- I remember when I was a lad
Times were hard and things were bad
But there's a silver linin' behind every cloud
Just poor people, that 's all we were
Tryin' to make a living out of black-land dirt
But we'd get together in a family circle singing loud
Daddy sang bass, mama sang tenor
Me and little brother would join right in there
Singing seems to help a troubled soul
One of these days and it won't be long
I'll rejoin them in a song
I'm gonna join the family circle at the throne
No, the circle won't be broken
By and by, Lord, by and by
Daddy sang bass, mama sang tenor
Me and little brother would join right in there
In the sky, Lord, in the sky
Now I remember after work, mama would call in all of us
You could hear us singing for a country mile
Now little brother has done gone on
But I'll rejoin him in a song
We'll be together again up yonder in a little while
Daddy sang bass, mama sang tenor
Me and little brother would join right in there
'Cause singing seems to help a troubled soul
One of these days and it won't be long
I'll rejoin them in a song
I'm gonna join the family circle at the throne
Oh no, the circle won't be broken
By and by, Lord, by and by
Daddy sang bass, mama sang tenor
Me and little brother would join right in there
In the sky, Lord, in the sky
In the sky, Lord, in the sky
I DO NOT OWN THE SONG OR PICTURE! THEY BELONG TO DAILEY AND VINCENT!
When it finishes the first chorus and goes to the banjo, that transition is wholesome.

Jamie Dailey and Darrin Vincent are a force of nature!! God they are the best ever!!!
Thank you for uploading. This song cheers me up.
It is hard to make a song sound better than the original, but success is obvious

This song made me speechless
this is a very nice song
Amazing song. :)
i love this song and their voices are amazing, such harmony and clear notes. But i think this song would be better if it was kept the classic bluegrass style, just the voices with a banjo, a fiddle, and a mandolin, possibly guitar, but the trumpets and the strings and the piano, etc, was too much for me
+EmilyVan. Since Dailey and Vincent did the Statler Brothers tribute album, I am just guessing that they did this song in the style similar to that of the Statler Brothers. I believe they (Statler Brothers) did this song in a live performance on someone's country music /variety show back in the 70's, which included a horn accompaniment.
I could be wrong, it's just a theory. LOL.
Either way, it a great old song, done by a great band, and they did a great job on it !!! Blessings to you and your family !!!
Karl Matthews The Statler Brothers we’re singing backup for Johnny Cash From 1965 to 1972, The Statler brothers were on the original recording Of Daddy Sang Bass in 1968
Christan Davis did a G#1
1:41 sounds like Richard Sterban made an appearance too.
Yeah Richard's vocal range is all the way down to an A flat.
bravi
Shame they are using pitch correct coz I've seen live videos where they are just as good and I think pitch correct spoils the sound.
