I loved the Joker's Wild! This episode aired a year before I was born but damn I watched a ton of Price Is Right as a yute. I mean a youuuuuth.
Now that's the definition of a game show commitment that I pray continue to be honored forever.
RIP Bob Barker. I was born in ‘81, and The Price Is Right was a part of my childhood, adolescence, and young adulthood. ❤
And now it’s a woke clown show how sad.
@@iwanaGoFast2010 Oh really? How sad. I have not watched in over a decade. I transgender btw. I am certainly not in agreement with what the extremists are trying to push on everyone. We are not all the same.
@@Lanae8199 I really didn’t mean in that way. Woke has alot of different things associated with it. Sorry I offended you I respect the way people are made and their decisions on how they live.
@@iwanaGoFast2010 I was not offended by your statement. A lot of people today are so easily offended. I actually agree with you.
Connie was an amazing first Guest. Loved her energy
Up with energy down with grace. Connie's great!
Wonder if she still has that coat?
She´d be at least 101 years old now.@@Deezeelove
@@Deezeelove I'm sure it outlasted the Vega!
@@dmsjcapeople in the '70s were a different breed, Connie was probably 30 in this 😂
Bob Barker, a legend of daytime TV 📺 WGMC!!
Summers and holiday weeks off from school, sick days, Bob was a staple of my childhood entertainment, nobody will ever take his place RIP Bob
Even if Drew Carey has settled into doing so for 17 years now... Amen.
Thanks for including the commercials. It really adds to the viewing experience!
That seat belt PSA at 7:19:
“They’re too confining”
“They wrinkle my dress”
“I like to relax when I drive”
R.I.P. Mr. Bob Barker. This show just is not the same without you. A legend gone never forgotten. ❤️
This is the best copy ever. Better than what I had in any tape/DVD trade in the past.
Free on you tube ♡♡
It's awesome the tape was saved.
Incredible time capsule all around, nobody saw it this clear, ever lol. Interesting to watch the camera work with no stability anything, they had the basic formula down from day one though.
I’m interested in how it looks. Crystal clear. But when moving you can see horizontal lines. Anyone know the technicalities of this video?
The fact that so many things on this show are still the same in 2023 is a testament to the originality of this show at the time...
R.I.P Mr. Barker, good memories of watching you with my long departed grandfather on TV, all those decades ago.
Omg I freaking love this!!!! I was born in the 70's and grew up watching this. My parents watched it every weekend and we kids laid out of school to watch it. I love the time capsule its great seeing the fashion the audience and the old commercials. Love you Bob Barker rest in peace my friend.💜💜 you will always be remembered.
I was born in 1984 and during the 90s I used to love watching this show. RIP Bob Barker.
I first remember seeing the shows in 89 with my brother when my parents dropped us off at our grandparents for the week. I grew up with white hair Bob. The old Gex-ers and younger Boomers had brown hair Bob.
Like right after finished watching Saturday morning cartoons?
1984 here too.
Connie set the bar and requirement for every contestant that came after her! This was fantastic to watch, I was 4 when it came out and I still remember watching it almost every day with my mom for many years and still watch it today!
@praywithoutceasing4939Yes! I loved the Sonny and Cher Show. I was eight when The Price is Right came out and loved watching when I was at home "sick" from school
It was probably scripted to get people to watch. I mean seriously, every number right? On the first show?
@@TchrisO123lol you’re so adorable
@@TchrisO123my exact thoughts as well. All they had to hope for was that she guessed the 2 and 7 and the rest of the numbers could interchangeably be placed on the bottom prizes. It was rigged no doubt.
@@TchrisO123 No. After the late 50's rigging scandals all these shows were watched very closely.
What made this show such a hit is how it individually highlighted and characterized it's average-jo blue collar contestants. And great games, great host.
I was 11 years in 1972, I remember watch The Price is Right with brother and two sisters. We loved the show.
Here is something I can guaranty you. All the appliances in the show are still working today. I've got a fridge I keep my beer in. Made in 1977 and still works today as good as new.
Yeah but none of the appliances from the 70s have a "eco" mode.
This show reminds me my father. He always watch it in the 70's and 80's so I started watching it and enjoying it with him. Very fond memories
Man I grew up on this show! Summers hanging out in the morning eating giant bowls of cereal and watching "The Price is Right"
Giant Bowels. Good Ole Days.
Watching this super clear picture and hearing Johnny Olson announcing takes me back. It was like I was 8 years old again, home sick from school with my grandmother.
I had chicken noodle soup and toast. When I watched
Love this show! I remember watching it late 90s early 2000s. This episode aired 11 years before I was born! What a time piece to watch! The hairstyles, the clothes, the comments, the prizes! whoa!
I out this video on my TV set and turned up the volume while i was working in the kitchen and just doing chores. I honestly stopped and cried for a bit. For a moment , hearing This show in the background i was taken n back to my childhood days in the 70's hearing this show in my parents home in the background as mom worked and we played. The tears were happiness and hurt. Happiness for a beautiful memory and hurt because i desire so badly to go back.
I really loved the music of this show. The main jingle is actually quite ingenious in its chord changes.
Show was never the same when Bob left....I will forever love Bob...R.I.P.
OMG I love Connie! ❤❤❤😃😃😃😃 Perfect contestant to kick off this long lasting TV game show! RIP Bob Barker.
This is amazing... hearing his voice and seeing how he looked. Then seeing all the items on the showroom floor really puts a time stamp! That color TV needs a moving company to get it home.
This is American history right here. Any kid during the 70s to some time after the millennium remembers staying home and seeing Bob host this show. His face should be added to Mount Rushmore.
Bob Barker was the reason this show was so successful and the sexy models!! 😍
You must a gayyyy...it was the chicks and fun games
@@twhalenyea the music is why it's still on TV, not because people actually watch it
That's certainly a big part of it, but another part is that the game is so good.
Well sometimes the intro used to say
*_BARKER'S BEAUTIES ARE HOT!_*
Bob Barker was, and always will be, the BEST MC in my book!!!
RIP to all these people having such a fun time back then
someone is still alive
Today is September 4, 2023, RIP Bob Barker. I was 11 years old when this aired. I have great memories with my mom watching these, while my dad worked.
Years later with a bid like, both showcases would've been won.
Yes, that was quite interesting -- and the person who had earlier guessed the exact price would have won an extra $100 for it. I wonder when they changed the rules!
I was six years old when this aired. I probably saw it live because Dad loved this show, and I used to watch it with him. Wonderful memories. ❤
I was 1 1/2.........:)
almost 5
Nobody could do it better than Bob. The way he explained the game. Reminded her where to stand. Great show. Started 5 years before I was born and lemme tell you, I watched that show everyday I was off from school.
Bob already had 15 years of practice from Truth or Consequences. He'd gotten it down to a science by the time he started hosting Price.
Bob Barker could never and will never be replaced!
Bob was such fun to watch. Always happy and his dry humor and sarcastic remarks were hilarious.
Notice how they had real furr coats. We need to go back to the good times. The car paint wasnt water based qnd the clearcoat was thick. On a metal doorpanel
The best gift that show could give was to meet Mr Barker. To be on the same stage as him would be an honor
The man was smooth. Just listen to how he explains the games. So easy to understand. Gotta say when it comes to game show host BOB is truly the GOAT. Those commercials had me in this weird time capsule.
I agree. Smooth, quick witted, even with three cameras and lights all on him.
I watched this show on so many summer mornings in the 80's; dropped at grandma's house (who slept till noon) so my mother could go to work. This show was a staple of my weekday summer mornings for years until I was old enough to stay home on my own. And I still watched it most mornings even then.
Wow. This show was destined to be a classic from the day it was born!!! Loved this show!
I actually started tearing up soon as I heard the opening theme song . I’ve better seen the very first episode until now 😢❤️ RIP Bob . Thank you for helping my sick days feel a little better
I teared up as well!
This was my favorite game show as a kid. Not quite as old as this episode, but the ones in the 80s for sure. Really nice share. RIP Mr. Barker.
I was a little girl watching the Price is right, it would never get old and the whole family just love watching it. Mr Barker was like a part of the family sorta, to me. Mr Bob Barker, may you rest in peace 💐
A lot of great memories watching "The price is right" with my family. Rest In Peace Bob Barker, you are greatly missed
Back then people didn't know the strategy of bidding $1 above the highest bidder. They also didn't offer the bonus for someone guessing the exact price. Fun to watch... even the commercials! =)
They also didn't offer both showcases for guessing under $100 to the actual price.
It's amazing how many people DON'T realize that the 4th bidder has all the power. They can bid either $1 or $1 over the highest bid. Yet, there as so many who don't get it. Amazing.
I don't know how I watched this show so much as a kid as it only came on when I was supposed to be in school.
The very first contestant won a new car! I grew up in the eighties and I used to watch the Price is Right with Bob Barker all the time. Good times.
WOW, I was around one year old when this aired. I remember as a little boy, I thought Bob Barker was so cool; he was like a Super Hero! My mom would watch this all of the time.🥰
I seriously miss this era. Bob barker you were a stud back then and always has been. You are truly missed.
Thank you so much for bringing back this treasure from the past to us. This kind of television needs to be preserved; commercials included! This is absolutely golden; just like Bob Barker's tan and smile.
Bob barker and Peter Tomarken inspired me as a child to speak in front of people. I always wanted to be a game show announcer and/or host when I grew up in the 80s. I'm finally living that dream as a youth sports announcer in my hometown. Don't make much on it, but boy is it rewarding.
Right on!
Everything about the show, and commercials was so nostalgic. Fantastic!
my mom started to watch the price is right when i was about a year old in jan 73 and still watches it to this day. she was sad when Bob Barker passed away.
I did not realize brother (maker of my laser printer) was such an old company. They made typewriters?!?
Oh hey look who it is
My sister gave me her brother typewriter when I went to college in the 80s. It was a big hit. It was compact and had a word processor. You could type in a whole page, read it over and then hit type.
Likewise didn't realize Hamilton Beach had been around since the 70s or earlier. Just recently had one of their blenders crap out on me, that I had for like a decade (granted, didn't use it all that much). Apparently blended my smoothie a bit too long and the motor gave out, or something. **Sigh**
Anyway. Was weird seeing something from Hamilton Beach in the first episode of TPiR... Never really thought of it as a particularly high end or long-lived brand. But, apparently it's been around a while like Black & Decker, I guess?
Brother is the only printer I will own, I hope they are around a longtime!
Yes! They made manual and Elictric typewriters (had one in the 1980's).
Typewriters, fur coats, roller skates, peel and stick tiles...this was a cool nostalgic trip in time. Thank you!
I was 5 years old when this aired 😮
OMG IM OLD! Thanks for the memories...RIP Mr. Bob Barker ❤💋
Wonder if you were in the pepto bismol commercial that aired near the end of the show? @25:40
Wow, what a treat! Who didnt love TPIR when Bob Barker was the host. His enchanting voice, bubbly presence and sparkling smile is one of a kind. He's like the Michael Jackson of game show host. They'll never be another. RIP to the GOAT 🐐 Bob Barker.....
Bob was such a professional with his improvs and charisma.
One of my core memories is watching TPIR on a small black and white TV that my grandma set up for me while I ate fresh raspberries from her garden. 8 year old me never had it so good :)
This reminds me of my childhood when the world was all new to me. Makes me feel warm inside. Thani you for uploading this.!
valuable footage, these commercials in hd are mind blowing. your brain knows it 50years old, but your eyes think it could have been produced yesterday.
A total '70s nostalgia trip! Thanks!
What a blast from the past. I was 12 years old and I do remember watching this. I was home from School. My Mother n Grandma was making such a huge big deal about it and I remember watching with them. Connie made my day and I even won all the prizes myself. Didn't make one wrong guess. I was Hoping she would win grand finale too
I am so happy that this has shown up in our TH-cam feeds! It’s been great to read everyone’s memories. I was a wee lad of 4 years old when this aired, but the show was a huge part of my life for decades. I still watch it on the free Roku channel. Blessings to all of you ❤
Connie was a total sweetheart and paul was an absolute boss. This brought tears to my eyes.
Such a fun watch. Complete with the commercials. RIP Bob,
Life was so simple and fun back then! I really miss it 😢.
WoW! I could watch stuff like this everyday! The very big bonus is the old commercials totally awesome!
