    The dude basically survived on two pizzas, five beers and six PACKETS of cigarettes for a whole week. God Bless America

    This example is contrived, of course, to work out perfectly -- but the principle is the same. Spend your money down as far as you can, making sure at each step that you get the most "bang for your buck."

    These are very good. I use these for my students as supplemental study material. They love them.

    Who and How is measured the Units of Utility (/satisfaction)?
    Seems like we're just putting the problem inside a different bag..

    • @Irefuse960
      @Irefuse960 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually no one can ever measure utility and that is why this cardinal approach of studying consumer's equilibrium proposed by Marshall failed.

    How were the MUs calculated? Will they always be provided?

    • @anyweighs
      @anyweighs ปีที่แล้ว +1

      MU = change in total utility divided by change in units consumed

  • @Sourcelighteer
    @Sourcelighteer 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's an economic theory. Unless you put some kind of unit onto it you wouldn't been able to measure & compare options

    You shouldn't just choose based on satisfaction. Sure cigarettes might give you more satisfaction at first but then you get sick from then.

    "Pizza, beer, and cigarettes" lol

  • @jessica386m
    @jessica386m 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why after the third pack of cigarettes does he choose beer when the satisfaction is still higher for cigarettes on the 4th unit still? the satisfaction is 8.25 and the others are lower.

  • @jinusanghavi

    Is that the law of equi marginal utility?

  • @Lucky10279
    @Lucky10279 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Isn't it kind of silly to measure satisfaction in numbers? I mean it's not a physical object. It doesn't make sense to measure it in numbers.

    • @anyweighs
      @anyweighs ปีที่แล้ว

      it’s theoretical

  • @adijo123
    @adijo123 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why is it "per dollar"??

    • @anyweighs
      @anyweighs ปีที่แล้ว

      because that’s the most used unit of measurement, it can be per cent per penny etc
