+XamVolo vitornisk is right, when you sing smoothly from one note to another and another instrument is hitting each note (keys in this case) it cauess the voice to sound like its hitting each note when actually its just a smooth descending from the top to bottom note. sounds awesome though!!!

Can't you hear it sounds as if the whole beat goes off for less than a second? Listen to what the drums do. I am sure it's on purpose, just curious what it is.
This is just Hiatus Kaiyote showing off a bit of their musical flare and talent. I may not be exactly correct but it sounds like they are hitting the triplet(could also be a 32nd note) just before the last count of the bar. You can hear that it is not only the drums hitting this notation, but the entire band as well with staccato notes.
If you are interested in exactly what happens in this song you should check The 80/20 drummer lesson about it. He talks about it deeply. And you can check out his video about "Dilla" groove, it's in this area of music I guess, maybe you'll like it.

There are parts where he literally slows down the bpm and you guys can defend it all you like but There are a lot of imperfections in this performance including the badly pitched guitar.
