Finally able to sit down and comment. Thank you for this video. I’m heading back to Ecuador to visit Cuenca since I didn’t make it there when I visited in November due to the black outs (I was on the coast). I’ve been keeping a list of restaurants to visit from your videos. That Thai place sounds amazing, I’d love to know where to get a great burger too.
I’m a little different. Since I’ve owned my home for so long, many of the prices sound expensive to me. I have no idea how much rent is at home since I’ve not rented. I’m actually going to end up raising my cost of housing since I’ll have to pay something for the first time in a very long time. But I’m still looking forward to moving out of the U.S. I feel peaceful and stress free when I’m in Ecuador.
I hope to meet you two when I visit. Or at least to have a chat. Thanks for your videos.

I'm from Quito, but I have lived in Madrid since 2001. Spaniards, in general, are happy with tourism, and they know that tourism is what keeps this country afloat. It's only a group of "Marxists" who think they should be able to live in the city center for 2 dollars or even for free, and blame everyone but themselves for their misery. It's not Spain as a whole.
The situation is that many wealthy Hispanics and other Europeans are buying property in Spain, and the government is not freeing up land to build more. As a result, demand has skyrocketed, and without new buildings, prices are rising very quickly.
In Ecuador, since we are almost invisible to the world, most people are very happy when others come to Ecuador. The only way to get pushback is if you openly talk badly about Ecuador.
Thanks so much for that perspective, it's always good to hear from someone who has first hand knowledge.
So no politics. I was always told politics and religion never discussed them.. 😂
