To me, it’s absolutely okay to want to do something else. The problem though Is talking trash about others for having a certain sense of humor Like idubbbz and h3h3 and act all high and mighty for not having a dark sense of humor. Imagine, if the creators of its always sunny or aqua teen hunger force shamed you for finding their shows funny 10 years later. Or, if oneyplays James Rolfe or jontron shamed you for finding their videos funny after they’ve been enlightened about edgy humor.
And then went on to be super successful at something else he was passionate about, music, which isn't easy. Tons of good musicians out there who will never get a break. He did it without most even realizing his "true" identity. Some people just have *"it"* , ya know? Dude is a baller
I had no idea what was going on with Corpse. I followed him way back when he made horror story videos and creepypasta content. I still looove the little nod to Donnie Darko in his icon. I unfollowed him when he primarily started making Among Us content and I had no idea the stress he was going through. All of this unnecessary stress and anguish he goes through amongst a crowd of obsessive fans is terrifying for sure and not to mention embarrassing. It also makes people who "Kin" him (fucking bonkers) that much more offensive imo.
I started listening to his creepypastas when he had, like, 3K subscribers. Like you I bowed out with the Among Us content. I just figured the genre was running its course, and he was getting bored with it. He'd mention his health from time to time and I've worried since PewDiePie. I hope he at least made a ton of money, and that people leave him alone.
He just went to do something else, clean. He didn't try to speak on a pedestal to his former fanbase saying what degenerates they are. He just left and did his passion. As much as I miss it I'm happy for him. I will cherish Frank
What Corpse went through was just downright sad man. Fuck those haters, seriously. Jealously and hate and a lack of talent can really lead you to do some repulsive shit.

Yeah his original fanbase was wayyy more chill. Mostly focusing on the actual stories and vibing. (Some weirdos ofc but thats the internet) after he blew up, the amount of stalkers, creeps and literal children that sexualized him 🤢 it was awful. The comments went from a small horror loving community to just sexualized comments and weirdos. People are so rude/ callous about it too, drives me crazy because nobody deserves that
Joji survived because he was HONEST with his viewers/fanbase. He told us: This character is effecting my health. And he wanted to be a musician. And He's an amazing artist- musician! Joji wasnt lying, he had to start taking his health seriously. he worked hard & built his amazing music career. I respect him for that. I love his music so much.
@@ImAtYourMumsHousewhat he's doing is basically virtue signalling and cringe-old-style TH-cam apologia to a fanbase that never cancelled him for anything he's done in the past, the opposite even. Point is, virtue signalling is almost always a case of someone saying roses and tulips out of his mouth just to feel better about himself condemning the most common thing out there like terrorism. It's not an act of honesty, it's an act of narcissism
@@mjanny6330 For idubbbz? No, it's not impossible. If he realises how he's alienated everyone for the sake of Anisa's BPD pussy and divorces her, he could make a comeback. Getting rid of Anisa and the whole LA culture he's become a part of with H3H3 and sucking up to breadtubers is what needs to change.
'Throat tissue damage'. Firstly, great Grindr profile name. The FF voice was something that always struck me as super hard to do and now I know it was. Also the 'you're people of culture' when people who loved his FF stuff even when he's said he doesn't enjoy it anymore is a touch of class and a sign of a great entertainer. It's remarkable to see someone that acknowledges where he came from very tastefully no matter how offensive it may have been received.
As a singer I always knew that voice was doing damage, I used to use a similar technique to scream and stopped cause it was unhealthy. When he quit I wondered if his voice was part of it and was not surprised to see that it was.
George absolutely deserves the acclaim and success his music career has brought him, even if it meant putting an end to such an influential and popular online character. It also shows his integrity and appreciation for the fanbase he accrued that he gave Frank an actual sendoff instead of just dumping the project and acting bitter and resentful towards old fans.
To this day, I only associate Silhouette to FilthyFrank's farewell and not as a Naruto opening. I didn't really watch his channel very much prior to this (notably because I was still relatively new to English TH-cam) but I still know how big of a deal that was and I felt nostalgic for things that I only just discovered
His music is mid and boring. Just more boring sad rap shit for kids who are just learning that life isn't perfect. As if doing rap, the most overrated slop of the music industry wasn't bad enough, he goes the route of making trashy stuff meant for kids and adult children who complain that life isn't always ups.
I feel really bad for corpse. The intense sexualization of him and insane obsession with his life was really weird. I miss when he was just a horror story youtuber I would watch in middle school. Some of you need to learn some real empathy Jesus Christ.
Idk, when I heard the part about him cutting himself bc he had to play among us, that just seems like one of those Tyler the creator moments ya know, remember when he said “cyber bullying doesn’t exist if you close the screen”. Like bro if you don’t wanna do this, don’t do it, sounds like he’s forcing himself to do it, doesn’t want to, but needs the revenue stream at that point. Should we all feel bad bc he has thousands of people donating to him per day, or bc he can’t handle pressure?
and nothing has changed at all. this will happen again and again until social media is fundamentally changed in some way, which is unlikely to happen by itself and will probably result as a consequence of something changing the internet as a whole. a relatively small group of people have turned a good thing into an objective blight on humanity and there's no going back on it.
He brought it upon himself. He knew women were attracted to his voice and played up that aspect by avataring as a delicate but dark anime dude. And it definitely paid off. Not saying he deserved it, just saying that playing with certain aspects of your persona has its consequences; good and bad. He definitely played up the sexualization aspect because he knew it was working with his female audience. This was by no means an accident or unintended result.
Same girl. Once my epilepsy started, it turned my whole world upside down. Until I got it under control, I could never predict when my brain was just gonna press the reset button. Its awful to deal with.
I actually met Corpse back when he was a narrator. I work for MrCreepyPasta and was invited to his wedding along with other creepypasta narrators. He was very quiet, but really sweet. I apologize when he revealed that he had a medical condition. He seemed surprised and said thank you. I felt so bad that he deals with stalkers and creeps.

Ian was so powerful that the only one to bring idubbz down was idubbz himself. And his TikTok loving girlfriend. What’s even funnier is he made Sam mainstream popular and killed off his own career. I love Sam Hyde now, when I was afraid of him before. And Sam seems to genuinely want to help idubbz but Anissa constantly gets in the way of that.
I still am am idubbz fan, I just ignored all the conflict creator drama BS. I could care less about that kind of thing lol. Should I check out Sam, is he funny? Is my question to you
This video also fails to point out that Sam knew the doc was going to be a slanderous hit piece from the start, so he ruined it by simultaneously going so over-the-top bizarre that it would make Ian's doc look fake while also killing Ian with kindness the entire time. He had the fake content-creation writer's room and the fake edgy drug addict girlfriend all to sort of exaggerate his own perception of Ian, and showered Ian with gifts that he knew would get dumped in the trash unceremoniously. And the cherry on top was that he caught Ian admitting the entire thing was to destroy Sam, and then releasing the footage before Ian could release the doc. Considering Ian's profuse apology about the existence of Content Cop, it made him come off like a massive hypocrite.
god i love filthy frank.... his content in a way was so helpful during such a depressing and lonely period of my life. Even now i rewatch some of his stuff and it entertains me a lot. Miss him to this day. One of the best
I feel so horrible for Corpse, so much so that I wouldn’t care if he disappeared from the public forever for the sake of his health and safety. My only hope is that he is surrounded by people who love and support him, and that the crazed “fans” and anti-fans are kept far, FAR away from him.
I'm one of those OG corpse husband fans, and while I was happy to see his stuff pop off thanks to his music and among us, I can't help but feel saddened seeing the lack of horror content. Now it looks like he hasn't uploaded in a year or more. Praying the guy is doing okay.
Same, there was that period before the among us stuff where he wasn’t uploading and then I checked one day. This horror channel with 500k subs now has uh millions.
I've always been glad that George decided to end Frank the way he did. If he didn't, he would have been fighting constantly against being deplatformed and hated, and it certainly would have haunted his career forever. His music isn't my taste, but I'll always consider myself a fan.
Your opinion is exactly how I feel, his music is not my vibe but while I'm sad FF ended I'm glad he did it. His content would'nt survive in the current climate and even if he did continue he hated making it at the end so I think his content would of fallen the way of idubbbz where he becomes bitter against his audience for what got their attention in the first place. I'm glad he is happy what he is doing and seems to get a positive response for it. Stll waiting on that Cold Ones episode though.
I have huge respect for George. Not a fan of the Joji stuff, but can somewhat appreciate it cause he is good, and the fact he departed from his old content without shunning his old content/fans. He achieved something that most content creators wish they could achieve, being able to adapt and change with alienating their previous audience and even bringing a lot of them along for the ride
I know your comment is two months old, but I just want to point out a typo in you comment. I’m sure you meant to say “without alienating” not “with alienating” his fans. Not a grammar nazi, just something that would be worth an edit if it was my comment as some people aren’t as good with English or aren’t native speakers. 🙏💯
@@hatefulconducthe actually created a new channel similar to filthy frank recently except he isn't a character in it personally so it doesn't effect him he just directs it. I came across it a couple months ago

I really find it interesting how the more that the internet has become anti-edgy and safe, the more hateful it actually has become. Despite how edgy stuff was in the past, things like cancellation or self-flagellation over even mildy offence things has just made the internet a lot more disgusting and genuinely harmful in my opinion.
Yeah, nowadays you have brigades of doxxers, haters, gaslighters and who knows what, 15 years ago you could basically type and say anything even upload gore but still people were polite and trolls and doxxers were really rare and containted to forums or 4chan

Filthy Frank, Idubbbz, Maxmoefoe, and h3 were honestly such a huge part of youtube experience in high school. Im glad Max and Joji are at least still doing well

I think what most people had a problem with idubz was how disingenuous he would seem. It's fine if you don't like making edgy content anymore, but to try and smugly tell others they couldn't do it. While that's how you became famous. Then everything with Sam Hyde just appeared to be petty and childish.
Honestly I think him telling people not to make edgy content anymore is respectable. He is very well aware that the line you have to toe to make edgy content now is very very thin and you're likely to ruin your online reputation if you step on the wrong side of that line more than once, especially if your audience is small. Telling people to stay away from it is honestly good advice if you want to build an audience more diverse than an average fraternity

The difference between idubbbz and joji is that filthy frank was very obviously a character that was just an amalgamation of a bunch of terrible human traits whereas idubbz was just himself. It's way easier to say "hey I'm leaving this character behind" than it is to say "I'm leaving my past self behind." I also don't think idubbz was acting morally superior to anyone. I mean maybe he was acting morally superior to the incels and racists but to be fair he is morally superior to them so like whatever. Idubbbz is just a classic example of 'I will take the piss out of you' but the second someone turned the tables on him it was 'unacceptable behaviour'. There couldn't have been a less graceful transition to other content than his history of the last 3 years. Not to mention him pulling up the ladder behind him when he reached the top and scolded those below him for being wrong.
He scolded himself as well, though. Perhaps he was too harsh on himself, but it isn't "based" to say the n-word as freeingly as he did then, no matter the time period it is said in. The people he scolded are the people who keep doing it, so he obviously isn't talking about the people who don't. That being said, it is still his fault ultimately that he fell off, only because he DID create a fanbase that expected him to be overtly vulgar, so when he dropped it, so did his views.
@@drvurruct2274 Whether saying the N-word or not is 'based' is an American issue. Where I am from we use a basically interchangeable word in a different context where it literally just means 'black-skinned person' in a non-derogatory way, and it's not frowned upon to say it, because very few people thinks of it being a 'no-no word'. The whole reason he went that way was because Tana Mongeau used it often and then when he used it in front of her (the whole reason why he said it) she acted insulted and concernedn while she had been throwing it around herself. Not to mention, this is content from over 6 years ago when there was still a different zeitgeist on the Internet and in general people weren't so professionally offended by everything. TH-cam has been a lot more constrictive of what can and can't be said, so it's to be seen in context of the then-and-now, respectfully. The whole issue with his turnaround is that his videos are 'private' but you can still find them with ease. If he actually now takes a stance against this content he should outright delete it, but now he can still make money out of it, so it's pure bogus and when people say 'He'S GroWn As A PerSon' well... no, he hasn't, he's just switched tactics because TH-cam demonetizes such content now, so he doesn't get any money from it anymore, alongside his whole switch of persona happening (((suddenly))) when those new TH-cam rules took effect. Sorry for the long read, but I hope you understand my skepticism about it all.
@@LaxyDreyi don’t understand the ongoing narrative of being upset by the usage of a racial slur as “professionally offended” . anyone who knows what a racial slur is knows why its *objectively* offensive. the only reason it exists is to *be* offensive. the dismissal of such affect seems to only come from people unaffected by its usage.

No worries. We've got Filthy Frank's channel downloaded *somewhere* and TH-cam won't get rid of everything. i remember watching jojivlogs back in the day, and relating to the realness he displayed. frank is the epitome of transcending the past in the best way. although it sucked to see him go, the fact that his health was declining due to his commitment was something so admirable it would be wrong to go against. i would listen to his non pink guy music prior to his departure, and it was genuinely so good. the talent he had for music often bled into the pink guy character. im happy for joji, he deserves all the success in the world.
I've been on TH-cam the whole of his career but never watched it. I'm so amazed (and in a similar sufferer's way - proud) how he related the health issues to his audience. I couldn't do it at all like he did. I'd have fallen apart. Mess. There's genuinely nothing more important than health. Also, completely agree with everything you have said. I thought that goes without saying but just in case.
He handled the situation with such grace and gratitude that it was impossible to not root for him, even if it was sad to see him lay the FF persona to rest. I'm not a fan of the genre he's into but I respect his talent and have checked out most of his music, while trying to keep tabs on him from time to time. Seems like a genuinely great person and I'm really happy that music has worked out for him. Couldn't happen to a better guy. Idubbbz was/is the polar opposite, lol. It's like he's trying to make sure he becomes a has-been and it's so strange to watch. That video where he was doing a "doc" on Sam Hyde and the way that Sam turned the tables on him seemed like the last straw, and something snapped after that. It was kind of sad too as it looked like Ian wanted to let loose and get weird with it, like there was some cellular memory of the days when he still pushed the envelope, but the soy won out. The Sam won out, lol. Two early/mid 00's YT edge-lords, two very different ways of walking away from what got them where they are today.
I'm not surprised George had tissue damage to his throat. Maintaining that Filthy Frank voice must have absolutely shredded his vocal cords. Also lol at the idea of anyone taking kpop stans seriously. They think they're so powerful, but they're just unusually loud clowns.
I think George was able to look at himself and realize that he didn't like what he was doing, like the rest of them, but George actually took a look at HOW his life was being impacted by his fanbase and chose to use that as his reasoning, rather than preform mental gymnastics to justify why he didn't like his audience / his content.
He was honest. That’s the difference. He said he was more interested in pursuing a different career, and he did exactly that. He didn’t pretend that all of his jokes were actually evil and dangerous, then start a cringe-inducing online political crusade.
For all of us that grew up on the internet, there comes a time when we realized that almost all the people we enjoyed watching when we were young are hack frauds.
George was always making music as “joji”. He just kept it more lowkey. Look up the “Chloe Burbank” ep by joji. Nobody ever mentions it. He was doing that type of music before, and well into the filthyfrank era.
Joji was never destroyed by fame. He gave his reasons for ending Filthy Frank. His fans respected the choice and gave the new content a chance. Now, Joji has become more successful than ever
Wow this hit close to home. My whole life I have joked with people about seizures when there was flashing lights or other stupid shit like that. Till one day at the age of 28 I was cooking dinner and woke up on the floor with a busted face and a whole through my lip. We were hopefully that it was a once off and never again. Unfortunately 2 years later I had three in a week. One at the gym, where I busted my entire face open, had to have a surgeon stitch it back up. Finally after many more I have been seizure free for 7 months now. Seizures are something that unless you have experienced them, it's hard to wrap your head around them. It's unreal to just lose control of your body and there is nothing you can do about it. Sending love and light to all my epileptics out there. You are not alone.
Ye they suck. Had my first seizure 5 years ago at a rave (i was sober btw). Thankfully I don't have photosensitive epilepsy because not being able to go to live music and raves would suck so much, it's an important aspect of my life.
iDubbbz is effectively, alongside Nyanners and Fantano, yet another catastrophic example of 4channomics; the use of 4chan to grow an audience by directly or indirectly appealing to their sense of humour/taste only to then abandon and condemn them once it is profitable enough to do so.
The difference is Nyanners and Fantano were able to build significant audiences who were completely unaware of those associations, so when the backlash occurred, they barely felt the hit. A lot of Ian's audience are still people who watched him from back in the day but were still supporting him despite his change in direction. When he insulted them and the content they enjoyed, much more of his community than he expected turned against him. Now all he has are the people who he's leeched off of H3H3 and Hasanabi.
Seems like there's only so many places content creators can go. - They can be like Joji and come to peace with it, and revel in the fact that they were who they were. - They can be like Corpse and be consumed entirely by their audience - They can be like Skye and just have their actual personality catch up with them - And they can be like H3H3/iDubbbz and throw their old fanbase under the bus, or use them as a step ladder, to score points with a community that feeds into their egos and holds them aloft, and claims them to be "Reborn" or having "ascended" above what they once were, when in reality they're the same, maybe worse because at least before they seemed self aware. I mean we've known about Ethan for a while, but more recently with Ian, claiming none of the people he content copped deserved it... And then saying he was just sitting on a pedestal/grandstanding... Like that's not what he's doing by claiming all his old fans are basement dwelling neckbeards. It's so frustrating.
I think idubbz has come to peace with it, “throw their old fanbase under the bus” oh get an actual grip, he actually grew and change and realized he shouldn’t be larping for people that are still stuck in 2015-2017 and don’t represent his views anymore.
you realize people change and grow over 10+ years right? Ian and Ethan have both addressed and apologized extensively and expressed their regret from many things they've done in the past. In Ian's case where is own fan base was literally sending his Gf (now Wife) death threats over something so trivial as an only fans, its makes you question what audience you were tailoring too in the first place. As for Ethan he's a mixed bag and definitely has done questionable things over the years. But to say he's not self aware is crazy , the man has a 15 second delete button for his live stream because his filter is so poor and he knows it lol.
Spoony's fall is shocking if you were around during the wild west of late 2000s TH-cam. He'd appear on the front page basically every single time he uploaded. Around 2013 was when his uploads mostly just...stopped. It was definitely a result of his mental issues but he basically stopped working and didn't seem to have any motivation to continue even as his financial situation got worse and worse until he lost his house. He only recently resurfaced in those interviews Tom mentioned and seems to be trying to pick up the pieces. It's never too late. Also to be completely fair to Spoony's trash talking of Channel Awesome, their website was and mostly still is abysmal. He didn't need to apologize he just needed to keep being himself. Idubz on the other hand basically said to his audience "I hate you and everything you stand for" and went on to produce nothing of value. He tried to broaden his audience by cutting off what he saw as cancer. But here's the thing, while a ton of Idubz's audience was pretty mean spirited a ton of them, much like Ian himself, have by now either matured or were only into that kind of stuff purely for laughs and not being seriously problematic. So when he basically told his old fans that he hated them he was throwing out the baby with the bath water.
I think "went on to produce nothing of value" was the real killer. Nyanners was brought up elsewhere as another example of a creator disowning their old content and audience, but she's still going strong thanks to building a solid streaming career and a newer fanbase who doesn't know or care about that stuff. Idubbz doesn't seem to have switched gears anywhere near as successfully.
I'd rather he produce nothing of value at all than produce his old stuff. And I'm glad he "turned" on his fanbase- maybe some of them will acknowledge their problematic pasts. You don't enjoy that content without a pretty significant amount of privilege separating you from its consequences.
@@annab4931 I know what you are implying here. But the privilege here is being and edgy teenager with raging hormones and an underdeveloped brain watching content anon on the internet. That's what separated his audience from consequences. You see it from all kinds of people and all political parties. Its easier to spout extreme opinions online under an alias because you aren't held accountable for what you say. Not the privilege that you are referring to.
@@antongunther3977 usually for sure anonymity plays a part, you see all sorts of vitriol being spewed behind that shield. But idubbbz fans were beyond that. He was saying that bullying is okay, slurs are okay because words are just words, and you can say anything to anyone as long as it's a "joke". This normalised discriminatory bullying to such an extent that his content made it impossible for people like me to speak up at high school when I was on the receiving end of that stuff in person, because it was always "just a joke". If you haven't been on the receiving end of that kind of discrimination I can imagine it would be much easier to find it funny. But when you know what it feels like, it's much harder to laugh. You have to internalise a lot of self hatred to survive in that sort of edgy humour environment as a minority or someone with disabilities. To reiterate, I'm not talking about just dark humour, I'm talking about him throwing around the word n****rf*ggot and saying that bullying is good for some people and slurs are totally fine for privileged people to use. Btw I wasn't implying it, I was trying to straight up say it, white men with no or invisible disabilities made up the bulk of the idubbbz fans who were public with their "edgy" behaviour. They may have aged out of it now but many of them don't like attention being drawn to how fucked up it all was back then because it makes them actually have to acknowledge to themselves that they were in the wrong.
@@annab4931bro dont make it a race thing. I'm not white and I know plenty of old idubbbz fans who aren't white. People can just miss him dunking on idiots and acting like a spaz with kickstarter crap and edgy humor. Not everyone watching shock content is there to be radicalized. Some of us can laugh at a joke.
The biggest difference between George and Ian is that George isn't going out of his way to shit on his old fans. Sure he might have issues with some of them, but he isn't SAYING it. Ian, on the other hand, hates his old fans and will happily say so, which sends the message that "this man does not appreciate the people who got him to this point" Which is why George is happy making music now, and Ian is a laughingstock, dancing on Yoko Ono's strings
the best part is that he only act like that because being edgy on youtube today does not make you a penny but he try to act like he changed Like dude you did not you just dont want to lose your revenue stream
George is and always has been more self-aware than Ian. He could see the writing on the wall, and understood very clearly that he owed his success to his fans as Filthy Frank, and that to turn them against him would only lead to bad things in the future. Ian seemed to think he was untouchable now that he was an official member of the H3H3/Hasanabi-sphere of influencers, and that he could shit talk his former content and fans with no repercussions.
@@peytonalexander5300I’m sorry to tell you this but you guys don’t have the power that you think you do. If george publicly hated on his filthy frank fans nothing would happen to him, he is already successful and he has moved on.
@kennedy3682 yeah your right about george if he started shitting on filthy frank it would do nothing to him it might even benefit him a little with the twitter folks, but he doesn't. And that makes him a better man then Ian ever was
reminder that going from edgy narcissistic internet persona to insufferable narcissistic moral preaching far liberal internet persona is not "growing and changing" as a person.
I mean for idubbz, he's getting older and who you are as a person can change when you experience things. I mean I don't know a single person who can look at even a social media post from 7 years ago and not cringe. We as people are always experiencing things and it's not uncommon for something you experience to change your world view. Does he actually have new opinions and thought processes? It's very possible. Is he back pedaling on his old stuff a bit too hard? It's very possible, but we don't and probably won't really know
LordKat placing the blame on Spoony for Kat not becoming Internet famous by interviewing Notch is and always has been patently absurd. Spoony sperging out the year prior likely had nothing to do with the growing bad reputation of TGWTG nor why Kat didnt get the interview, and Spoony was just a scapegoat for Kat at that time. Ultimately, Spoony's downfall is truly one of the saddest, as he was one of the few people at Channel Awesome who actually had real talent, but he just was not made for the stress of the limelight. His Counter Monkey videos are still great to this day and I highly recommend them to anyone interested in tabletop gaming. I sincerely hope Spoony gets better 🙏
Also for that tweet it was handled behind the sense and even Jesse otaku accepted the apology. It would be months later that obscurus lupa would dig up the tweet while doug was on his honeymoon and along with The Last Doug left in charge and Scarlett Spoony ex would get him suspend form the site out of lupa being jealous of Spoony always getting front page over her
Whenever I hear about Corpse, I feel so bad for him. I visibly cringe out of my skin whenever someone follows me somewhere and I find out they’re a high school classmate that recalled my old email; I can’t imagine millions of people trying to dig through your stuff *on purpose* to find out about you irl and dox you for their own sick fantasies. Hope he’s okay and in peace, left to his own devices.
I still can not believe the AUDACITY of that person to say "he shouldve listened" about a supposed picture of corpse, as if they didnt stare at their computer for an unreasonable amount of time searching for it.
exactly. He shouldn't even have mentioned it. The transition of content was going so good before that point. Every time he tried to give a disclaimer he shot himself in the foot instead.
It's weird, I grew up watching Spoony, FilthyFrank, and iDubbbz (for a time). Of them Spoony is still the saddest story to me. It's hard to explain but at the time, I genuinely thought he'd be huge. I thought this guy is going to go somewhere. So much potential ruined by mental health issues. He should've sought help, but then again, most of us back then (and still, tbf) use the internet to escape that responsibilty. Sucks to hear Oreo passed. The guy really has lost everything at this point.
Failed to mention that Sam Hyde made him look like a completely gullible idiot. 😂 Sam knew he was there to make a hit piece, so he staged everything. Sam Hyde has his version of the doc/ all the scenes idubbbz took out. It's pathetic af.
It was sad, now its funny. Originally, I was sad to see someone I respected fall so far. Now a I see a spineless manlet who has no control over his own live/emotions, who is obviously triggered by people who slight him such as Sam Hyde, and I laugh. He gladly will go out of his way to try to ruin people like Sam, but is obviously immensely troubled by the fact that he not only failed to do so, but has probably sustained immense more damage than he ever could have hoped to inflict upon him.
@@florencepp7236 Ian went to make a hit piece on Sam called "Getting Away With It". When Sam turned out to look more funny and competent than Ian in the documentary, he refused to upload the video, blamed his editor for the delay, and developed an irrational hatred/fear of Sam. He was caught saying "I'm usually the puppet master in these situations". When Sam trained Harley for Creator Clash 1, Ian banned him from entering very shortly before the event to waste Sam's time and money that was spent on travel and tickets. When Sam trained Froggy Fresh for CC2, Ian tried to gaslight Froggy into not being friends with Sam and when that didn't work Ian kicked him and threatened him with a lawsuit if he spoke about it. People criticize Sam for making jokes about Anisa, but conveniently ignore that Ian and Anisa wanted to exploit him just like they exploited AirsoftFatty.
Not defending spoony at all but I will say as a channel awesome watcher in the late 2000s spoony was 100 percent right about the website being poorly designed
Never heard of corpse before but his story is actually so sad and it also makes me very angry of the people stalking him and shaming him... what a bunch of destructive useless people they are
the dream face reveal was only cringe because it was obvious how hard dream was trying to appear as attractive as possible, refusing to move his face from a specific angle that he feels is his best angle, which is a bit of a red flag for someone producing kids content, especially since he probably made money off his face reveal that no one asked for. People latched onto this and obviously bullied him for it.
Wow! I've heard of this Filthy Frank guy, but dude... He created "do the Harlem Shake"... That stuff survived for a very long time for a meme. I'm beginning to understand just how legendary this guy truly was.
He's always been a very creative person, even the stuff he was putting out towards the end of his career as Filty Frank where he wasn't as passionate was still quite good. He's just an artist through and through
This era of TH-cam is always interesting to watch about. Because I don't know a single one of these people despite being from "that era" of youtube, just not into this type of content. Even now, I primarily only watch niche gamers and artists. So finding out TH-camrs have these massive fanbases that are this obsessed with them is pretty interesting.
@@kr3642 This should be a new rule of the internet, like rule 34 or rule 63. "The longer a discussion about idubbbz and his terrible new content and persona persists on the internet, the higher the likelihood of one of his twitter using nufans mentions he "grew up""
The "betrayal" thing wasn't actually that big of a blow against Spoony. I'll admit it was unprofessional, but Blistered Thumbs, the video game subsidiary of Channel Awesome, died a slow and painful death because the CA management didn't give it enough support. LordKat not getting the Notch interview is probably more the result of him being a nobody than anything, honestly. He was always a tiny and insignificant member of CA. His podcast This Week in Games barely used to crack more than 30 views and even fewer live viewers at any given time. As to Spoony's tweet, it did drum up a lot of ill will toward him from other CA members. JesuOtaku forgave him, but then ObscurasLupa drudged the situation back up a month later in the middle of an argument with him, leading to a total meltdown on Twitter largely fueled by an at-the-time undiagnosed bipolar disorder. Spoony always sucked at taking criticism and it just got worse and worse over the years. (The two of them later privately settled their beef, and Lupa has a whole shady history of her own which I won't get into here.) But whether he got fired from CA or quit doesn't really matter. It IS true he was big enough to strike out on his own, making thousands of dollars on Patreon and through ad revenue on visits to his personal website The Spoony Experiment. No idea why Tom's applying a tone which isn't there when Spoony criticized CA after the fact. He's pretty nice in that clip Tom plays in this video and they remained on good terms, with Spoony even appearing in a few Nostalgia Critic videos after the final (proper) anniversary film To Boldly Flee. Spoony stated he'd start work on a movie after reaching $5000 on his Patreon, and of course this is where things fell apart. He cracked under the pressure and stopped making regular videos outside of the very infrequent Live Wire streams, where he'd spend half the time sitting in silence and the other half screaming at his own fans. Over the past few years, his marriage fell apart, his dog passed away, he got into a car accident and failed to show up to the court date, then finally lost his house and moved back in with his parents in his 40s. Things have very slightly been looking up for him, since he got interviewed by the guy from Phantasmagoria 2 and Live Wires have been more frequent, but he still owes his former fans sooooooo much that I doubt there will ever be a complete redemption arc.
You got me curious, what's this shady past obscurus lupa has? CA drama is interesting to read about, but info is really scarce because aside from Doug, Spoony and Linkara most of the "talents" were/are complete nobodies

Good on Joji/Flight Frank for leaving while people were begging for more content rather than Ethan Klein and idubbz who continue to make content when their former fans say "quit already"
Joji/Frank leaving when he did in hindsight was such a smart transition. He left during the peak and didn’t drag or force the character too long, was when edgy content was getting nuked/becoming less culturally tolerated, made peace with his old fans and used pink guy as a method to practice for his music career.
Joji is the IRL version of a bollywood character stepping out of a fast moving car that then explodes, do a backflip, catch the damsel in distress midair and do a superhero landing. What a guy😄

For the record, they only cut away from the offensive and crude humor when it was no longer monetizable on TH-cam. It wasn't about growing up or maturing. It was about furthering their career on TH-cam.

What’s even funnier is he made Sam mainstream popular and killed off his own career. I love Sam Hyde now, when I was afraid of him before.
And Sam seems to genuinely want to help idubbz but Anissa constantly gets in the way of that.

Yoko ono ended the man
This video also fails to point out that Sam knew the doc was going to be a slanderous hit piece from the start, so he ruined it by simultaneously going so over-the-top bizarre that it would make Ian's doc look fake while also killing Ian with kindness the entire time.
I like to imagine Ian waking up in the middle of the night, horrified that Sam Hyde’s career comeback was caused by Mr. Jomha

@@Astral_Incarnateit is hypocritical when his whole fame is from that. That's one of the issues. It's okay when he did it and got his wealth from it but not others. He's being a self righteous prick. @@tiffanywyatt5137 is it hypocritical though? Doing dumb shit when you're younger and then when you're older saying "hey that was really bad nobody should do that" isn't what I would describe as hypocritical. And a lot of his jokes were literally just saying different combinations of slurs which isn't really a joke but whatever, point is that his edgy jokes cultivated a culture of incels and racists and told them over and over again that being offensive and saying slurs is great which undoubtedly caused some amount of real world harm. Joji is a great example of how to leave behind your past gracefully.
The contrast between how he and iDubbbz left behind their respective audiences is absolutely nuts
@@1tallboi basically the opposite approach

You are not alone.

iDubbbz is effectively, alongside Nyanners and Fantano, yet another catastrophic example of 4channomics; the use of 4chan to grow an audience by directly or indirectly appealing to their sense of humour/taste only to then abandon and condemn them once it is profitable enough to do so.
H3H3 is another one the dick rode edgy jokes until it wasn’t profitable
The difference is Nyanners and Fantano were able to build significant audiences who were completely unaware of those associations, so when the backlash occurred, they barely felt the hit. A lot of Ian's audience are still people who watched him from back in the day but were still supporting him despite his change in direction. - They can be like Joji and come to peace with it, and revel in the fact that they were who they were.
- They can be like Corpse and be consumed entirely by their audience
- They can be like Skye and just have their actual personality catch up with them
- And they can be like H3H3/iDubbbz and throw their old fanbase under the bus, or use them as a step ladder, to score points with a community that feeds into their egos and holds them aloft, and claims them to be "Reborn" or having "ascended" above what they once were, when in reality they're the same, maybe worse because at least before they seemed self aware.
I don't think changing your content ad acknowledging your problematic past and disavowing it is "throwing their old fanbase under the bus"

Spoony's fall is shocking if you were around during the wild west of late 2000s TH-cam. He started on TH-cam as an AVGN inspiration (by his own admission) before getting a fame boost from Channel Awesome, and at that time Spoony was a prince of TH-cam. He'd appear on the front page basically every single time he uploaded. He only recently resurfaced in those interviews Tom mentioned and seems to be trying to pick up the pieces. It's never too late.
Also to be completely fair to Spoony's trash talking of Channel Awesome, their website was and mostly still is abysmal. The copyright notice is still dated to 2020 and there's a broken Google+ link because they don't have anybody to remove it from the theme (or they don't care).

There's Joji, a successful artist. Chad and Max just Chilling with their own content and then there's Ethan and Ian.
The difference between FF and Idubz is that FF appreciated his audience and was capable of producing something. So when he switched his content his fans were willing to stand up for him.
Keep Pumping out the good content Tom!
His videos are a lot of fun.

I remember being so ecstatic when Frank transitioned to music. Like watching someone chase a dream, I could tell it made him really happy
The biggest difference between George and Ian is that George isn't going out of his way to shit on his old fans. Sure he might have issues with some of them, but he isn't SAYING it. Ian, on the other hand, hates his old fans and will happily say so, which sends the message that "this man does not appreciate the people who got him to this point"
Which is why George is happy making music now, and Ian is a laughingstock, dancing on Yoko Ono's strings
the best part is that he only act like that because being edgy on youtube today does not make you a penny but he try to act like he changed Like dude you did not you just dont want to lose your revenue stream
I feel the same. I am so sick of the Lord kat thing being taken seriously.
Let's not forget when lord kat said on a live stream that spoony should grab his brothers gun and paint the wall behind him with it
Also for that tweet it was handled behind the sense and even Jesse otaku accepted the apology. It would be months later that obscurus lupa would dig up the tweet while doug was on his honeymoon and along with The Last Doug left in charge and Scarlett Spoony ex would get him suspend form the site out of lupa being jealous of Spoony always getting front page over her
Also Lord Kat lost the interview not because of spoony but because Lord Kat jerk it on a live stream
Hey aydin didn't expect you here, love your work
Whenever I hear about Corpse, I feel so bad for him. I visibly cringe out of my skin whenever someone follows me somewhere and I find out they’re a high school classmate that recalled my old email; I can’t imagine millions of people trying to dig through your stuff *on purpose* to find out about you irl and dox you for their own sick fantasies. I still can not believe the AUDACITY of that person to say "he shouldve listened" about a supposed picture of corpse, as if they didnt stare at their computer for an unreasonable amount of time searching for it.
All Ian had to do was say "I dont want to make that content anymore" and nobody would have cared.
Laziness and a petulant, spiteful personality are what ruined Spoony’s life.
@@N0TYALCmental health don't be a Jackass
The emasculation of Idubbbz is somehow both the funniest and saddest thing ever.
Failed to mention that Sam Hyde made him look like a completely gullible idiot. 😂
Sam knew he was there to make a hit piece, so he staged everything.
Sam Hyde has his version of the doc/ all the scenes idubbbz took out.
It's pathetic af.
Honestly
It was sad, now its funny. Originally, I was sad to see someone I respected fall so far. Now a I see a spineless manlet who has no control over his own live/emotions, who is obviously triggered by people who slight him such as Sam Hyde, and I laugh. He gladly will go out of his way to try to ruin people like Sam, but is obviously immensely troubled by the fact that he not only failed to do so, but has probably sustained immense more damage than he ever could have hoped to inflict upon him.
@@justliving920 some people mention sam hyde here and never even heard of him. So I wouldn't even call him influential
Never heard of corpse before but his story is actually so sad and it also makes me very angry of the people stalking him and shaming him... what a bunch of destructive useless people they are
Damn. After all these years, Sky must've heard of the genocide route and said "fuck it, we ballin!" 💀

the dream face reveal was only cringe because it was obvious how hard dream was trying to appear as attractive as possible, refusing to move his face from a specific angle that he feels is his best angle, which is a bit of a red flag for someone producing kids content, especially since he probably made money off his face reveal that no one asked for. People latched onto this and obviously bullied him for it.
I'm suprised Cryaotic didn't make it onto this list. I absolutely LOVED his content. It's a shame controversy destroyed him

@@Sianostrakarenrenren In other accounts, she even said it was actually two hours, not fifteen minutes. But yeah @Relative Depression there's a conspiracy that she colluded with Spoony's ex Scarlett to get him kicked from the website. Scarlett was a mod for The Spoony Experiment and deleted many comments, likely at Spoony's discretion, so she wasn't very well liked. They had a terrible breakup that put Spoony in a funk until he met April, who of course eventually left him.
Lupa was the main person behind the Change the Channel document, the infamous grievance list many former CA contributors lodged against the company. Many of the claims have since been debunked by various third parties. Lupa also later tried to act as gatekeeper for Power Rangers as she was watching the series for the first time and the community ousted her lol
