On my experienced mostly fouling found on first 2 membranes and scaling is on last 2 membranes. But the most effected membranes is on second stage.. in my opinion theres three factor when to make chem cleaning, 1. Conductivity increasing(depend on feed water quality and broken o-ring). 2. D.P. 3. Flowrate(depend on feed water quality.. i want to learn more about water treatment, im from philppines currently working here in qatar..
I have experienced in RO,recycling RO. De-ionized and ultra de ionized system,MBBR,MBR,conventional wwtp...Chemical waste(H2o2)using mmbr we neutralized h2o2 by using sodium sulphite.
Hi. How to perform a concentrate rinse or water brushing on a 3 pressure vessel, 10,000 liters per hour RO system? Is it safe? The system uses well water.
Thanks Mariano, We have a live Hands-On Seminar on 9/26/2017 - 9/28/2017 in Farmington, NM, USA. You can see it on our seminar schedule page at www.dhptraining.com/scheduled-seminars.html
Awesome detailed information have been in filtration supplies business for over 2.5 decades but never worked on membranes now have plans to open new dept with qualified persons and try selling RO units but before enter this business need complete training kindly advise .
While chemical cleaning make sure that water pass on product or permeate line u can adjust it in reject valve, coz some of membranes are hard scaling and water not pass in product line,.u can adjust it in reject valve.
My current company only CIP by HCl and EDTA but apart from each other. My previous company was CIP twice (acid and alkaline), with citric acid, STTP and EDTA, PC67. How effective? Thank you.
Now we are using genesol 40 for cleaning , its potassium hydroxide, If we use Sodium hydroxide is it clean the RO or it will damage the membrane??? Please

To Adjust pH yes you can add HCl to citric acid but the pH limits of the membrane manufacturer HAS to be followed. So in other words if the manufacturer has a low pH limit of 2.0 and after adding citric the cleaning solution is at 3.0 pH it would be safe to add enough HCl to lower the pH to 2.0 but not lower than that. Hope this helps.
One of the most informative presentation on cleaning RO membranes. Must watch.
Thanks, the best video on cleaning RO membranes I found

It is considered safe to add hydrochloric acid to citric acid while washing the membranes????
