The point here that stands out is that Jason Ryan has been brought to this level by Scot Robertson, this is the message, a lead coach who grows, not erodes confidence. This isn't about personality, mistakes or trying harder it's about knowing how to coach. Ian Foster and those who promoted the old boys club assistant coach pathway appear not to recognise this.
Good shout. Jason being forwards coach for the mighty Canterbury Crusaders makes sense. He's has good pedigree, has earned his stripes properly, and being coach of the Saders is no mean feat. If a forwards coach isn't up to the mark there, he's 'gone on'. This is, as Cronny says, a natural step up, it also helps prep his experience levels with the All Blacks. Those credentials might serve everybody well, for post 2023 RWC and the in-coming new Head Coach, who-ever that person might ultimately be. I wish him all the bast.
Ireland played like the All Blacks used to. It was easy to see they had practiced more and were doing what they had practiced. The ABs looked like they were overwhelmed. Superfittness would hide their lack of skills. Get the ABs superfit so they can think clearly.
NZ rugby is an old boys club and the AB’s are the casualty. If a player does not preform he gets dropped, AB’s have NZ ‘s 3rd or 4th best coach and all he does is sack his own selections… hello?!
Think we do need a to do somethin different. If that means coach. Well yer. Its time to stop wondering why an move foward with something else. Really whats the worst lose. Fuk already doin that.
From sbok, you nz sound like us(sboks)1996 up to 2018 accept nick mallets era....always different opinions, about coaches and never get the right ones....goodluck we've been there and it sucks, specially if u know they go from bad to worce....u have one thing in advance that we got it is poletics lucky u dont have it...and happy ww kind of sort it out,bou entire sa is sinking so we dont know....greatings from (swa)namibia....🤗
I believe that John Plumtree, and, Brad Mooar were made out to be the scapegoats of the All Blacks Failures when the the two persons that should of been held accountable, Mark Robinson, And Ian Foster still draw a pay check funded by us the Supporter's of The All Blacks. John Plumtree demise is an interesting one, " Why was he given the role as the forward coach? " When in fact he was a back coach
Sorry bud, you don't actually fund the All Blacks, that would be the Sky Sport TV network. And the decisions around the coaching setup were made after the review, this entailed interviews with the players, clearly these interviews reflected well on Foster & not so well on Plumtree & Moar, hence the decision to retain Foster & move Plumtree & Moar on.
@@ngabushallday6642 Therefore my friend, with me being a Sky Sport, and a Sky TV Subscriber, doesn't that qualify me as funding Robinson And Fosters pay check. " Can I Please ask you a Question?" "Do you go and watch Northland play rugby, or watch rugby up north in general?" "Or have you been to watch the All Blacks play?" To watch these games you have to pay to get in. " Therefore where does that money go? " It goes to the New Zealand Rugby Union, that's how they pay their bills etc, etc, etc! So whether you are a Sky TV Subscriber or a rugby supporter you must be funding the NZRU!!!
Uh no, just because you by a ticket to a game or subscribe to sky sport, which incidentally covers way more than rugby, that doesn't make you the person "funding" the All Blacks. That just makes you someone who mistakenly thinks you have some sort of ownership over an entity that you want to trash every time that entity doesn't perform the way you want it to. You're just a pimple on the arse of true supporters like me, who laugh at idiots like you who think your ticket to a game once every 2 or 3 years makes you a shareholder & who has no understanding of how high performance, proffesional sports organisations work.
If anything I'd say Fijian forwards look better then they have in the past, more skillful and direct. Fiji always produce destructive wingers but watching Thier games the forwards have improved alot
"[Ian Foster] is one of the smartest coaches I've ever worked with as far as attack's concerned." Mike Cron's last statement hit me like a ton of bricks. It's really hard to square this comment with the lack of attack we've seen in the AB's recent test matches. Maybe it's all to do with the lack of a "forward platform", as they keep saying, but from my amateur eye, I've just struggled to see any sort of cohesive attack whatsoever. Hopefully his statement will make more sense after Saturday's first match against the Springboks. ???
While the AB forwards weren’t bulldozing their way through the Irish pack, the real undoing of our attack was outside of 9. Were still running attack maps from 2014, whereas the Irish have developed a succinct, accurate and ruthless system where they are asking countless questions of defenders and then picking the right option to find space. Everyone in NZ were ripping out the ABs, and yes of course out attack needs to improve but no one really gave much credit to the Irish attack, did they..

A new era demands new things
Excellent to hear Devlin's dulcet tones again.
So if Ian Foster is the smartest attack coach that Crons ever seen, why wasn’t he running it to start with?
Great to have you back on the airwaves Martin.

None of the old "buggas" did a good job. Lets get serious.
plums and brad have done a terrible job,as has ian who should have been sacked

Aye, they sure did m'Lord. I agree with you on all counts.

3rd or 4th eh? Me thinks you rate him too highly.
Ryan is a good appointment. Now to get rid of others!
they'll go post 23 RWC.

Mike can you go and be Fiji’s scrum coach
He didn't help the immensely talented Fijian side beat Samoa did he? Next stop gap shit master to teach forward pack nothing.

Onya Marty
Fantastic interview with couple of Boomers.
