ScaleCarModels, a few years back, he explained why the Monogram Ford F100 had a strange suspension and wheels. In the 1970s on 1 to 1 street rods, they got rid of the 1950s truck stock hard riding and hard to steer suspension and replaced it with a cheap and easy to install, also disc brake compatible, Plymouth Volare suspension. Then they dropped the bias ply old truck tires and put low profile better handling and ride tires on it. The 15 inch wheels were big back in the day. They hadn't come out with the 16 -22 sizes untill 20 plus years later. The suspension also lowered the ride of the trucks without extensive work.
