Great show !! TO is awesome !! Coastal Waves and Wires Walt has the NEW G90 and has video's on it on his youtube channel. The Smokin APE has the NEW G90 as well and has video's on his youtube as well. 73
G90 is one great affordable tuff little radio with a great antenna tuner built in… got mine a few years back for $399.00 and never regretted it… I have lent it out to a few fellow hams who had no money for a radio…
Ordered mine six weeks ago from Amazon, got the new one, powerpoles and fan. Ordered it With the DE-19. Trying to use SSB with the G90 in the sun made me run out and buy the fan sled. FT-8 would have been a non-starter.
Regarding the G-90 from Radiooditty, The first one I purchased had a horrible clicking sound whenever you changed bands and also frequencies . It was the older version without the Anderson Power Poles. Add to that it looked like a return as there was a pretty good sized scratch on the case. OK, I sent it back and they sent me another one. Exact same issues, older unit and this one was definitely used or a refurb, even though I paid for a new unit. I sent that one back too and they gave me a full refund. I have to admit I was a bit disappointed as I really wanted one of these rigs. In the meantime I'll be using one of my Yaesu FT-100D's for POTA until I decide if I want to get a Yaesu FT-891 or 991A. I'm leaning towards the 991A but holding off to see if any sales are better for Black Friday. Lastly, as a commenter said during your live chat, Radiooditty will remove any negative reviews. I left a review that wasn't horrible and even mentioned I appreciated that they gave me a full refund very quickly and that review is gone.
@@skepticalmechanic After watching a slew of comparison videos I decided to go with the FT-710 Field as I already have a few 2m and 440 radios. Radio is ordered and will be here in a few days.
Kinda stuck right now trying to decide between the Yaesu Ft891 and the Xiegu G90. For digital, phone, and cw, which would really be the way to go? Really trying to stay under $700.
I had the same problem deciding and I went with the G90. Main reason was the built in tuner and better waterfall. Tuner with FT-891 is pushing $1000. Might as well get the FT-710 if you want a Yaesu.
Xiegu, Radioddity, Ailunce, TYT, any manufacturers or sellers could tap an underserved market and solve a chicken and egg problem with a 25- or 50-watt radio that includes these bands: 10, 8 for Europe, 6, 4 also for Europe, 2, and 1.25 meters for North America, all mode including connections for FT8 and other digital modes. The big 3 don't have this, Alinco doesn't have this. What will it take for one or two of these transceivers to go from unicorn status to in my shack? Brian W2BMT
Cheap radios. Cheap construction. Mystery random breakages/faults. No thanks. I'll spend more money on reliable, well-built stuff. Just say no to Chinese garbage.
You really don’t know what you’re talking about. Do you own one? I do… have had it for over two years… used it and abused it… still going strong… I have put that G90 through hell and back and it’s still going strong… it’s built a lot better than an ic-705 at $1,300…
I have at least seven cheap Chinese radios. They all work great and are meant to be handed out during emergencies. My RT-95 scans and transmits on all the freqs of radios people tend to have lying around, except CB, so thank God for Chinese junk.
I love that the latest G90s being shipped now have an Anderson Powerpole connector for power. No more flimsy little white connector.

I received the new version when I won a G90 in Radioddity's 12the Anniversary raffle.
Man, so jealous! I had a few tickets in that! How many did you buy?
@@anthonylwalker I bought 10 tickets. The luck of the Irish turns out to be good every now and then.
Keeping my Icom 703+ for QRP backup.
Perfect timing on this vid..our whole club has been looking into and ordering the g90...
Great show. Love the channel
Waiting for Japan's Big Four to release a G90 competitor.
Me too.
The sled seems to be agnostic, it has either connector for the power cable and then powerpoles on the wire that outputs to to the radio.

The 991a is a lot bigger than the 891 but the 991a has a built in tuner and 2m and 440… only bad thing is the 991a tuner will only tune 3-1

@eem3iii Wow I wasn't even considering the tuner. Thats a great point, thanks!
So if the G90 has a power pole it has a fan?
G90 hands down and X-5105 right after that.
G90 is a winner.

Maybe with 70 cm also instead of 10 m, or why not both?

I take it back. My Motorola FRS radios are all made in China too. That's 20 cheap Chinese radios that work great.
I respectfully disagree. I can’t comment on the Baofeng radios, but I can say the Xiegu G90 is a workhorse. No issues whatsoever.
