As promissed, I'm here listening to your interpretation. It may be the first one of Aguilera de Heredia that I actually enjoyed. As it goes by, tientos, which tend to have more of a reiterative approach than a developing one, usually exhaust the audition of people who are not used to them. Tientos are all about the repetition of certain motives rather than a development of them. Your ornaments and tempo, and your "handling" of the voices are the ones required for the tiento not to be tiresome. As we say in Spanish, "Enhorabuena, una interpretación magistral”!

Thank you for the nice comment! Yes, the recurring subject is the first few notes of the latin Hymn Salve Regina always in various rhythmical contexts. I was following Tomás de Santa María on the practise of ornamenting. He says in his treatise that at least one ornament, quiebros or redobles are required every minim. And that seems to change a lot on the music and makes the organ sound more 'alive', as it were. I am really glad you liked the recording 😊
@ Yes I always wanted to call at least to say hi but then got so caught up in organ playing and vocal ensemble that I had stopped harpsichord completely and only recently restarted! Are you still in Basel?

@@TobiasSing I live mostly in Budapest, but I still have my church job in Oberwil so I am back basically every other weekend. In the peak times (Christmas, Easter) Every week. Now after Corona, I am going back on the 10th for a few days and then also for the 21st June. I would also be happy to give you my two other CDs.
I'm fine thank you Márton. Really enjoyed that piece. You're getting me into this period of music! Hope all is well over there:-)

@@marcus8258 I am really excited. I would already love to be doing the recording sessions. The programme is in fact a vesper liturgy and there will be a liturgical choir singing all the plaintchants between the organ pieces. That will take about 35 minutes and then on the harpsichord I play music that was written for secular use (Bull, Gibbons, etc,) but inspired by all these liturgical pieces. I am really being into this now. :-)
Sounds like this is going to be a really interesting album! I had very little knowledge of this earlier of music but since downloading some scores I'm developing an appreciation for it. The church you made this recording in was very beautiful as well!

@@marcus8258 I really like this earlier music. Nick Parle drew my attention to it. Spanish and English keyboard music in the 16th century is so highly developed. I wish Hungary had a similarly big keyboard culture, but nothing till Liszt (whose music I do not really appreciate either, but it is my fault). I am so lucky to be able to do all these projects. :-)
