- Part 295 of L&L 79-80 playlist. 1980 Later in the morning. Chores are done. Luke brings Laura breakfast in bed. The conversation goes where Luke doesn't want it too, but he gives Laura what she needs. I thought it was really very sad when Luke was in the barn with Mr. Whitaker and he said that he was happy and content for the first time in his life... the story was so good, he really did (does?) really NEED her.

SUCH A GREAT LOVE STORY. i was pregnant when this storyline come out. it was great.. all i could do is sit and watch tv and i watched this every day...
God I remember all of ths...it was better than going to class when I was in college!!! Princess huh? Luke was such a good guy..he loved Laura so much...who wouldn't want a man to treat them like he treated her?

Anthony Geary is so sexy. He is not classically handsome. His sense of love and adventure make him a great leading man.
Every time Laura said "no" in these early episodes, I think, "Lord girl, are you crazy?! I would be all over him!!!!!!"

Just my take on it is that Laura had a lot of baggage and still couldn't reconcile the fact that she had officially "cheated" on Scott even though she loved Luke. Laura has always been a "good girl" at heart, and she always wants to do the right thing, as Genie once said. Even though her love for Luke outweighs all, she still is an individual with a conscience. I think Laura still had fears that Scotty's mean comments about her being a "tramp" were true.
Laura has this image she feels she has to live up to and that is being the All-American good girl. Luke knew that about her in the beginning. We all knew what was going to happen we they got back to Port Charles. Still broke my heart.
My heart broke into a million pieces for Luke. And for Laura when she realized what she had done in her knee jerk reaction. :'(
At the same time, Luke really pressured Laura to take that ring off. He told her he was done waiting. He then left her alone to "think about it." Seeing this again the whole thing was really as much his fault as hers, because she still gave the inclination she would rather wait if it were up to her.
Luke seems to have forgotten what Laura went through in the David Hamilton story line.She can't handle reporters.Her mind is already messed up with Scot calling her a.tramp.She was called that with David Hamilton too.She kept telling Luke she couldn't go back and face the reporters.He promised to be there with her,and keep hold of her hand,and he let the situation get out of control,and lost grip on her hand.He should have had Joe make sure everything was handled in Port Charles with controlling of the reporters.
Absolutely, she warned him several times about not being able to face reporters. I thought the writers really took it too far, she forgave the rape for goodness sakes.

IMO it almost seems as if Laura is two different people when she wears the wig and when she doesn't. She seems different than Laura with the wig on. Maybe it's just me?

Double OUCH! I felt that comment must have hurt Luke too, but he didn't make a fuss about it. Gosh....they really did love each other through each other's load of, baggage, whatever you want to call it. lol

Here it comes! She's waffling! I know what's coming, I remember being shocked and broken-hearted, and just not believing it! I couldn't understand how someone who looked death in the eye and stared down two hit men could waffle at this point!
Her weakness was reporters!She tried to tell Luke, but he wouldn't listen,and pushed her until she broke.
She looks beautiful in everything except that awful black wig! LOL
GH Fever It's not just you, I have been noticing this go-round, that she does seem different when she's wearing the wig. I guess it can really affect how you present/feel about yourself when your appearance is altered?
Yep! The wig did nothing for her. I was happy whenever she took it off. She probably wasn’t different, that wig sure did make her look different though.
I know she felt she had to keep her good girl image, but she loved Luke so much, and with him by her side how could she do what she did? But then again, the writers needed a reason to keep them apart for awhile.
