My wife noticed I was eyeing this radio on Amazon and surprised me with it this week. The unboxing and initial learning was an absolute joyful experience. First off, the sound is amazing considering the size. The look and build of it is perfect and it's compact size is ideal to transport from room to room for on the go listening. Did I mention - LIGHTS!! Wonderful, colorful lights that blink along to the music! About 4 hrs after the unboxing I loaded the app on my iPhone and the extended experience added another layer. It displayed the song titles from mp3 songs playing off the SD card (one of my few initial feature disappointments). The app also provides the ability to record music off the radio. How cool is that!! The biggest and most interesting takeaway of this radio is it is FUN. Fill an SD card with your favorite songs and tune into your local radio stations and you have everything you need in a modern radio. IMHO it is the radio of the year. Definitely the radio of the summer. Highly recommended!!
Finally, a multi functional radio that looks as good as it performs. I bet they are going to sell a lot of these...Ali Express has these for under 70 bucks labeled as the HRD-A320. Thanks TB!
This has the same styling as radios such as the National Panasonic GX400 - I'd love to see a "Pro" version, same size and heft as a GX400 with a rotating AM ferrite antenna and SSB too (oh and no soft muting!)
This is my favorite radio. I own some of the best, and I still love them, but I love this radio sooooo much that I bought a second one. I live in West Michigan right on the shore of Lake Michigan. On 10/111/23 at about 2 AM I found the most AM station ever, even from Boston. This radio sounds Incredible!
Watched this video about a year ago. Decided to buy one. After a Year of power outages diue to a hurricane and other weather this thing has kept going without a complaint. It was a great review then. I just rewatched it. Stil a great video. I have a lot of the batteries and keep them charged. When the power in the house goes out, I am the only one that can listen to a radio for weather, etc.. You would think the FM stations would be hardened against storms here. Not so. I have a couple of emergency wind up radios but they only last a short while. This thing is great. I am buying another to have on the boat as not to drain the boats battery using the onboard battery.
Todderbert: One more comment, I received 720 KHZ WGN from my QTh in Tucson , Arizona with help from the TREK loop. I listened to it about a hour before going back inside. It really came in about 2130 my time or 2330 yours. I did not expect to hear it , especially with nearby thunder storms. It is turning into a MW DX machine at night. Take care and 73!.

Hi, what is the name of the app that I can download from the App Store that enables me to use the radio ? I would welcome your reply ( it seems a v good feature )
I can get them inside my home. Using just a simple wire up in my blinds downstairs. Does well, better on my external Kaito T-1 that is strung outside to my small balcony.
I would also love to have one of these. You can probably get away with putting a wire antenna around an outside window. I always listen outside away from my house because of all the RF noise. A corner of the basement is somewhat of a quiet sweet spot. Outside of that, I go to a far corner of my backyard and throw a 10 meter length of wire over a fence and connect it to the antenna output on my radio. This usually works well.
Order from their website with my $15USD off code. MW should be enabled. You can change it to 9kHz by using the Sub Band Button when the Power is Off, and the Clock is Showing.

If you know it is a legit shortwave transmission, it is most likely Brother Stair's Recordings on multiple frequencies. Otherwise see if it is a medium wave station breaking through, it happens on some radios.
TF Card. You have to use the app to start/stop recording..not happy about that. Though the ZhiWhis Model says it can record directly on the radio, without the app, using a certain button combination. That is awesome.

I pick up tons, with a scanner..since transmissions are usually short. This radio doesn't scan, so you try to find an active frequency to listen to. The Raddy has no trouble sensitivity wise. Plus I filmed this at night when air traffic is low.

Depends. If you need SSB, then get the Tecsun PL-330, PL-660/680, or the Sihuadon D-808. The RF320 is quirky but useful. I like the fact it has SW, AIR, VHF, and WX Alert. Recording is excellent as well, but I hope in the future they add a dedicated record button so it is not too App dependent.
The Retekess TR112 looks identical but costs a lot more and is supposed to be new ... what is going on there me wonder's? 6:37 that's like the Retekess TR111 but lest costly! Seems like Retekess are rip off merchants.
Want to know the weird thing I DONT like on current radio's? Esp. for Emergency types..Is a DIGITAL OR ANY LIT UP DISPLAY that you cant turn off the light. MOST times it will take more power, then the rest of the system. Esp the Computer type ones.
You can set the back, dial, audio spectrum LEDs to Off all the time. The LCD has an Auto Five Second timeout, or always on. The current draw from that single led is small.
@@todderbert But, as something that can be left on, the more items ON, the less time you will get on battery power. Try it in a car on a winter day(cold battery) leave the light on, inside. You have a 90% chance in the morning, IT WONT START. A Huge battery taken out by 1 LED based light. Everyone has forgotten the Old Mechanical dials and Such, that NOW days can take Less power compared to Small computers Inside that ALWAYS eat power. thne use a Small LED light on a side to let you see Only when pushed..Would be wonderful and Last longer. Plz understand, Im from the days of Walkie/talkie taking 12 aa batteries and not lasting more then 30 min, and had a 6' antenna. I also understand computers and DIGITAL displays.. all take abit of power, and with Current tech, can we go back to the old style, that should be able to last TONS longer then it did back then.
Anyone else experiencing a "clicking" when they're listening to MW? It's as regular as a metronome. It comes and goes, but it's fairly regular. IOW, it's THERE, more than it's not. It's disappointing, because other than that, this is a GREAT sounding radio. Unfortunately, that annoying tick ruins the listening experience, which essentially renders the radio unusable for me.
OK, so never mind. Turns out that an electric box fan puts out a pretty fair amount of "rhythmic" electromagnetic interference. LOL I'm blown away by how great MW talk radio, baseball games etc. sound on this radio. Honestly, the sound quality blows my C Crane EP Pro away (to be sure, I'm talking about sound quality, NOT reception) for locals...

Neat Radio but surprised it has a micro sd slot but no record function. It also can play Flac files. Interesting.
He said it has record function using the app on your phone.
@@chrislj2890 Thanks.

You betcha Steve, I'm from Ohio also.
It does fairly clean recordings in MP2 format, odd I know. 160kbps/44.1kHz
I'm known as el-cheapo.
If I could get it for $40 it would be a win.
Maybe get its baby bro :) yeah, this would rock at $40, but it has quite a bit of tech. The lowest I see this going is around the $60 mark.
Mine gets bad reception on AM !
That’s a first for me.
Anyone else have this problem?
❤ Awesome 👏
Cool
Wow. Well thats a good bit of information thank you. Ron z. WA3090SWL.
I got this radio a couple of weeks ago the only I dislike it easy to fall over.
The Retekess TR112 looks identical but costs a lot more and is supposed to be new ... what is going on there me wonder's? 6:37 that's like the Retekess TR111 but lest costly! Seems like Retekess are rip off merchants.
I only have USB C at my bed. I use adapters to convert lightning, micro, and mini to C whenever I need that.
The MRESteve of radio.
Is there any Radio that has those features that DOES NOT NEED A APP and isn't as large as a couch ???
Anyone else experiencing a "clicking" when they're listening to MW? It's as regular as a metronome. It comes and goes, but it's fairly regular. IOW, it's THERE, more than it's not. It's disappointing, because other than that, this is a GREAT sounding radio. Unfortunately, that annoying tick ruins the listening experience, which essentially renders the radio unusable for me.
OK, so never mind. Turns out that an electric box fan puts out a pretty fair amount of "rhythmic" electromagnetic interference. LOL
I'm blown away by how great MW talk radio, baseball games etc. sound on this radio. Honestly, the sound quality blows my C Crane EP Pro away (to be sure, I'm talking about sound quality, NOT reception) for locals...
I'll wait til it can make a good waffle.
Im holding out for pasta making...🙂
A thing :) th-cam.com/video/pBb4dN_eeAc/w-d-xo.html
Someone mentioned you have to download the ap from some sketchy Chinese website. Malware alert.
I got mine for the Apple Store. Not sure if they check the apps or not.
