It’s amazing value for money. The “global” tracks are the killer feature IMHO. They make it a portable songwriter’s studio. The only thing I think is missing is MIDI export. I would like to write stuff on the SmplTrek but then move it a DAW where I can play the tracks on VSTs that give me more sound design options.
Its awesome and I have mpc live mk 1 and force n a room full of kit! But this just putting a drum sample on say on scene one n triggering n pitching per step is sooouch fun and inspiring...so easy to use, and different sample per scene plus err LATEST UPDATE 😁🙌🙌
That was really helpful and straight to the important points. The export feature is what stands out to me and brings it above the op-z (which I love) for me. And ouf course direkt mic and guitar into the unit is another big thing. You are really right, it definitely is for songwriters. Most devices are for sound design or drum sequenzing, but this really is something else.
Really like your demo track!. Can you sync recording a global track with midi sync? , for example if I want to record an external synth when I press play
Dang... This is actually very enticing for me. Seems really great for getting song ideas out quickly, which to me is a completely different mental process than sample chopping, even though my results seems similar to sample chop beat making. I LOVE SCENES/CLIPS haha. And apparently you can work outside of quantization now? Time sig change and non quantize are essential for me. If it satisfies those, I might get this instead of the Sp404mk2 to pair with my SX.
It's got a LOT going on for it, absolutely. It's very different from the SP404mk2 though, as this is much more of a songwriting device instead of a beatmaking device.
Great stuff as usual! Just to throw IT out there, as i wasn't sure if you were aware from your intro: on Shot & Loop tracks, you can have a different loop or one-shot per scene operating on the same track! So you can really mix things up across many scenes, as we are NOT limited to whatever one-shot or loop came in the first clip in a given project! 😍🤙🤙🌌
Great video. Would love to see a step by step building of a song. The workflow is not very intuitive, I’m struggling. Also is it me or are the a lack of instruments. I was hoping to have a lot of sounds to start out with. I’m don’t have a vast sample library and seems I will have to spend days creating instruments I can use. The actual synths sounds that came you it are few and far between. I downloaded the octopus sounds too and still not a lot. I see many videos and they seem to have great sounds. My unit only has a limited amount of useable instruments. Am I missing some??
Great Content as always. But I was wondering, if you will change your music in the end of every video? My suggestion would be to open up this spot for your patreons. Maybe you could play a short snippet of a track of one of your patreons to give them a chance to be heard. What do you think?
Quick question on the smpltrek front - it's solely sample-based. Right? No synth engines onboard? Because this seems like an almost perfect backpack piece of gear for me. Pack it with a set of headphones and maybe spare batteries (or USB power if it takes it) and jam wherever. That workflow seems amazing!
Great overview! I want a Smpltrek now. Since you have the Smpltrek, I have a couple questions about it: I wonder if it can stream straight from an SD card, like the 1010 Blackbox will. Surco(a TH-cam creator) uses his 1010 solely to play longer, more atmospheric samples from, so maybe I could do the same by having all 10 tracks on the Smpltrek be one-shot tracks. Also, if the Smpltrek has no upper limit on the size or length of samples in a one-shot track, maybe I could use it to play an entire live set from, if it's just 10 songs. Any info greatly appreciated.
Smpltrek streams audio from the SDcard, i believe you can have ten tracks play 10 different single shot samples, not sure about the upper length limit. That info can be found in the manual on Sonicware website.
next killer feature would be for the smpltrek to have basic filter and LFO on instrument tracks and the ability to hanle single cycle waveforms, and then it becomes a synth ;)
I just got my unit and noticed that it is not possible to launch clips from different scenes but only from the current one at a time, so it's absolutely not like Ableton in my opinion.
@GearAddict90210 Yes I agree. I got mine and was hoping for that feature. That feature is what sets ableton apart from other 'Song Mode' feature on every other device.
@@TrickmanTerry which of these are portable, being able to play them standalone while laying in bed(at night) and generally usable where-ever im at? phone/sd as source.. built in speaker when tired of headphones... etc., thanks

I like this SmplTrek series. I love the way it presents a topic, easy to understand and digestible,

Really digging the latest update, thanks Sonicware!
Yeah it's awesome!
this is amazing and just what i wanted, great video as well thanks for the tutorial
Functions like a portable Roland MV-1. Very cool
I haven't tried the MV-1 yet but I do see some similarities!
Its so easy to use n EPIC😁😂🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌 IS IT JUST ME?? I LOVE THIS THING!
You aren't the only one.
Thank you so much as always!!🥰
Thanks for the SmplTrek! I'm loving it so far :)
Thanks man, look forward to more videos…….I was wondering how the looper works. Overall thanks for sharing.
It's very cool but since I have a Deluge I'll be sticking with that!

What's the point of or advantage of using one shot tracks if you have Drum tracks?
I like how it can clip launch individual clips
Its just fast n fun ..you can't explain that unless you know .....n that for me is everything 😉🙌

I actually have something coming up very soon that addresses this! Stay tuned!
Super helpful video!
Really like the track you made with it
Thanks!

yes sample based, but with some synths samples loaded you can play them chromatically and polyphonic

@@xgmode The manual says the maximum size of a single sample is 180 minutes or 2gb. I guess that means it'll stream a sample that size.
The smpletrek is really nice. The more i use it the more i love it.
John from food wishes but for music
Haha wow what a compliment!
We are in 2023 can music production company start using better screen please ? And use mobile wireless as screen if you want to be kind too
The screen is sharp in person, but I know some folks find it too small.
The Tracker screen is pretty great.
The screen is fine, else get an iPad. Or have both like I do.
This tool is for Hobbit, for human get a Polyend Tracker with a bigger screen !
I know a lot of folks think that the screen is too small, but it's pretty good for me haha, I don't mind it!
@@FreeBeat you are a hobbit ? Some news from Gandalf ?
😁🙌🌟💗

But it's still not great for hip-hop producers
Maybe not, but there's TONS of hardware that already is.
maybe, but it's nice to finally have a device suited for all the other genres...
