We go to it and I walk the GTO until it is out of sight in my rear view mirror. Based on the tachometer and gear ratios I was something north of 120 mph! They caught up with me sometime later and they just waved. Fun time!!

The car chase in Bullitt is the best there ever was, or ever will be. Classic American muscle: Dodge Charger and Ford Mustang....Steve McQueen did some of the driving in the Mustang, and Bill Hickman, the greatest stunt driver in movie history drove the Charger (he also did great stunt driving in the 2 other classic car chases: The French Connection and The Seven Ups) No place better than San Francisco for a car chase with those hills and along the ocean...and last, but not least - the fastest car in movie history....that green VW Bug, the Charger and Mustang had to pass it 4 times !!!
The original gone in 60 seconds was better for a few reasons. One car was used throughout movie and still ran afterwards. The movie was made with a far less budget. The next movie would be Dirty Larry and crazy Mary.
Depending on how you define a muscle car the the chase to and in Nice is one of the best filmed car chases ever with a 1976 6.9 Mercedes 450 SEL could count.

True the Charger would leave the 'Stang eating it's dust. They had to keep reigning the Charger in because it consistently pulled away from the GT390, hence why it had such skinny tyres

Funny thing is that car in the movie was used in every stunt and still drove after the movie was finished. None of the other movies can say that.
