  • Welcome to the Aves Libre Project, an inclusive community carnival troupe brought to life by IMPACD CIC and supported by Arts Council England. This project united people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds to create stunning costumes, music, and dance for the Nottingham Caribbean Carnival 2024. With a focus on accessibility and inclusion, our troupe celebrated the rich history of the Spanish-speaking Caribbean islands, using 100% upcycled and recycled materials to preserve our environment.
Throughout the workshops, we created a joyful, creative space where everyone could explore movement, art, and connection. From costume making to drumming, participants embraced their own unique styles and talents, forming a truly diverse and vibrant community.
The project exceeded our expectations, with overwhelming feedback from participants, artists, and viewers alike. We are proud to have reached over 3,000 carnival-goers and have been featured on East Midlands news programmes.
Looking ahead, we’re planning even bigger and more imaginative projects for next year! Stay tuned for more exciting updates as we continue to celebrate creativity, culture, and community.
