I'm so sorry but ever since she recorded 'Toss a Coin' I see Karliene as such a bard of our century, putting together beautiful words of stories, myths etc. in even more beautiful song and music in a style that is not so common today.

@@Streamfyre I apologize in advance, because it happened once that when I mentioned the bard, one of my friends reacted as if I had compared her to Ebola, but I never meant to offend or undermine her. In my mind, it perfectly underscores her great talent. So that's why. Her work is really top notch. I can listen to The Beating of her Wings 24/7 with no problem! And I could make an endless list of songs.

Although my degree is english studies, I didn't know this poet at all, thanks for this Karliene. Usually I see in articles that Tolkien revived the old myths in his books,(myths that existed before Christianity that is) but perhaps this is not entirely true, as this older poem definitely looks like a poem that could be in the Lord of the Rings. The melody you put definitely creates an atmosphere, this could definitely be a theme song for Game of Thrones❤
What’s emotional and a bit frightening about this poem is it was written about WW1. “Dragons of the air/hellhounds of the deep” planes (likely bombers given the poem’s description of indiscriminate slaughter from the air) and Tanks or flamethrowers. WW1 was also the war Tolkien served in. If you want my opinion that conflict should’ve ended all wars but to our detriment didn’t.

Wow. HOLY MAZZILLO! What a SUPER HOT VIBRATO you got there!!!! And that effect I'm not sure of the name but I like to call it the 'Kelly Clarkson' effect. It's where there's one or more voices in one octave, then others on a different octave in the background. Kelly Clarkson was the first I heard to use that effect a lot, and it makes it sound hotter. And "Mazzillo" as in 'Holy Mazzillo' is the name of a great maker of my favorite instrument in the world (Italian bagpipes, yes, there are such things).

Fantastic work, Karliene! Some of the riffs in there sound slightly Eastern/Chinese in origin - intentional, with dragons? Or maybe having just re-watched "Firefly", I'm more attuned to East-West blends again. Loved hearing this today!
