- 3rd week of September 2015 - It was about a week early for the full Fall Colors - there were higher color changes in the higher altitudes. Too bad there were construction near some good parts of the drive near Ouray. Following the bikers were priceless.
Recorded with Gopro 4 silver, encoded with Sony Vegas with "disabled resample" with light video stablizer.

Absolutely beautiful, made my first trip over this amazing highway, 1978' beautiful then and so stunning still. Heartbroken over the recent fires. Bless Colorado

I know this route well, and I see a ton of missing mountain in those construction sites. They must have had some major slide damage. Wonder what shape it's in now, two years later.

So pretty! Would you recommend the Telluride side for Durango to Ouray or would you go million dollar highway instead? Which side has the prettier views and leaves? We will be doing this drive next week. The leaves should still be pretty good. Thanks!!

The million dollar hwy
- is shorter, but travel is slow at times (10mph at times), but worth it. going from durango ouray is quicker than going around ouray to durango going thru telluride to west side to rico-dolores-mancos-durango.
Ouray to to Telluride is straight is fast (like 35-50mph at times), but pretty as hell with the mountain range in the background. if you do, then also add a 1.5mile down the Last Dollar Rd up to Ross Ranch (see my drone video). Telluride (well Mountain village is very pretty).
Telluride to Rico-dolores-mancos-durango - not much at all. telluride to trout lake is probably the only good view, the rest is not much to see.
San Juan drive is incredible. Make it a big loop drive!
