So sad you received such negative comments. I too hadn’t heard of them for a long time. Not until I had music history at music school. But, anyway great to get my request fulfilled, I had a feeling you’d dig it 😄 They have plenty more awesome songs!
I saw Steely Dan a few years ago, before Walter Becker passed away. They did the song "Aja", pronounced "Asia", people who don't know the band have mispronounced it. Anyway, the live version, when they went to the instrumental section, became an outer body experience! Amazing! Nick, don't "not listen " to this band, it'll be a big mistake! And screw the negative comments. I know when someone is not fr from the US and visa versa, what's believed to be common knowledge, is taken for granted. Thats why travel and meeting people from different backgrounds is so important.
Your cheating yourselves by not listening to more Steely Dan. You two love music way too much to miss out on this great band. Can't Buy A Thrill is my favorite album but you really can't go wrong with any of their works. I just wanted to thank you both for putting out so much great content. Your fans really appreciate your hard work.
"Can't buy a Thrill" is indeed a great album - It's also a compilation of their hits, so I'm not surprised, but it isn't one of their studio albums. It is a good album however to get to know the group gradually before getting into the rest.
@@mikewritz - I stand corrected - As it took till I was 40 before I even began getting their albums I got this one very late after Aja [ my 1st ] + a number of others - Playing it seemed obvious this is a hits album. I've always thought that with so many great tracks & the track Ricky don't loose that number, being their 1st hit convinced me even more as I had a number of their singles on this album ....but yes - It was their debut. The Caves of Altamira - is a song about "cavemen" who created art on the walls of caves in France, 40,000 years ago. They used the lines in the rock as the basis of muscles in animals - like bison. The point of the song - is that - even 40,000 years ago early man had an artistic desire within them to create images and showcase them. Before there was any Hollywood.
The album Aja was so well produced that stereo shops used to demonstrate their speakers using the album. For a couple of guitar solos sited for their taste, see session guitarist Larry Carlton's solos on "Kid Charlemagne" from the Royal Scam album. Rick Beato does a lesson on it. For a short (20 min.) primer on the band, see the TH-cam video "Steely Dan : More than just a band". This goes into the transition from being a touring band to the main writing pair with their pick of studio musicians. For an even better documentary see the Classic Albums treatment of Aja, which has the leaders using the multi track tapes to go over some of the songs, plus some band history. It also has interviews with some of the studio musicians about the recording methods of Becker and Fagen, the two remaining members. I guess the band appealed more to the college crowd than the hard rock fans.
I am honestly surprised that neither of you had heard of Steely Dan or even know anyone who was into them. But you did not deserve the attacks you got. If you give them a chance you will find that they never did a bad song and are great musically with deep meaningful lyrics. They are also in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Enjoy!!
Settle down, Beavis. There's a huge difference in someone not being aware of something being other than they think or claim at some time and them intentionally making false statements. Lighten up, Francis.
Don't let "other people" determine who you listen to. And if you don't have much, or any, experience with them then you have a dozen wonderful albums to experience together for the first time. Don't deny yourselves of all that joy. Steely Dan is like no other. Edit: Steely Dan doesn't really have deep cuts. It's all good!
Another big thumbs up for Steely Dan. I saw the album cover and was hoping for the title track, but in no way am I disappointed with "Caves of Altamira." Big fan of Steely Dan and can't wait for more. Don't listen to the haters, just because you don't fit into what they think you should be.
regarding the commenter(s) that claim you couldn't possibly not know Steely Dan... as a 60 year old American, i'm surprised when anyone in your apparent age range knows any of the music i know.
"Kid Charlemagne" should be your next Steely Dan track, also from the same album "The Royal Scam." It has an amazing guitar solo played by Larry Carlton, voted by many as one of the greatest Ever. The attention to detail by perfectionists Donald Fagan & Walter Becker is just one of many reasons that set them apart from most other groups. 😃🏴👍
I'm kinda surprised that Green Earrings has been a big request because it is definitely a deep cut. It's off of the same album as The Caves of Altamira and Kid Charlemagne and has an incredible groove.
The song Aja (pronounced Asia) from Steely Dan is stunning. Especially for the drumming. Oh, and keep doing what you’re doing. Ignore the haters. I love your reactions
You have many more songs to go. They are among the very best musical duo ever! Here are the great tunes you would be missing if you do not listen to them. You guys have no idea how good they are and so much worth reacting to. My Old School. Black Friday, Kid Charlemagne, Aja, And Deacon Blues. Please listen and love it!
A great song!! the drums, the brass and sax solos are amazing,a complex song with lots of heart and soul,Don sings this to perfection, there are caves in Altimira,Spain with centuries old paintings on the the walls, this song goes back to the 1970s and hasn't dated.
Haters hate and why would you give any credence to them? Let them be and focus on the love of music...I promise you will fall in love with everything they put out....They are genus's and the rabbit hole is so deep and delicious...Kid Charlemagne, Any Major dude, Sign in Stranger, Bad Sneakers, Dr Wu, Aja the album...Who am I kidding....Every song on every album...
Donald Fagen and Walter Becker hired a bunch of top notch studio musicians to complete their albums. Their perfection in song creation and studio engineering was second to none. Keep reacting to SD. Please.
Glad you finally get to hear Steely Dan, keep listening they are an incredible studio band, they hated going on tour, love the music that’s all that matters, love you guys, new subscriber.
Guys please don’t let yourself be intimidated by ignorant and misinformed people and and allow them to stop you from reacting to what could be (and in my mind) the greatest band ever, both musically and lyrically.
Totally agree. There will always be the haters and ignorant people. It’s more important for them to have a reason to hate than it is for them to appreciate what you are doing and the truth. As best as possible, just ignore the haters.
Steely Dan started out in 1972 as a band with a core lineup of 5 members (6 if you include the short-lived frontman, David Palmer). They stopped touring in 1974. The majority of the band members left that year but the 2 core members Donald Fagen and Walter Becker turned Steely Dan into a studio project using only session musicians on future albums Katy Lied (1975), The Royal Scam (1976), Aja (1977), and Gaucho (1980).
You guys are gonna absolutely love where this takes you. Eventually you'll figure out the thread running through most all of their work- the ongoing saga of the gentleman loser, stumbling through life with all faults on display for the world to see... You'll find a bunch of songs you've heard and suddenly realize where they came from, too. There was a bunch of Steely Dan used in movies over the years...
I'm not gonna go through the whole comment section, but I'm willing to bet that you're seeing the same list: Hey Nineteen Do It Again Black Friday Bodhisattva Dirty Work Peg Reelin In The Years Again, I absolve myself of any shit for not reading the ENTIRE comment section, but I know this music pretty well and it'd be fun to help walk you through some of it. I feel lucky to know this- I always took it for granted as they're local to me and I never considered that they had managed to stay low key for this long...
Ignore the critics. Music is a huge ocean - there is always another shore or anchorage to discover and explore. No one can ever encompass it all! I salute you for taking the journey - many just swim in the lagoon they are familiar with.
You guys are so cute... I’m 67 and have been a Steely Dan lover since the beginning ( saw them twice in concert). The early stuff ( my old school, Reeling in the years, Ricky don’t lose that number ... on and on.. don’t stop listening to them. Their background vocalist was Michael McDonald ( was lead singer for Doobie Brothers).. Nick will especially appreciate the guitar in the 3 songs I mentioned above. God bless!
I could be stuck on a desert with only Steely Dan to listen to and be content. Love the Dan, listen to all their albums, including solo works, you won't regret it! Saw them live a couple of times in the 90's and they did not disappoint.
So glad you reacted to The Caves of Altamira!!! They are considered the musician's musicians because of their complex chord progressions and arrangements!! They used many of the top studio musicians on their recordings!! Many people react to so many of their hits, but not enough people react to this!!!
Grew up in the 70’s and Steely Dan was one of my fav bands! They are in a league of their own in my opinion. Must react to Black Cow or Don’t Take Me Alive......RIP Walter Becker
I am so sorry that you got negative, very negative feedback from naysayers. I would think, like me, they'd be excited to see a reaction from people who haven't heard Steely Dan before. But I am very glad you continued with them. You two are just beautiful folk. Headed over to your U.K. reaction now because it just popped up on my notifications. Excited. Love and best wishes for positivity to embrace your channel. ❤
Steely Dan is a "one of." It creates it's own genre. Not rock, not jazz , something beautifully different. Two accomplished musicians who hired other studio musicians to play some parts of their songs (after their early years. ) Check out 'Babylon Sisters 'from their Gaucho Album. My favorite group of all time. They have at least 30 songs to die for. A LOT to explore here. - Dave, Vancouver, WA.
Still gonna push Green Earrings for pure fun. This whole album is good and then go back to Aja and then Babylon Sisters from Gaucho. That's a good start. 😁
My Brother brought home the very first Steely Dan album, “Can’t Buy a Thrill” in 1972. He was learning to play guitar. We both had heard one song, on the radio, but we listened to the whole album and fell in love. Right away. Then bought every album that came afterward. We are in Texas. Some of our friends would hear us listening to random deep cuts and say, “ Who is this?” Steely Dan! They said, “You mean Hey 19 band? They never knew how great the whole catalog of Steely Dan was, and we were in USA! So sorry about all the A-Holes out there that put a bad taste, in your mouth. You will fall in love with this band. Keep playing the deep cuts and never look back. ❤️
Cheers from a fellow Texan. Let's hope they spin some more Steely Dan as soon as possible. Would hate to wait several months before they get back to them. Peace.
I like how Steely Dan’s music uses less reverb. It gives their music a clean sound where you can hear every instrument more clearly than many other bands. Back in the day, audiophiles used to take Steely Dan records into electronic stores to test the speakers. There’s a lot of ear candy to be heard in their music especially if you have a good sound system or headphones.
There's also not a lot of bus compression to mash everything together. Some of the instruments are very much in background but are still crisp in the mix.
Excellent request and great reaction. For fans of Steely Dan, we appreciate that you’re willing to “suffer the slings and arrows” to review their songs. So sorry about negative comments 😔. Donald Fagen & Walter Becker (RIP) were Steely Dan and they prized production values to the point where they would have several musicians march through to try to add that certain riff or sound, sometimes just a few bars. Days when production could be expensive. I always thought they had a foot in Jazz and another in Pop Rock (with a healthy dose of R&B Funk). Donald Fagen talks about frequenting Jazz clubs in NYC when he was young (60’s) so that’s his heart. Then, reviewers started calling it “yacht rock.” But it’s radio-friendly yet smart musically. And there’s that unmistakable production! I like their sound, his voice, their lyrics ... & have them in rotation in my playlist. So thanks! 🤪 BTW, the caves of Altamira in Spain have incredible early cave art. 🦬
Michelle, why do you call it a great reaction after the reviewer compared Steely Dan to Chicago simply because they both have "horn sections'," then complained that the track wasn't longer after delivering screed about the Steely Dan fan base having the audacity to question his musical bona fides? I don't know about you but I always think Chicago and Al Stewart when I'm listening to "Parker's Band" or "Don't Take me Alive."
@@sooutrageous007 Hi Steven. I appreciate your opinion. I love watching Nick & Lex react to all kinds of music. Even Rolling Stone professional music reviews make comparisons that someone else might disagree with. I can understand how they’re making comparisons with the music they know. That’s what you do with unfamiliar artists - try to fit them in wherever. I certainly wouldn’t want this nice couple to stop playing Steely Dan. And really, they are like no other band, right?! So, it’s hard to draw comparisons. Anyway, thanks for reaching out to me. I suppose you are a Steely Dan fan like I am. They are in my regular playlist rotation. I’ve even watched the Dukes of September concerts with Donald Fagen, Boz Scaggs, Michael McDonald, etc. Check them out if you haven’t. But please, for me, let’s encourage these nice people to cover the music we love. Anyone could find fault with any of my recommendations or comments, I’m sure. I hope you continue to be a big part of this channel. There will never be another Steely Dan and we’ve already lost Walter (RIP). They manage to walk an indescribable genre-line between jazz, blues, rock, funk. Much love in music, m 🤪
I follow your contributions on Just Jammin's channel. You don't miss, Michelle! Our musical tastes are amazingly simpatico: Steely Dan, Everything but the Girl, Incognito The Brand New Heavies, to name a few. Kudos to you.
@@sooutrageous007 Hey Steven, Thanks so much for the kind words. And I love that word, “simpatico!” It really doesn’t have a great translation in English, maybe “on the same wavelength” in this case. And yes, absolutely simpatico! I loved Everything but the Girl since the first time I heard their sound and her voice on “Single.” And I own probably everything by Steely Dan - love ‘em. The Brand New Heavies are great. Someone just requested them yesterday for JJ (“Spend Some Time”). I dedicated it to you. Lol. And I like Incognito also. Have you heard their cover of Boz Scagg’s “Lowdown” with Chaka Khan? m.th-cam.com/video/0mcV5JWrO5Q/w-d-xo.html Ok. Give me more. And let’s think of good ones for Nick & Lex!! Thanks. 🤪
Thank you for choosing a rarely heard song. (Very interesting your history!! We had great FM radio in the 70s and you heard EVERYTHING!). (This whole album is GREAT and great session players too!)
Steely Dan’s regard for production values was so strong in the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s that many bands would play SD music through the auditorium, arena or stadium pre-show as folks are finding their seats.
It's not sad that you were never exposed..... it's awesome! I'd love to hear their catalogue for the first time again! Forget the haters! Keep doing this band - they are AMAZING!
Please don't be put off by any negative comments, I'm sure they are in the minority. And please don't let it put you off exploring Steely Dan guys. Just listed to AJA, in its entirety, and I'm sure you'll both be hooked... Now obviously bands don't always become household names globally, so its not surprising that some are overlooked. That in part, is what a channel such as yours is fixing, by giving bands a 'new' musical exposure to us all. Keep it up you two... Cheers Bob.
Please don't let negative comments put you off from discovering new music! The more you discover the more you'll like - it's that word we've heard too much of in Covid times, (unfortunately), exponential. I'm in my 60s and now enjoy a whole wealth of different genres and styles of music and listening to whatever suits my mood is one of life's greatest pleasures. Much more for you to discover of Steely Dan - enjoy!
So glad you did not let the idiots prevent you from the pleasures of Steely Dan! Production values off the chart, great lyrics, incredible fusion of styles.
Nick & Lex, no need to respond to people's criticism. It is just great your channel has such a diversity of music that you bring to people who want to listen to your generation's take on it. I am fortunate to have seen Steely Dan in concert and have listened to them since they started out. They were a combination of jazz-influenced blues and rock band, for want of a better description, but they weren't mainstream. They didn't set out to make hit records and Donald Fagen & Walter Becker only wanted to create the purest of sounds and complex melodies. This they achieved in many of their albums and only now can you appreciate their contribution to music. So, continue your exploration of Steely Dan. NB. And, for you Nick, I have been an Allan Holdsworth fan for a long time and have his last recordings with Virgil Donati "Tales from the Vault". And, if you haven't already done so, join the unReal Allan Holdsworth Facebook group to get really connected with many musicians who played or who appreciate his music.
An overlooked aspect of Steely Dan is the lyrics. The lyrics are just as complex as the instrumentation. They're very profound and contain deep occult and historical content. They know secrets about our world that only a few are aware of. This particular song refers to ancient cave paintings which were designed to serve as moving pictures. They would paint a few different positions of an animal, for example, and as the fire would flicker, the lighting would accentuate the different angles and positions of the paintings, thus giving a similar effect to flipping cartoon pages, one frame at a time. Hence, "before the fall, when they wrote it on the wall, when there wasn't even any hollywood"... motion pictures.... Steely Dan knew about this long before it became something noteworthy in the anthropological society. The Royal Scam is full of hints about how our world really works, and the obsure subject matter often repels the logical mind, but it's valuable information if you know how to decipher the brilliant lyrics of Fagen and Becker.
Don't let negative comments bring you down... and especially, don't let bitter people refrain you from enjoying the great music of Steely Dan! As a Mexican around your age, I can back up what you say; SD doesn't get played in the radio here; at least not in the 90s and 00s in Classic Rock stations. In fact, I only gave them a try just 10 years ago with two albums (Aja and The Royal Scam) which I love and it was until last year with the quarantine that I started looking to the rest of their discography and right now they are my second favorite band all-time!! And you may have probably heard a couple of SD songs, just without knowing it was them (proably Do It Again and Rikki Don't Lose That Number). Anyway, long message short, don't give up on Steely Dan, on or off-camera. Of course, there will be many people glad if you share your first reactions with us. =)
The caves are a great subject for a song. After another reaction channel played this I got into researching a bit, though I knew a little already. The hand prints are about 36,000 years old ! I now use screenshots of them for my phone wallpaper and just love them.
I refuse to believe that you, a couple born after my 40th birthday, do not have experiences that exactly match mine. But that doesn’t make sense, does it? As always, I await your reaction to Zappa’s Little House I Used To Live In from Burnt Weeny Sandwich.
It's a rabbit hole that everyone should go down. Donald Fegan and Walter Becker were two of the best songwriters of the 70,s. Used THE best studio musicians as backup. From 1972 to 1980 they put out 7 albums. All terrific. Forget social media trolls.
What brings a smile to my face when watching reaction videos, is the honesty upon the faces of the young people. The ‘truth of the amazing music blowing your minds’ is wonderful to witness. NEXT from Steely Dan: Reeling in the Years! Pleeeease Then Deacon Blues!
The entire Royal Scam album is tremendous. Katy Lied, Aja, Gaucho All great. Two Against Nature and Everything Must go in their second life are very good. Donald Fagen and Walter Becker allegedly thought about brining Holdsworth into the studio, but it never happened. That's John Klemmer on sax here. They used a ton of jazz musicians.
I have heard it said years ago Steely Dan is the band other musicians listen to at home There is no other like them you will see i hope. Enjoy . Try Aja
That was so much fun watching you guys get into that. You’ve only scratched the surface. They were two musical greats that hated touring, therefore very little of it. They were studio geniuses that the best of the studio musicians at the time were honored to participate in their projects. Steve Gadd, Larry Carlton, Lee Ritenour, Elliot Randall, Charles Rainey, Victor Feldman, Dean Parks, Denny Diaz, Jay Graydon, Bernard Purdy and on and on. Sorry for the ramble. Have fun both listening and reading about the painstaking production practices that were rare in rock and pop music.
You guys should consider yourselves so lucky that you are just now beginning the journey of the band Steely Dan. Many great tunes you will be discovering and loving.
I am from Germany and became a huge Steely Dan fan when I stumbled upon them by accident in the late 2000s. Literally nobody of my friends, relatives etc. knew about this band but we all became addicted. We even had a Steely Dan cover band in school, listened to nothing else for a few years. In Germany they never got released so in the pre-internet era there was virtually no way to getting to know them.
Hey guys! Man so cool you decided to do this song! It's really one of SD's hidden gems! The horns and especially the sax make this such an awesome tune. By all means don't worry about the negative comments just keep plowing through because most of us really enjoy seeing you react to Steely Dan! Hopefully you'll decide to react to their other great songs! Home At Last is another great one that's lesser known. Great Job!
Everything Steely Dan ever played is a hit, and worth listening to. You know this now. When you hear something like the music of Steely Dan, it changes you forever. If it doesn’t, you didn’t hear them. Steely Dan is just a great, great band of musical geniuses at work and play!!!
"Caves" is actually one of the earliest tunes Becker and Fagen wrote, just took until their 5th album before they came up with a finished product that met their exacting standards and thus found it's way to an album.
One of my favorite Dan songs of all time. The way I like to describe Steely Dan, is that they took the best of blues, jazz, rock and pop, and smashed it all together to make a wonderfully unpredictable, super chill, precisely tuned music experience. So unique, and so chill. Not everyone likes Fagen's vocals, and that probably is the line that separates the super fans from the non-fans. I love Fagen's vocals as a mainline "instrument" in the band's composition.
The beauty of the internet is that it makes it easier to discover new music. And you two have so much fun doing it because you're so genuine! Sadly, the internet is also full of people who enjoy spreading negativity. Unfortunately, there are trolls everywhere.
Gotta keep listening to Steely Dan. They are my favorite band, distant second is Pink Floyd. Everybody has their favorite tracks and it’s never the same for any two fans, that’s how unique they are and they really don’t make a bad song. That being said, my steely playlist has roughly 50 songs I play before Caves Of Altimara so keep diving in.
Sorry about the haters guys .. Nick you're a musician .. I'm a musician ... if you never do another reaction to Steely Dan please just get yourself a copy of Aja and enjoy the brilliance ... love the reactions guys, just keep doing what you do :)
When you realize most of the "fans' here are from the seventies when we were early twenties, that was 50 years ago! I am a grandpa, and maybe soon great grandpa....but man we had some fine music in our day. Watching someone "get it" and get caught up in the Steely Dan music is entertaining. I took records, tapes, and 8 tracks of Steely Dan everywhere. I also lugged around many John Prine tunes, the same kind of music writing, from the heart and mind, but a different genre. Steely Dan is hard to fairly compare with any other band because they have such a unique sound and style. Plus, Donald Fagen is "the" voice of Steely Dan. When he took over vocals, he was unmatched in the delivery of the song and became as embedded as the riffs a of Larry Carlton and the other masters of the craft that worked with them. Very happy to see this reaction, looking forward to more.
Start with their early hits: Do It Again, Reelin' In The Years, Rikki Don't Lose That Number. They were the first things we heard in the 70s, and you can get to know them the way most people did. But every song is good.
Don’t feel like you have to apologize for not knowing Steely Dan. They didn’t like touring. And they were very fluid from beginning to end. They started very rock like and got jazzier later on. Not all fans were happy on that ride. Same thing happened to the Doobie Brothers (you know them right?). I loved it all. They “matured” along with us.
Thanks for not giving up on the Dan.They will become one of your favourite groups as you delve deeper into their catalog.Kid Charlemange,Green earrings ,Don't take me alive and the entire Aja album would be a good place to start.🎶🌴

Please listen to more of this band! Don't worry about what people say. IF YOU LIKE THEM,THAT"S ALL THAT MATTERS!!!!
Steely Dan rabbit hole please proceed👏🏽🙏🏽✌🏽❤️🌎
I'm kinda surprised that Green Earrings has been a big request because it is definitely a deep cut. It's off of the same album as The Caves of Altamira and Kid Charlemagne and has an incredible groove.
One of my faves by them. Second this comment.
If the last 45 seconds of this song lasted 20 minutes, I would listen to every second. Groove, defined.
The song Aja (pronounced Asia) from Steely Dan is stunning. Especially for the drumming. Oh, and keep doing what you’re doing. Ignore the haters. I love your reactions
Steve Gadd's drumming is stellar...
It's been said - it's the best recorded drumming ever. Think about that for a second. If it's true - it might be listen worthy.
Agreed on all counts
You have many more songs to go. They are among the very best musical duo ever! Here are the great tunes you would be missing if you do not listen to them. You guys have no idea how good they are and so much worth reacting to. My Old School. Black Friday, Kid Charlemagne, Aja, And Deacon Blues. Please listen and love it!
As a guitar player do yourself a favour and listen to Kid Charlemagne. You’re in for a treat.
I’ve been a fan of Steely Dan since the 1970’s and have heard Kid Charlemagne about 200 times and it is one of my favorite tunes.👍🏻❤️☮️🙏🏼
A great song!! the drums, the brass and sax solos are amazing,a complex song with lots of heart and soul,Don sings this to perfection, there are caves in Altimira,Spain with centuries old paintings on the the walls, this song goes back to the 1970s and hasn't dated.
Nice reaction. The Royal Scam is Steely Dan's best album....Peak of Their career...
Please.
The guys couldn't get a live sound they were satisfied with, so they quit touring til about 1994 or so.
Don't give up on the Dan!🗿
The band also included Jeff "Skunk" Baxter who went on to play with the Doobie Brothers for many years.
Jazz Rock fusion, love me some Steely Dan. Yes, I love the deeper cuts too. Pretzel Logic, Green Earrings, Haitian Divorce.
I'm not gonna go through the whole comment section, but I'm willing to bet that you're seeing the same list:
Hey Nineteen
Do It Again
Black Friday
Bodhisattva
Dirty Work
Peg
Reelin In The Years
Again, I absolve myself of any shit for not reading the ENTIRE comment section, but I know this music pretty well and it'd be fun to help walk you through some of it.
Many of those jazz musicians you mentioned were hired by Steely Dan. To hear them at the top of their jazz game, listen to the title track of "Aja".
Steely Dan is my favorite band ever! About 62 great songs from 1972 to 1980. A deep rabbit hole that y'all will love.
I grew up listening to Steely Dan, they are still my favorite rock band and led me to fusion jazz. They're awesome.
Every time that sax solo kicks in the hairs in the back of my neck stand up and tingle. Sooooooo good!!!
Thanks to you I am listening to Steely Dan for the first time in years. What talents!!! 🤗🌛✨💙
I was born in 53 and I love watching your reactions to the music that I was raised up with. Keep it going!
Yes! This is my favorite Steely Dan song.
Same!
Every reaction channel needs to check out Green Earrings. The drum break before the first solo is just so dirty.
@@52ndWarhawkGerbil I can tell you the ones who listen are never disappointed
Yes, “Green Earrings!”
Steely Dan is a lot like the Beatles in this respect. They never repeated themselves. There is NO typical Steely Dan sound.
There are so many Steely Dan songs that you need to hear. Quite a rabbit hole to go into.
Don't ever forget... you are great and we love you. Wish I could meet you. All Love
Peace.
@@tonywilliams420 What’s your favorite Steely Dan Album now? Mine has changed through the years. It was Katy Lied, for a long time.
@@modmary1 It is tough to outdo Aja, but Katy Lied has been in rotation for me a lot lately.
So thanks! 🤪
BTW, the caves of Altamira in Spain have incredible early cave art.
I loved Everything but the Girl since the first time I heard their sound and her voice on “Single.”
And I own probably everything by Steely Dan - love ‘em. The Brand New Heavies are great. Someone just requested them yesterday for JJ (“Spend Some Time”).
I dedicated it to you. Lol. And I like Incognito also. Have you heard their cover of Boz Scagg’s “Lowdown” with Chaka Khan?
m.th-cam.com/video/0mcV5JWrO5Q/w-d-xo.html
Ok.
You guys great soo rueing your listen pleasure It’s a rabbit hole so much great songs from this band enjoy.
So amazing how each tune is so different but great.
Enjoy . Try Aja
Cool reaction guys. SD simply created some of the best music ever made (not overstating). Listen to as much of them as you can. You'll see.
it's a real pleasure for me to hear you talk about music - thanks
You guys are awesome! Ignore the idiots. Also, Steely Dan is the greatest band ever!!!! That is a provable fact 😁
Great Job!
Delighted to see a reaction to this song. This may be my favorite SD song. More, please!
Classic album from'76 - I was in love, we played this...
Brilliant, foundational video. Bless you. It worked for me so very very well. You two are the best.
My favorite track on this album. I bought this album so many decades ago and eore this track out. Great reaction!
There so much more Steely Dan you need to hear. Keep going.
Everything Steely Dan ever played is a hit, and worth listening to. You know this now.
When you hear something like the music of Steely Dan, it changes you forever. If it doesn’t, you didn’t hear them. Steely Dan is just a great, great band of musical geniuses at work and play!!!
Love this group, love this song, and love you both. Keep on being you. ✌️💕
I can listen to Steely Dan everyday!! They made some of my favorite songs. The list is loo long to write here!!
Don't apologize...This is life changing music...sooooo many songs...just listen and enjoy....and we will enjoy with you!
I got into Steely Dan in 1974 when a friend gave me the "Pretzel Logic" album as a birthday present. I was immediately hooked and never looked back.
Thanks for not giving up on the Dan.They will become one of your favourite groups as you delve deeper into their catalog.Kid Charlemange,Green earrings ,Don't take me alive and the entire Aja album would be a good place to start.🎶🌴
If the world knew Steely Dan in any meaningful way, what a wonderful world it’d be. 😄
