It's called jealousy. He doesn't take the time to sell on ebay so he hates on others who do. If you ask me he made himself look like an idiot.
That was my thought as well…jealousy…it’s not a good look on anyone! He made himself look bad..going on and on! I don’t ever comment but this one got to me! Jessica and Dustin..keep doing what you do…you both do it well!
He was asking for video games and baseball gloves, he is most likely a flipper himself. He got triggered seeing Dustin (his competition) there. The dude is a major loser.
No if anything I think he does resell. People are frustrated with You Tubers making it look so easy. That is part of the reason Ebay has gotten inundated with crappy sellers. It still isn a reason to speak to someone like that. I could be wrong also he might not be. a reseller. I just got the feeling he was.
A scam involves taking advantage and/or tricking someone out of property/money for your own gain. Each person owns the items, they can research prices, hold onto the items for week/months until bought, and then ship them out.
But they don’t want to go through that process, they want to put it out, sale it fast, and never see it again. Generally speaking, no one is being forced to sale there “junk”, so where is the scam?
That guy is just one of those people with nothing good to say and just walks around in a cloud of negativity.

When we sold books online, my dad and I had an old Karen volunteer worker at a book sale act like that. I mean, you can resell them yourself you want a house full of books, sign up for the monthly fees of a listing site or just wait on ebay with free listing, waiting for whenever they sell. It might be a year, it might be 5, it might be never.
And they weren't even her books. It was a fundraiser book sell at some elementary school.
I wouldn't complain if you're making money. The thing about yard sales is you are trying to get rid of it for dirt cheap not everything but still quick and cheap. It's not eBay you can't expect top dollar .

Yep it's a scam...that requires 80 hours, 7 days a week, no weekends off and a huge amount of self discipline. Yep definitely a scam!

I do question how many sellers really make. I"ve been doing estate sales and garage sales for years. I know what I'm doing but you can't make money to live on.
I always feel I need to share my story after hearing someone being negative about resellers. I had to stop working because of back issues and cancer surgery. No social security and no unemployment insurance. Because of resellers like you while I was recovering I learned from you and many other sellers. I started a little over a year ago with never thinking I was going to become rich because of what resellers say. I see how I can grow And make more progress, but it’s helped me make payments so I don’t have to completely depend on family to pay my bills. So thank you for sharing your knowledge! Any other TH-cam resellers that may read this I appreciate all of you more than you know!

I wish ebay resellers like this had been around when I lost everything I owned in the 2008 recession. I probably would have been o.k., because I loved to thrift shop. Now I was a freelance writer, but I lost my work due to AI so I'm trying this just for extra money. I love this channel!

I have been waiting for this video, I was actually at the sale where the guy called you a scammer. I didn't say anything because I didn't want to get involved but that was crazy, I thought he was joking at first. He could have at least tried to back up his claims if he was going to go there. And I think it's nice you didn't put in the other person he bashed name in the video.

Yeah but the man makes a point. You can't make a living doing this. I've checked out the inventory of the youtubers and they're selling things that nobody buys. Rockstar Flipper is a good example of that. Selling remote controls etc that are at least 10 years old

Hmmm, I don’t know… I think I have a different opinion. I would have liked to see Dustin stand up for himself and defend his occupation. He thought about it when he responded “how is it a scam?” but he backed off. I don’t think I would have stood there and let someone bash my integrity, my business, and my reputation, not to mention another person in the business who may or may not be Dustin’s friend. But then again I’m mouthy and confrontational sometimes so…
I’ve realized folks really don’t know the meaning of a scam or scammers.
That guy needs to pick up a dictionary and educate himself on what a scam is . If you pay for something that someone else is selling , and decide to turn around and sell that item for more than you bought it , that’s not a scam .

I am not interested in reselling education. Totally into the entertainment factor, something to watch while I crochet. The man who started pontificating about you being a scammer is just showing his ignorance, he wants to find a get rich without any work scheme I bet.

Jason, I think you handled that sarcasm perfectly. Yes he mentioned other resellers, but if you were to stick up for them there would have been more. It’s so weird to hear people complain like that! Everyone is going to be hated by someone. Resellers are easy targets. What these TH-cam channels don’t emphasize is the cost of selling in addition to fees, such as - state and federal income tax, supplies, bookkeeping, health insurance to name a few. (All working people pay those costs, too.) The animosity you faced at that sale was pure malicious judgement.

I found the jarts at yard sale last year bought for $50. Then found out the same. So I emailed a group online that gets together and has tournaments.sold for 450 but I had the original box.

Reselling is not a get rich quick “scam”….to be successful you have to be dedicated and do a ton of research to learn what sells, sell through rates, profit margins, etc etc etc.

I just love the guy talking about it being a scam how resellers say it’s a quick way to get rich but then he’s the type of reseller to only look for video games. Then when he doesn’t get any and/or isn’t seeing the fruits of his labor, he gets mad at the youtuber instead of blaming himself for not expanding his knowledge.

I'm a reseller, I do so locally, in person, and only accept cash, the number one reason I do not sell on feebay is the scammers, and the fees ofcourse. I do well enough.

😂 unfortunately altercations are becoming more common because some people hate resellers. I had a guy get in my face cussing me right in a thrift store because he was angry that I’m a reseller then he put his hands on me, and that was the first time I’ve been in a situation where I had to drop someone in a thrift store. I was okay up until he put his hands on me.
I understand garage sales but reselling from a thrift store is kinda shitty for the people who can’t afford the items your reselling that were expensive in the first place

Let the haters hate. You're an honest person and I've never seen you claim reselling will make anyone rich. For me this is a fun hobby that makes me more money than it costs me. Not a ton of other hobbies can people say that about.
What does it matter if people resell or not? The people at the yard sale make their money as well as thrift stores and it keeps items out of landfills. People need to worry about themselves instead of what other people are doing
Can you get rich reselling? Probably not. Can you make a living doing it? For sure, but it’s a crazy amount of hard work. It’s hilarious that he claimed it’s a “scam” but had no example. Got a huge laugh out of that.
I've been garage saleing and dumpster diving for nearly 30 years. Work in a community where people throw away a lot of valuable items. I find tons of mountain bikes, stereo equipment, power tools, etc...
A couple of my best recent finds were an $800 handmade troll doll, numerous high end stereo components, $4,000 speaker set, $900 gas powered bicycle. The gas powered bicycle and speakers were free dumpster scores and the $800 doll was $20 at a local thrift store.
That guy has a victim mentality. I love reselling. I feel like Indiana Jones finding treasures.

In the bin with the LOL doll, there was a pair of dolls (boy & girl) that looked like American Girl Bitty Baby twins, those can go for good $$, something to watch for.
As soon as he said scam, I literally said "how is it a scam" as soon as you said it LOL. And then the guy has no response... "you tell me" um what? You handled that situation better than I would have.
Yard-sailing and reselling are both fun and worthwhile pastimes, nobody ever got rich doing it but it’s a great way to pass time and make a little bit of money. That feller had jealousy in his voice and unhappiness in his heart. I greatly enjoy watching you and all the other awesome resellers on TH-cam, truly. Don’t get what his problem is? People are selling their stuff, you paid them for it. It’s yours to do what you please. If you’re making profit that’s on the people selling it that don’t want to put the time and effort in to sell it on eBay
You are paying him a price HE agrees to, so it's FAR from a scam. Your response (How is it a scam?) was fair and respectful, and he didn't have an answer.

It's a huge amount of work. Those who aren't organized to an extent will really struggle. I don't see people getting rich but sure helps the budget. Your vehicle takes a toll on all that hauling an driving.

I was given a little Lego set that was an unopened Star Wars Lego set. I gave it to my son (adult) for my granddaughter, who was 2 at the time. He opened the box and they put it all together when my daughter, a part time reseller, about crapped herself. Unopened, it could have sold for about $80. Oops.

Dealers always get a bad rap. I used to be one years ago and go to tons of yard sales with a friend and she made several rude comments about dealers. I said "you do know Im a dealer, right?" It was MY JOB at the time! We dealers do all the work, researching, listing, packing, shipping to get the best price for the item on line! The yard sale owner doesnt do that, but THEY COULD. Instead, they bitch about us being nefarious scammers cuz we make money on the item. It's just so dumb.

Unfortunate that you had to come across that person. In my experience, most people who make comments such as this are likely socially or mentally maladjusted. I’m not making excuses, but I think something is wrong with that guy. You handled that very well.

I use to sell my stuff at garage sales but after following you I started a you tube channel and I have a posh mark account so I can get fair and good prices for my Coach and Michael Kors purse and everything else .......Thank you for educating me on how to sell things the right way I am shocked people still do Garage Sales as anyone can list .Have a great day

I would love to have a set of lawn jarts ! I look for them everywhere I go. I heard you can sell them if you mail them in 2 separate pieces. Don't know. As for that guy with the mouth Dustin at the sale, I say that anyone who is willing to work hard and buy things cheap and sell them for profit is very smart. It's something not everyone can do because it takes quite a while to build up a client following who likes what you buy.you are not scamming anyone because you are very up front about where you get your items . You usually even tell us how much you paid for it ! You do the hard work for us by finding the items we want and we are happy to buy them you. Your prices are more than fair. You actually should charge a little more than you do some times😅. I love your videos and watch as many as I can. You and Jessica are very good at finding items that sell well. I don't know how you kept your cool, you're a better person than I am because I wouldn't have been able to act so calm. Some people are just miserable people who wants to drag everyone with them. I love watching you two, I've worked for 42 year at 1 place then 1 day I retired and it about drove me nuts sitting at home, thanks to you guys and some others I started to resell. I turned 2 of my kids old bedrooms into my ebay area, I'm not on your level by any means but I do what works for me so thank you for showing me a way to keep busy! Keep up the good work you do!
I’ll be the first to say it’s not easy money. Selling on eBay gets old real quick. Listing items , shipping items, cleaning testing items. It’s all a real pain in the ass 😂
I really don't get it that people are so ignorant and mad about what a buyer does with the stuff they buy. Seller asks a price they want and someone buys it. Why be jealous if the buyer sells it for what he wants. Everyone gets what they asked for it. No need to be rude. I am glad you walked away!

1, you have to pay for gas/transport.
2, advertising- takes time and money.
3, working unsociable hours.
4, Hard work cleaning up products.
5, listing, photos of each item (takes time)
5 products may not sell at all.
6, Hard work looking around yard sales etc.
7, huge risk involved in which a seller running a yard/garage sale etc can sell you broken products and lie about it. Reseller is taking a risk!
8 Tax man.
9 broacasting/streaming on social media is hard work and computer equipment etc that you use is not cheap. But you need to advertise your business.
Just a few reasons why your job/ business is not easy.
Carry on what you are doing. Love your channel. Not a scam!
I see all these youtube resellers grabbing the Blurays when in reality 90% are super long tail if they ever sell. You might make $2 per disc in the end and that's a maybe. I'm talking about mass produced discs not boxsets etc. That category is SUPER saturated with media only sellers selling for $5 shipped untracked. Then you have to deal with people renting them for free from you.
People need to know that it takes over 6 months for many items to sell right now if you want to make at least 30% after fees.
So many people working for $3 per hour in this business and they don't even track anything.
A lot of the movies I've been buying lately are for my personal collection. I don't think I picked up any in this one, but I've been on a cheap physical media buying spree lately.
I feel you on the media side though as we've been shifting to a $20 or above listing strategy with it and making lots of stuff for anything that doesn't meet that threshold.
