Not a med student either. I need this to understand how aspirin interacts with natural herbs. I need to get my dad off this drug. It's slowly kylling him.
@@Sachin1197 Thanks, but that's not exactly the right solution. My father has seen many doctors and they all advise the same thing - to stay on the pill. The issue is we aren't at that "progressed level yet" where this pill can be better studied to find solutions for safe interactions with natural remedies. Remember - bigpharma markets their drugs in ways where their products are untouchable and can't be "replaced". That's their end goal. They're not about saving lives, they never were. Wow this was an excellent presentation & in simple English! This makes science easier to understand! A very good visualisation of Aspirin going around the human & what Aspirin does, & so on & so forth!
why am i going to school? there should be a "youtube university" or some ish, because you can easily learn everything from k-12 on here and in my opinion way more effectively than some teachers in a classroom. here i can rewatch the lecture over and over. anyway this was highly educational and we need more!

The liver is a truly amazing organ in it's ability to modify and transform molecules in order to make attempt to reduce their foreign effects. It makes you think of how such an intricate and complex organic device can be created by nature, It's like a mini computerized chemical processor with sets of algorithms designed to deal with a host of many complex molecular compounds. Where did it learn these functions?
well explained I wish this was available when I was in school. definitely more interesting that listening to my teacher said read .at least I get to see how it works.Thank you
Top Notch!!! Explanation and animation are the best I've seen...I will be referencing your channel during nursing school...you can bet on that....thank for your hard work.
I agree. It is amazing to see how the human body works. You can't see all this creation around and not believe God the designer. Scientists have no excuse
dima9917 It doesn’t literally thin the blood. It stops an enzyme in the platelet cells and therefore they can’t bind together properly, this avoids in some significant manner the clogging of arteries.
Our body is so complex and amazing in its functional intelligence. It blows my mind to think this was a result from a mere fluke or a chance. The human body is just one of millions of example of complex design I must include and they all just came from a mere fluke. That's not easy to digest sorry.
--So aspirin get into cells passively, not actively. And crosses the blood brain barrier. -What fraction is defecated? -It would be nice to see a plot of concentration on blood vs time.
If aspirin blocks the production of prostaglandin, why doesn't it completely numb all pain? Is it only able to block some of the prosaglandin or are there other mechanisms responsible for pain at play?
You expect that answered on a You Tube Video comments section? :D ..Pain is very complex.. and there are many different painkillers available, depending on the type of pain..''nerve pain'' is the most difficult to treat, [sciatic nerve &c] and the most effective painkillers seem to be habituating.
Not Dave it inhibits ALL prostaglandine production, since it inhibits cox enzyme completely, not partially, thus none of the prostaglandine is made. :)
not quite. After getting into the systemic circulation the aspirin will inevitably reach the stomach (from the ouside). Here it will also inhibit prostaglandins but in the stomach prostaglandins are responsible for maintaining the lining of your stomach. So less prostaglandins means break down of stomach lining which is responsible for protecting your stomach against the acidity. This is why prolonged use of aspirin can cause stomach ulcers and bleeds.
Not quite. After the aspirin enters the systemic circulation it will inevitably reach the stomach (from the outside). Here it will also inhibit the production of prostaglandins. prostaglandins in the stomach are responsible for maintaining the stomach lining which is required for protection against the acid inside the stomach. Therefore less prostaglandins equals breakdown of stomach lining which allows the acid to damage the stomach wall causing stomach ulcers and bleeds

Billions of years? Havent modern humans been around for like 200,000 years with our ancestors 6 million years ago.

And all without harm to the stomach, fantastic!
