Another excellent video ! The Continental Divide Basin is a serious concern for the hikers, glad you helped the guy, it could have disastrous for him. A guy became stranded a couple years back in a pickup, took him a couple days to walk far enough to get help ! Looking forward to the next. 👍
It's a really remote section, hopefully he was ok - I offered to contact anyone he wanted with my satellite device but he was happy to just have food for a few more days
Having hiked a lot of the CDT. That hiker situation is terrifying. The great basin is one of the areas on the CDT where running out of water is a valid concern, let alone being one day out of Atlantic City and running out of food. He's still 4 days from Rawlins.
For sure, it’s such an empty area. He told me he got stranded in the Wind River Range in snow a few days and missed the window for resupply. I gave him all the dehydrated food he could take and offered any other assistance. Hopefully he made it through ok
