Guys, thanks so much for the feed back. Some really good stuff this time. I will mentions these in upcoming videos. Also did you see the sign? Several saw it around the 4:40 mark. I am blown away they saw that. Congrates to the winner of the koozie Swithchback.
Most people seem to like #2 but the reason I like #1 is it's more towards the center of the boat and no matter where you're standing on the boat the music would sound good.
Hi Mike! #2 for sure, the important thing is to check behind before cutting out the holes. I also a Bayliner 285, and found many hoses running behind that same space. I have the same system and I'm very happy with the sound quality. I added a Fusion 10" subwoofer, 4- 6.5" speakers and an 700 watt marine power amp, and it sounds amazing, all together with the wireless remote, those are awesome. Hope you are doing Great! Peace from the Keys!
I like 2, especially if you could find some speaker pods which are angled to avoid cross firing. Plus with a pod you wouldn’t have to cut large holes in the boat. Boats looking good sir, enjoying watching the build.
I'd vote for #2. I think you would hear them fine inside the boat, but it would be better than #1 for outside the boat. Loving these restoration videos!
Hey, it just depends on the noise of the motor and the volume level of the stereo. I would say the only reason to have it at position one would be so you can hear the stereo when you're running the motor.
just my opium , speakers always sound better when they are aimed at the listener , you wont need to pump it up so loud . you are doing that old girl justice and i cant wait to see you complete the loop. thanks for sharing
very cool your rebuilding this boat, and i like your plans for the great loop will follow along, thanks for taking the time and energy to make and post these vids
Your second spot is better for practicality (also won't be blasting into your ears as you drive)...but not too close the corners! The stern corners is are one of the strongest parts of the boat, you don't want to compromise that. There may also be stringers running on the backside you'll have to check for.
Very good points, I must say I haven't even thought about the light issue and driving at night. That alone would seal the deal for needing to be in position 2.
Hey! Love the tunes upgrade, especially putting a remote by the swim ladder. Speakers. Neither 1 nor 2. At 1, starboard side is pretty open, but port side has a back rest for L bench on my boat (2450 same as yours). At 2, that’s a loading & moving area, coolers, people, inflatable, etc. The PO was a salmon fisherman and moved around a lot by the stern. He didn’t want to bump those nice speakers. PO of my boat mounted speakers lower by the captain’s chair pedestal on the starboard side and directly across from there under the L bench. I’ll try to grab some pics. Speakers sound great there. But hey, it’s your boat. Go where you think best! Love the videos & the progress! 🍻
LOL I just helped a Air Force buddy install 4 speakers and 8 inch sub with two amps on his Harley. Sound sick!! I would recommended position #1. Center of the boat gives better sound to all the people on the boat. Or better yet put two in #1 and two in #2. And through 2 10" subs to round it off. :) Go small or go BIG.
Thanks for taking us along for the ride, Mike. Great series! Good to see you enjoying some R&R in our beautiful state on the last video. Come back anytime!
Mike, in our 87’ 2455 Bayliner, my father installed the speakers in the steps near where your battery switch is located (before it). They worked well there. I’m looking forward to the next video!
I would buy another pair of speakers. And do #1 and #2. If that is not an option I would go with #1 as it is closer to the cabin and where people on the boat would be.
I agree, once I studied it more and feedback, they would be in the way. Also someone mentioned and I had thought about was the aft section so the speakers are facing forward. That should be better for sound. The lights on the speakers I think will eliminate the need for deck lighting. However I will put large bright lights in the top.
Howdy Mike, your boat is coming along nicely. Do you think you do a #1and#2 and use a fader wear you could use #1 or #2 or both. However another set of speakers would be needed. Anyway that's a really nice looking boat. What ever you do with the speakers I'm sure it will be great. And I love the multiple switches to control the radio. So it sure looks like you're going to one really nice boat when you're finished. James
Love it man!! I would say number 2. Plus like you said you would have access to the rail hardware from the inside. Working on my new old trawler too! New AC’s and just fixed/figured out a hydraulic steering issue… Love videos brother…Erik from Reefpoint Wisconsin
@@CaptainMike1965 I don’t have a TH-cam channel. I do video all my updates just so for the future me or whoever can see the what and where and how. I am on the loop the WI side of Lake Michigan (Michigan side is way more pretty on my opinion). I definitely plan on doing the loop definitely one of my goals.. Thanks for your Chanel love all your past videos of you and friends on that awesome Carver!!
I like 2, but I also think that while you're underway, you won't be able to hear the tunes as well at the helm. Maybe get a small amp and run 4 outside and 2 inside.
Buy another set and install them in both spots, I like 2 otherwise. But if you are running the boat you will need them in the number 1 spot so you do not need to turn it up so loud for the driver to hear.
Tom I hadn't even considered this until your comment. I think that will be the placement. I just need to check what is behind that area but I think it will actually have less obstructions.
Hey Mike. So looking forward to seeing how all this turns out. I’m thinking spot #2 is the better option. If you are on the back deck swimming or just handing out, you should get better audio quality from there. Keep the videos coming! 👍🏻😎
Man you have the best eyes ever! You are correct, and I am impressed. Shoot me a email with your address and I will get a koozie out to you. mike@michaeljaysteen.com

Steve that is true, the only problem is the Port side is very limited for install.
I agree with spot number 2. Plus you could always get some nice wireless speakers to be able to move around where you are at any place in the boat
Yes Kevin, I agree.
#2 looks like a great spot. Especially when your standing there with a rod out.
Hi Mike! #2 for sure, the important thing is to check behind before cutting out the holes. I also a Bayliner 285, and found many hoses running behind that same space. Good and glad to hear you have the same system. I do like it from what I can tell. Can't wait to get in in.

Heck yea!! Happy you got your boat getting it ready to do the loop again!!
Yes, I am happy with the process. Engine is coming out soon.
#2 for sure. It will sound way better in my opinion especially if you left the cabin door open.
Yup Haden, good point. I think that is the consensus.
I'd vote for #2. I think you would hear them fine inside the boat, but it would be better than #1 for outside the boat. Loving these restoration videos!
will do, thanks.
Hey, it just depends on the noise of the motor and the volume level of the stereo. I would say the only reason to have it at position one would be so you can hear the stereo when you're running the motor.
Having redone a pontoon boat with outboard, if you want to hear the music at a planeing speed the more the better.
just my opium , speakers always sound better when they are aimed at the listener , you wont need to pump it up so loud . you are doing that old girl justice and i cant wait to see you complete the loop. thanks for sharing
Thanks for the input Larry. I think I have decided on the transom facing forward. I will do a video with the reasons for it.
I would put the speakers on the port and starboard side on the stern then as you said it would give you good lighting for fishing
Yes Bradley I think you are correct.

thanks for coming along. Hopefully the radio install is soon!

I found out I can't do the bench on Port side as the is the headroom for the aft cabin.

Oh goodness, I love it up there. I plan to come back in the fall.

thanks Thomas, yes the back for sure. Just got to check for any obstructions.
I would buy another pair of speakers. And do #1 and #2. If that is not an option I would go with #1 as it is closer to the cabin and where people on the boat would be.
Mike like #2 so that you could listen while floating on a tube!
Russell you are correct, good point.
Location #2 for the speaker. They will likely be in the way of the seats in location #1. Lights are as nice touch back there too.
I agree, once I studied it more and feedback, they would be in the way. Also someone mentioned and I had thought about was the aft section so the speakers are facing forward. That should be better for sound. The lights on the speakers I think will eliminate the need for deck lighting. However I will put large bright lights in the top.
Agree with another post. Both locations with individual remotes. You select each or all.
I think I have decided against the #1 position. I think it will get in the way of the seat cushions.
I think you should put them in the back for sure that is where mine is and with the ones in the Bow and in the back you'll have music everywhere
Chuck I think you are right. As some one mentioned, I need to just check for and obstructions behind it.
Howdy Mike, your boat is coming along nicely. Do you think you do a #1and#2 and use a fader wear you could use #1 or #2 or both. However another set of speakers would be needed. UP FRONT , CENTER ....COOL !...NO. 1 ...
Thanks Joe, looks like most are thinking 2. We shall see.
I have the exact boat n have mine in the back. I couldn't put mine up front bc the cushions .
Yes I think you are right. Looks like the back.
I'm hoping to meet up next summer in Lake St Clair!!!
Just remember when you see me up that way and shoot me a email. We will do it.
I seen the subscribe sign 4:42 hidden upside down behind the bucket!!
I can't believe so many people seen it. Dang!!
I like 2, but I also think that while you're underway, you won't be able to hear the tunes as well at the helm. Maybe get a small amp and run 4 outside and 2 inside.
You know I hadn't thought about a amp, but several have recommended it. May need to look into it.
Above the battery switch on both sides of the boat sir
Thanks Jonathen, I think you are correct.
Buy another set and install them in both spots, I like 2 otherwise. But if you are running the boat you will need them in the number 1 spot so you do not need to turn it up so loud for the driver to hear.
Hmm, I hadn't thought about that. When you coming to install them for me?
If you can put it on the transom it would then face toward you so you could hear it better.
Tom I hadn't even considered this until your comment. I think that will be the placement. I just need to check what is behind that area but I think it will actually have less obstructions.
Capt Mike, are you rebuilding this boat to attempt the second part of the loop?
Yes sir, I start back in summer of 24 in April. I want to have this boat complete and splash her on Jan 1.
Hey Mike. So looking forward to seeing how all this turns out. I’m thinking spot #2 is the better option. If you are on the back deck swimming or just handing out, you should get better audio quality from there. Keep the videos coming! 👍🏻😎
Thanks Scott, yes seems like that is going to be the placement.
#2 is better for hanging back of boat
#1, less likely to get wet being that close to the rear of the boat , I don’t care if they say waterproof nothing electrical is truly waterproof
true statement.
Mount them up on a roll/canopy bar?
You know, no one has said that and it's got me thinking.
Are you gonna trailer up or start Loop from scratch.
I am going to trailer her up to where I left off in Chesapeake VA. I can't wait to get back on the water.

Did you happen to connect your fusion to a Garmin chartplotter
Not yet as I haven't gotten to the install of those yet but yes I have both. I have the Garmin 94SV new in the box to be installed.
I’d put them in the back for sure. 100%
Thanks Snomo, looks like that is the consensus.

Correct Doug but a little late. Make sure the bell notification is on so you know when the video drops.
