I love how you lay out the steps for parents on how to move themselves back up to an executive state after they get triggered. I have cptsd, so where I struggle is being able to take the time to feel my feelings, because it feels dangerous to pause like that. I go straight from trigger, to fight flight freeze fawn very quickly... and it is difficult to remember that the threat of danger isn't real anymore. I guess I'm telling you this because I was trying to work out why I was skeptical at first that I would be able to follow those steps. Just imagining it gives me anxiety. But, I appreciate your video and the fact that you're sharing the steps to move ourselves back into an executive state because it gave me a chance to identify something that I'm doing. And now that I know, I can work on improving.

We did this with our son. He proceeded to dump the water over and over. Eventually I was irritated and took his cup away. Then we started over the next day and we were patiently trying to let him try again. Then he dumped water all over the floor twice before I stopped him. 😅 We are trying to use these recommendations but we definitely have a child that likes to push limits in everything.
