I heartily agree that Sowell deserves a Nobel Prize for Knowledge and Decisions. "The most important decision is not WHAT is to be decided but WHO is to decide." Cheers, Russ

Abubakar Mansaray it's a damn shame. His humility and economic insight is unmatched. Even Steve Forbes claimed it was a damn shame that he, unlike the other Hoover institute and Chicago economic thinkers, is the one without a nobel prize. I presume that it is because he challenges the intelligentsia so much.
Zayan Watchel I never stated that we shouldn't have civil rights nor did I denounce the extreme value of Dr King, I simply believe that the economic insight of Thomas Sowell and his individualistic perspective on human life is more valuable. Any individualist with common sense understood the necessity for the civil rights act, but going even further and aiding minorities (specifically African Americans) with the economic insights of one such as Thomas Sowell, and also Walter E. Williams, allows minorities to not only have the liberty they deserve but also the opportunities and capabilities of being able to thrive. Of course liberty is necessary, but having liberty and success is even better, and that's what I believe Thomas Sowell's ideas offer.
Michael Dahl Is it that hard to see someone saying "fuck civil rights" and not hear the sarcasm? It wasn't targeted at you, it was more of a jest. And Luther King isn't all he's cracked up to be.
Zayan Watchel You would be surprised how many highly offended people on the internet would actually believe I meant "fuck civil rights" if I stated that any African American could be more beneficial to the success of blacks in America than MLK.
On your recommendation, so far I have read Basic Economics, Discrimination and Disparities, The Vision of the Annointed and Intellectuals and Society... and based on these, I'm going to read the rest of his work the next few years. Sowell has opened up a whole new dimension of my understanding of the world. Thank you for introducing me to Sowell, and for your other videos!
Thank you very much for this. Saw a pic of someone with what I assumed was ALL of Sowell's books and got interested to start reading his writings but obviously didn't have a clue where to begin. This is exactly the breakdown I was looking for:)
I strike out nothing, for whatever an author writes is an education. Thank you Dr. Sowell and all intelligent authors trying to wake up and educate the masses. Readers are leaders.
It’s sad, I’ve seen a few people(not many, but not many to dispute them either.) who think Sowell is just used by the right to say “see there’s a black guy who likes our views.” When really he’s a recommendable intellectual in his own right regardless of race or tokenism.
Great survey of Sowell’s body of work. I would put in a good word for his book on Marxism. Aside from the biographical sketch and the final chapter, where Sowell provides a critical assessment of the validity-or lack thereof in most instances-of Marx’s theories, most of the book consists of an admirably objective exposition of what Marx and Engels really espoused, concentrating solely on primary sources rather than the interpretations of later Marxists.
I would unironically join a Sowell book club if they had one near me. Would be great to get a few commies in there too for a bit of added entertainment value... can you imagine the saltiness? Would be amazing.
Thank you for doing this video. I have always been fascinated with Sowell ever since I got into Milton Friedman and his Free to Choose video series here on TH-cam. On a side note, what (if you have read him) is your favorite Friedman book?
I enjoy your videos. I've arrived at a similar place philosophically from a slightly different path. It's encouraging to see others coming to similar conclusions in a time when my perspective on the world is not, let's say, fashionable. I was going to follow you on Twitter, but you seem to have been shut down. Is there another platform, besides TH-cam, that you currently reside on?
Knowlegde and Decisions is the deepest economics book I have ever read. I think I have read the first half, the theoretical part, twice but wasn't able to grasp a lot of it despite my having a BA in economics. I'm going to have to re read it another 2 or 3 times I think at some point.
“RACIST!”....isn’t that all you need to know for a deep analysis on the American Left? “Uncle Tom!”....isn’t that all you need to know for a deep analysis on the American Black Left? Essay Notes for the Far-Left Marxist student 🙃
'if you are here you know who Sowell is already...' LOL you only mention him 30 times per video/stream I don't thik it is possible to listen to you once and walk away not knowing who Sowell is. I bet you'd marry him if you could...
What other writers do you have that you consumed thier oeuvre so extensively? I'm ashamed to say I haven't done it yet(atleast not with writers with SO much material)
I thought it was a pretty weak book compare to his other works (Although I will use it to debunks some myths surround the Housing Bubble) and I find the Austrian explanation to be more superior and thorough
His latest book is fantastic at exposing the fallacies of all sides when it comes to disparity between groups. Even some of my libtard friends thought it made good points.
“It is usually futile to try to talk facts and analysis to people who are enjoying a sense of moral superiority in their ignorance.”
indeed
This is so crazy true today.
studies have been done on what you say. Propaganda works.
I heartily agree that Sowell deserves a Nobel Prize for Knowledge and Decisions. "The most important decision is not WHAT is to be decided but WHO is to decide." Cheers, Russ
When I turned 18 a distant uncle sent me The Thomas Sowell Reader. I've never even met him but I'm damn thankful he turned me on to Sowell.
Would be cool if you met him and described your sowell journey to him

Thomas Sowell is a legend and a very underrated intellectual.
Unpopular opinion: Thomas Sowell is more valuable to black America than MLK jr.

Fuck civil rights, we have Thomas Sowell!

i purchased basic economics few days ago :)
AjitB07 are you liking?
marquinhomk000 so far so good, however I am only 50 or so pages in.
Me too

Thank you for taking the time to make this video. It's much appreciated as it's very helpful to me as a guide to where I might start with Sowell.
Thank you very much for this. Saw a pic of someone with what I assumed was ALL of Sowell's books and got interested to start reading his writings but obviously didn't have a clue where to begin. This is exactly the breakdown I was looking for:)
it is so sad that this man gets dismissed as an uncle Tom so frequently
Only those who need Victimhood to justify their doing nothing constructive. Not one has any facts with which to refute TS.
I wish people have read the book Uncle Tom … if they did they would have learned that they’re paying him compliment

Very true
Wealth, Poverty and Politics was the first Sowell book I read and I was completely sold on him after reading that. I think it one of his best.
The Chartist I did mention it
The Academic Agent Yes, I see that now.
I strike out nothing, for whatever an author writes is an education. Thank you Dr. Sowell and all intelligent authors trying to wake up and educate the masses. Readers are leaders.

This
What’s the name of the book?
Edgy Memes Marxism: Philosophy and Economics
In my eyes,Thomas Sowell would be be a perfect canditate for a Nobel Laureate Price Winner. We should share this, and make him one. He owns it.
The Nobel Association's only care about Leftist Views.
@@kaypee4704 Agree, but that is really sad.
@@kaypee4704 yeah, just take a look at Amartya Sen. Crappy Nobel prize winning economist of India.
Then you got Paul Krugman in USA.
Just rename your channel to "Thomas Sowell Book Club"
I would unironically join a Sowell book club if they had one near me. Would be great to get a few commies in there too for a bit of added entertainment value... can you imagine the saltiness? Would be amazing.
Thanks AA, very informative. Do Sowell's books on culture contradict one of your other recommended books, Pinker's The Blank Slate?
Currently about to set out on the trilogy on cultures. Thank you so much for the video.
Thank you for doing this video. I have always been fascinated with Sowell ever since I got into Milton Friedman and his Free to Choose video series here on TH-cam.
On a side note, what (if you have read him) is your favorite Friedman book?
I forgot to add that this video will help me tremendously with getting into Sowell, so thanks for your hard work on this.
'Basic Economics' (2nd ed.), and 'Personal Odyssey' are good. 'Knowledge and Decisions' was his intellectual breakout.
I enjoy your videos. I've arrived at a similar place philosophically from a slightly different path. It's encouraging to see others coming to similar conclusions in a time when my perspective on the world is not, let's say, fashionable.

THE ETERNAL SOWELL
Knowlegde and Decisions is the deepest economics book I have ever read. I think I have read the first half, the theoretical part, twice but wasn't able to grasp a lot of it despite my having a BA in economics. I'm going to have to re read it another 2 or 3 times I think at some point.
Need a SowellWAVE from Akira the Don.
Which book on the 2008 bust is better? Thomas Sowell's or Tom Woods'? They're both on my list but I haven't got to them yet.
Chapter 9 of "Marxism" was the like the refreshing breeze at the end of a long hard run. Boy that book was hard to go through, but it was worth it.
Crazy to hear The Glitch Mob playing behind the end!
Basic Economics pretty much covers everything
Surely it only covers the basics.
“RACIST!”....isn’t that all you need to know for a deep analysis on the American Left?
“Uncle Tom!”....isn’t that all you need to know for a deep analysis on the American Black Left?

Much appreciated!
Thanks very much. That was super helpful.
Ack! This video reminded me to finish reading _A Vision of the Anointed,_ but I can't find it anywhere!
What happened to your livestream about him?
Thank you for this!
What's the song around minutes 9-10?
Thank you so much
whoa, a lot of catch-ups to do.
'if you are here you know who Sowell is already...' LOL you only mention him 30 times per video/stream I don't thik it is possible to listen to you once and walk away not knowing who Sowell is. I bet you'd marry him if you could...
I know I would
nayyr1 I bet you'd marry him if you could
-you say that like it's a bad thing
For a woman in her 60's - its a great idea! For man in his 30s (like AA) probably not so much :)
THANKS, MAN
Good video!
You're missing his book Black Education: Myths and Tragedies.
Another helpful video
9:03 Make this right!! Yay!!
Thanks
I can't get passed sowells opinion on the Iran deal. Fucks sake it's a good deal
I got Knowledge & Decisions the other day
Hotline Miami fan detected! Is good game.
What other writers do you have that you consumed thier oeuvre so extensively? I'm ashamed to say I haven't done it yet(atleast not with writers with SO much material)
I wouldn't recommend Housing Boom and Bust
Frédéric Voltaire Bastiat why?
I thought it was a pretty weak book compare to his other works (Although I will use it to debunks some myths surround the Housing Bubble) and I find the Austrian explanation to be more superior and thorough
Yeah I started with the Marxism one lmfao. Managed to get a copy from my uni library.
Super
sorry but the dismantling of America is my favorite
What? No Rei here to reeeeeeeeeeee?
His latest book is fantastic at exposing the fallacies of all sides when it comes to disparity between groups. Even some of my libtard friends thought it made good points.
It's Sowell as in "Soul" brother, not as in "Towel." Why am I not surprised?!
This video is attended to serve as a guide for mystery meat that lust after BBC.
