeves started his career at JJ Abrams studio (with Cloverfield), so of course he's working in the same way.
I wouldn't be surprised that The Batman 2 gets cancelled. Hollywood is changing rapidly, superhero fatigue, lots of faillures at the box office in general, and ... WB expected a much bigger box office from Part 1. I also have the impression that a lot of people like the look of the movie, but have massive problems with the slow pacing, making it a very boring Batman movie.

Matt's going to have 2. Like...I enjoyed snyders movies, and open to anything. But this gets so annoying. Literally waiting on a script. In that many years you haven't settle on ideas?!?! On a 6-9 hour trilogy? There's literally 24 hours of greys anatomy for the last 18 years and this is what batman fans have to look forward too. Smh

The only superhero I'm interested in is Batman. And after the unique Tim Burton movies, and the near perfect Nolan trilogy, I'm satisfied for the rest of my life. I liked both BvS and The Batman for what they were, but am I waiting for a sequel to the last one? Not really.

@@R2Mike The best movie I watched in a theater during the past decade, was a re-release of To Live and Die in LA. This 1985 classic blew me away ... it was fun, exciting, sexy, tough and smart ... an underrated noir masterpiece.
Since the pandemic I learned that the only films that fascinate me these days, are classics (pre-1990s). I'm currently discovering a lot of French cinema from the 70s - 80s, and it's pure joy!
A YEAR!?! Batman better be in the Penguin series. Also put the Arkham series back in the Reeves Verse. So we have some content to watch.
We wait 2 years and get penguin and then have to wait another 2 years. At least we have something in between. But on the first movie it got delayed from October to March. But they better not make us wait another 4 years for the third movie. I don’t care if it’s mid or bad I just want to see Matt reeves vision within at least a 10 year span and not twelve

I hope they give him a physical opponent this time. Riddler isn't a fighter which is why they needed to use Riddlers followers as the final boss fight in the first film.
Whether they use a more realistic character like Hush or Zasz or if they use a more comic book style character like Mr. Freeze or Bane, doesn't matter. I just want to see this Batman have to go to war this time around.
I hope I will be alive by 2026, I am going to be 48 by then. Matt Reeves has plenty of time to complete another masterpiece.

Honestly I love Matt Reeves The Batman universe, does seem stressful as a fan that’s so invested. I’d be happier if he took a Kevin Fiege role and had more control of the creative direction for the universe and we had more writers and directors involved so we’d have more time in this universe and it’d be easier for him if he’s taken on all these projects when it takes him so long. I also do worry it is them pushing it back because they’re worried about people comparing the universe’s and devaluing this new DCU if they list that as part of the problem is spacing it from this new Superman movie. Are these Batman movies going to then worry about there other big releases like what you guys said the next Batman for DCU could the release and filming be pushed again.

Don't think this has anything to do with The Batman 2 and everything to do with giving the DCU's Superman the space it needs.
I think so too but not just Superman. The DCU debut as a whole. Now it would’ve been nice to at least get another spin-off besides Penguin to entertain us.

Perhaps there's someone or some people who are in a position ABOVE Matt Reeves with the power of deciding which movies come out in what dates and they may have thought "look, we're rebuilding our cinematic universe, we need as much attention as we can get to our movies. And the batman's success can somehow make the care more about its sequel than for our upcoming DCU. Let's reschedule the batman 2,I'm sure Matt will understand". That's my humble theory of what really happened behind scenes. And I know there are new bosses in WB but it's not like the studio hadn't done something like this before.
I think they are giving room for the new DC to grease the wheels. It would be smart or dope to have a superman/dc film and Elseworld film each year. I think we may get Brave and The bold sooner than we think

There was never going to be two theatrical Batman within a 2-3 year window, especially in the midst of a new cinematic universe. The MCU could do no wrong, and even they never attempted an elseworlds live action Peter Parker Spiderman. WB wants to interject their cash cow Batman into the DCU ASAP and they’re not waiting until 2028 for Matt Reeves.
It sucks but if they need more time then give it to them so they can make the best movie they possibly can!

If I'm Matt Reeves, I've got a studio that doesn't know what the hell they are doing. They keep changing leadership. I'm sure James Gunn wants Reeves Batverse somehow in the DCU. He has told them previously he does want it connected to anything. I'm sure some people in the studio are coming at him with, well if you did this we could make a billion dollars. Never mind the fact that someone else could own WB going forward. Thrown in the strikes, like, how is he supposed to work in that environment. Idk it would not surprise me if it comes out that he walks away from the sequel.
Denis Villeneuve got Dune 2 made at WB during this same time period. Reeves hasn't even finished writing the script for number 2.

DC wants to see if the new Superman does good. And everything they will do next depends on Superman results. If they put movies out that are absolutely amazing that will take attention away from their new to be created universe
Remember that the first movie was announced back in 2017. Wasn't supposed to come out until 2021 and then covid moved it to 2022. I wouldn't worry about it not getting made, he just takes forever with his scripts.
