Walter Rodney is an invaluable source for imperialism and colonialism in Africa. His books partly fill my living room, but any comrade new to him should start with 'How Europe Underdeveloped Africa.'
I know it isn't talked about as much, but 'How Europe Underdeveloped Africa' is without a doubt one of the most important texts in regards to understanding 20th century imperialism.
This shit is awesome. This + Mao is getting me out of my Imperial Core take on Marxism-Leninism. Effective analysis of conditions is becoming a very important part of my musings of late. Thanks!!!
Wasn't he assassinated by a bomb placed in a walkie talkie given to him while in his car by a member of the Guyana's defense force named Gregory Smith?
Hey I was wondering if it would be possible for you to read some of Kwame Nkrumah's works? Specifically "The Challenge of the Congo" because even though PDFs of it are hard to find (I've found them before on Anna's Archive), it's one of the best texts to understand NATO intervention and Western imperialism in the country and its implications on the DRC today. Love your content as per usual. ❤ :)
@Socialism for All I know this is off topic but, My brother is thinking about starting a small business and eventually hiring employees, I told him he should either allow them to have partial ownership or pay them the same amount as himself to be as fair as possible
That's good that you suggested it, and you could send him info from something like USworker.coop for more details, but the overwhelming majority of capitalists aren't going to willingly do that. Where co-ops are set up, it's either workers coming together to do it or to buy out their retiring employer so that they can keep their jobs.
Hi, yes. I usually put it in the video description but missed it on this one. Not a PDF but HTML: www.marxists.org/subject/africa/rodney-walter/works/marxismandafrica.htm
Hi, Have you studied decolonial Marxism? The idea that colonization is the primary contradiction and capitalism/imperialism and the class struggle are built upon it? And, if you really want to be true, then the indigenous peoples of the western hemisphere should own the means of production?
I definitely appreciate Walter Rodney contributions, no doubt. However it appears that Mr Rodney misunderstood John's argument on John 1:1... "In the beginning, was the word and the word was with God and was God"... So many people confuse the Hebrews Bible with bourgeois thought. Even the concept of God... people default into bourgeoisie interpretation...and the concepts of western "religion" it's a pity... So many comment on, or make claims on the Hebrew text, but have never studied it and in many cases have never read the book, especially in its entirety... but are willing to stress strong opinions on it. That's not good, nor scientific. However
