I couldn't have attended this gig, but I was thinking 'crap, I would have liked to go"... but having seen these videos, I think I would have lost quite a lot of passion for these songs seeing them played live; they're on autopilot, there's no passion. I love Bossanova and Trompe le Monde, Motorway to Roswell is one of my favourite songs ever, but man, if I was there... I wouldn't have liked it. I would have felt weird on the drive home.

I wouldn't say they were on autopilot at all during these shows. If anything, they were very aware and concentrating to get these songs right, many of them they haven't performed live in decades. Pixies are never jumping around on stage anyway, they stand and deliver. I think knowing that these two albums were the most produced with extra instrumentation on the albums and that a 4 piece live band version was never going to sound exactly like the recordings helped gage expectations. In the end, I saw 3 shows in a week and was not disappointed, and would've gone to more if it were possible for me.

@@planetofsoundpodcast9859Thanks for the reply. I'll admit that I haven't been following the Pixies' live efforts much at all since I first discovered them about 10 years ago because I'm still relatively young and prefer to hear intense screaming and more volatile performances from a band, but you've given me something to think about with that fact that they focus more on "delivering" instead of trying to act like their former selves. I do agree that, instrumentally and aesthetically, theses songs sound like the albums, its just I was a bit put off by the fact that Joey was out of time during the performance of Alec Eiffel from this gig and Charles seemed to hold back on the intensity scale on the songs on what I consider one of the most intense albums I've heard.
But respect to you if you enjoyed it; I think me not keeping up with the band and expecting Brixton 1991 BN/TLM version might have hampered my enjoyment had I went.
