Ataman didn't just outcoach Mateo; he effectively humiliated all the Euroleague coaches who voted for Mateo as the best coach of the season. Winning the Euroleague title with only one center is a testament to Ataman's strategic brilliance and adaptability. While Ataman made substitutions with the precision and timing of a handball game, Mateo's team consistently failed to make the right decisions under real pressure. Despite accusations that he doesn't coach much during games, he proved to everyone that he can overcoach if he wants.
Most of the times Ataman doesn't want to interfere too much in the game like other coaches. It's more about his philosophy than a lack of skill.
"I'm not a coach who uses tactics, but we utilized a lot of tricks with Juancho and Mitoglou in the 5 to bolster our strength," Ataman said.
This is after the Olympiacos - Panathinaikos Greek league regular season game.
They may only have one classic 5, but they have two very good physical 4's who can play as a small big, Juancho and Mitoglou not to mention Kostas Antetokoumpo.

I gonna start my comment saying i am an Olympiacos fan, thus inviting all the "pain" responses from Pao fans and without having a rewatch of the final or the techniacal means or knowledge to complement my opinion, I don't believe it was an outcoaching that gave Panathinaikos its 7th title. It was the terrible shot making of Real in the 2nd half and their inabillity to convert great looks letting them change the momentum of the game. We already knew that Pao has one of the best defences in the league and also has a 5man rotation with great length and defensive prowess(as they showcased against fener) but even them did not completelly "destruct" Real offense. They still generated chances, finding the open man even with this kind of pressure . But in these kind of games you have to utilize your chances and they simply just didn't.
