Im not gonna lie when these genuine christmas classics play i get overwhelmed with emotion sometimes. I cannot wait for the holidays. Hope all is well with everyone around the world.
Same here I can't help it!, I remember my brothers and I got out of foster care in the fall and together we had such a nice christmas and mum would play these songs I never thought the day would come where all the pain and torment will end! I always had a feeling I was being carried through as a child I know how it was the hand of God that helped us through!
Gene doin this, Rudolph probably the best version and Frosty a legend of all hat cowboy and christmas etc catchy as.Merry Xmas and Happy Holidays to all over Our fine World 🌎🌍
I love how the mid-century culture blended the whimsical children's elements of Santa and reindeer, gifts and holly jolly spirit with the religious meaning of God and his most sacred of holidays. Peak Americana.
I'm now a senior in highschool and the nostalgia is insane, nothing can beat the feeling of being a little kid in kindergarden the whole class listening to this while getting served hot chocolates and watching a good christmas movie those were the times.
The children still love this song today, this is truly a timeless masterpiece. It was even played at the hilarious ending of "Christmas Vacation" with Chevy Chase.
Here’s the story behind this song. In 1946’s Hollywood Christmas Parade, then called, “Santa Claus Lane Parade,” Gene Autry was a few spots ahead of the grand finale: Santa Claus. His placement caused him and Champion, his horse, to be ignored, but the children could all be heard shouting, “Here Comes Santa Claus!!!” repeatedly. On October 6, 1947, Gene introduced the world to his Christmas hit, “Here Comes Santa Claus,” inspired by the parade. It went on to hit number 5 on the country charts, and 9 on the pop charts, in ‘47. As recently as 2022, it reached number 25 on Billboard’s Hot 100. Not bad for a 75 year old treasure! Here comes Santa Claus, right down Santa Claus Lane! Happy Holidays all!
Gene Autry probably one of the nicest people in show Biz, such a warm voice, also, a shrewd businessman, buying the Angels Baseball Club, they may have not won many games most seasons, but Think he was well liked by the players and was a real fan, Finally, they won it all in 2002, Think he was really smiling widely from heaven!
This song was recording in August/1947 & released November/1947. To this day, it's still played on the air. Listen to the beat.. When this song came out, it was a few months before I was born. Yes, I'll be 75 in March. If you think of the beat and rythm it's a nice dance song.
He did indeed write it. However, for me it has to be Bob B Soxx version. Phil Spector conjuring up the magic of Christmas, with that epic production. Could i just make the observation that the parents of the kids living down Santa Claus lane, made a very shrewd move. Oh quick, there he is. Finally. Off to bed then. Thanks Santa
I always used to like this song that Gene Autry sings for Christmas. This means that my heart is pounding and jumping for joy for the holidays to start.
Not even close to Christmas I’m pretty sure I have SAD seasonal affective disorder and I love the winter coldness this is the closest I can get to feeling it’s winter I love this it makes me so happy and I can’t stop smiling
Kids loved Gene Autry until we got old enough to know he was not one of our working class like our dads and how he opposed unions and the right to bargain with rich capitalists like him for fair wages and proper dignified working conditions. We are old now and we remember how hard our parents labored to provide that extra for us a Christmas. Thanks Daddy and Mommy. Wearing my Gene Autry cowboy hat aged 7 and shooting my cap gun while Mom cooked the dinner and Dad smoked his stogie. The happiest days of our lives.
What I find most awesome about this song is that it was conceived while Gene was riding his horse down Hollywood Blvd during the Hollywood Christmas Parade (I believe it was called the Santa Claus Parade or something similar back then) and he heard people screaming "Here comes Santa Claus!"
So sweet, and light hearted and fun. Here comes Santi Claus. Even a simple Christmas song was done better back in the day. I don't know why, it just was.
i love when he says “he doesn’t care if the kids are rich or poor he loves us all the same.” Such a sweet line! Merry Christmas 2021

It's incredible, Christmas is the only time of year mainstream radio stations play music from the 40s and 50s on the air.

The song hit different when you were a kid
And your visualizing the lyrics
And then when you're an adult you realise Santa Claus is an anagram of Satan Lucas (Lucifer)
Merry christmas 2023.

Gene Autry was awesome. He was a great singer and solid role model for the young people. Hard to find good role models nowadays.
It's simply a master piece..he actually had three number one hit Christmas songs...an achievement never matches ever
