Until the first cutscene kicked in I was still convinced that the ''youkais'' were just Kids that Yoimiya hangs out with in masks and they were tricking us with saying they are Youkais

Lesson learned: it's always dangerous when Ayato and Yae are the ones planning for something
Well, lesson 2; lesson 1 was Irodori Festival

Rather than it being dangerous, it is more like they enjoy using roundabout schemes for otherwise simple things.
In Irodori, they could have just told Kazuha about Scaramouche, but they made a multi-part riddle to get everyone to work together. And the same thing happens here, where they could just tell everyone about the youkai, but they chose to make a huge event so that the youkai could play with humans. Nothing really dangerous either times, and their intentions were ultimately good, but damn they love their schemes lol
Lol it’s kind of odd when you realize Ayaka’s story is the only accurate here lol
Jessie and James might not be in the anime anymore... this is because Yae and Ayato stole there jobs.

Fun fact is that if you chose Kazuha to be your partner, he's the only one who recognizes Ei and makes a point to not go saying it's probably best for them to not meet lol.

Yae and Ayato having major Jessie and James scheming energy at the end of this event (though I lowkey enjoyed seeing them openly talking about their love of mutual scheming/roundabout planning)

Unlike the past archon quest interlude where he got knocked out, but kudos for him for giving the gang a way out

Also I like that when meeting Ei he actually checks who that friend is and then goes away saying he doesn't want to complicate the atmosphere
Kazuha is great. i ended up picking Ayaka because she's my favorite character but damn I was really tempted on picking Kazuha. Ayaka was sabotaging us the whole time telling ghost stories to Paimon XD

Legit I love how pure and simple Yoimiya's philosophy is - fireworks and life is special because of their temporal nature. Every firework dies, every year passes - bringing us to a dark and quiet finale. But the memories, the sentiments and beauty of those moments, they have a permanence to them that give these things purpose and meaning. They're why Yoimiya loves fireworks - she's an artist that helps people make memories and enjoy their lives. She really lives through her craft. I think the way they execute her character is really well-done
playing these events peacefully while hoyo tries to make you contemplate about life on earth and death kinda wish i was build like itto fr head empty only vibes and catching fish

Well these two went for a ramen off, Itto won, but sadly he was bedridden due to severe allergic reaction. Yae did paid for the bowl
Paimon and Itto interaction is one of my favorite things. Usually Paimon is the one being stupid but then Itto comes along and she's actually somewhat rational fore once. So funny. It's also what gave me life during the Perilous Trail quest

That "I understand what you mean" response at the end makes me wonder how many friends the Traveler has had to say goodbye to before reaching Teyvat.
Worse still, the amount of friends he has to let go after we complete Teyvat chapter is going to be possibly even more
I wonder if hoyo makes a festival for the traveler's passing that gathers every character into an area mad that would be crowded as heck

I still wish to know what was going on with the Traveler way before they fished Paimon out of the sea. I can only imagine how lonely and frightening their wake-up call must have been.
Interestingly, Chizuru relates to Ei. Isolating herself for the sake of emotional damage of people leaving.

Kokomi's lack of presence in recent patches may be because her Japanese Voice Actress wasn't available for recording due to her giving birth in August 2022.
Hope she have more presence in next year

you know this quest made me realize how one day granny, kuki, the members of the gang, ayato, thoma, sara, yoimiya basically all of itto's friends will be gone and the itto will only have takuya left
Sara is a pure blooded Tengu so he'll always have his rival; assuming she doesn't get slain too early in battle somehow.

Reagrding the mask, in Japan they actually depict youkai as beings in human form wearing various masks of different images because Youkai tend to blend in with humans during festivals. that's why it's popular in japanese festivals to sell masks.
I was honestly so torn as to who to partner up with the first round but then Kazuha basically said he joined the test just to see us again so I had to pick him it was just so sweet

Don't forget Kaeya! Kaeya and Rosaria also seem to have this dynamic, but it's a bit more subtle, IMO.

OH in the first custcene, one of the old friends of Ei and Makoto (the kitsune yokai) is seen in the background! I want to know more about their personalities and dynamics like the Yaksha family...

I love this event just because Itto finally met Gorou. Now I wonder when Yae Miko will make Ms. Hina finally appear from what she said in Irodori Festival😏and the cherry on top would obv be Itto finally meeting both people that makes him feel both comfy, warm and fuzzy inside 😌💕

Chizuru sounds so raspy in english VA. I get that she's supposed to be weakened and on her last legs, but... everyone should know the joy of JP Chizuru and her gently soft voice like that of a shy girl trying to be scary.
That is basically a situation where both versions interpret the scene differently, but both hit the mark.

If you listen closely, she also gets softer in that scene. All dubs did that
I switched to KR dub by the final moment you speak with her cuz I couldn't stand the raspiness at that point anymore. KR voice was very pleasant to me, very refined but a hint of tiredness in her voice.
It is interesting to have Itto and Gorou near each other due to them being rather close parallels
Gorou's Hangout has a nice little strand where he bravely decides to battle wits with Yae Miko.

The whole thing must have hit close at home but we dont really see anything about this in the game. Mihoyo and their impied lore xD

I wasn't expecting much from this event but Hoyo really blew me away with this.
I was low key expecting you to get Kazuha but instead you picker wheel'd and got Gorou.

Unpopular opinion: While i don't like the Paimon overshadows the Traveler and does too much exposition, she's actually grown on me and I like her a lot.

So, from what I remember of japanese folklore--mind you, I'm no expert--many if not all Youkai can disguise themselves as humans but it's really difficult for them and they almost always leave some kind of tell that gets stronger when they exert themselves. Like how Yae's ears are normally visible but when she uses burst her eyes shift and her tails pop out, and how Sara's wings pop out when she uses her burst as well and she can't stand too close to people because her wings are just invisible, not gone (according to her voice line). Both kitsuni and tengu are considered on the strong end of youkai from what I remember. So for a bunch of youkai kids, looking like some kids in dollar store costumes of themselves while they're using all their power to make a walk in arcade game kinda tracks.
I've quit Genshin almost 2 months ago. So thankful to bwaap for making me experience these events second hand. That way, i won't be clueless of some things when i get back.
Interestingly the story also foreshadow as the traveler is nearly immortal every character would likely die leaving traveler alone in the future
